slimm! I would like to watch x-men but I am not super versed in those movies. what should I start with? thankee! i hope you are well. <3
oh maaannn that’s fantastic!
you should probably start with the original trilogy— X-Men, X2, and X-Men: The Final Stand. they’re good solid watchable movies and they explain the world of X-Men so you have a good foundation of understanding how the world works. X-Men: First Class chronologically comes first, but it’s best watched if you already know what kind of relationship Magneto and Professor X have, so you understand the significance of their past together. X-Men: Days Of Future Past is a time travel movie, so it chronologically takes place after The Final Stand and between First Class and X-Men 1.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine is kind of a side-film that goes on about Wolverine’s past, specifically with his brother, Sabertooth. The Wolverine is another one about him, but I didn’t actually go see it because it looked like a dumb cultural-appropriation ninja movie (and I’m also not that into wolverine lol)
HOPEFULLY THAT’S A GOOD START, ENJOY THE X-MANS!! X-Men has always been an allegory about civil rights, and the director of the original trilogy pointedly intended his films to be a gay rights metaphor because he himself is gay. It’s my favorite superhero world, partially because of that, and partially because it seems to be one of the easiest to get into— every character’s powers have the same origin, and so most of the time their powers make more sense than others, and they do a really fantastic job of character development.
edit: Txen has also recommended X-Men: Evolutions, which is a cartoon series! It's supposed to be real good, but I haven't seen it myself.
