Weird post, but I'm wondering if anyone else can relate
So I have a couple kins. A few that I'm very sure of, but I have more that I don't feel as strongly and usually don't list because I'm unsure whether they're kins or comfort characters or just relatable.
But usually the way I get that feeling that I might kin from a certain source
I'll be using my first kintype for these examples, so it's not super relevant to this specific side blog, but it's arguably my most active and well known kin blog, so I'm putting it here
I'll be partaking in the canon/source (ex. watching Supernatural)
And then, at a certain point, I react very strongly to an event or character (ex. the mid/late seasons plot and the entirety of late S9, early S10)
A huge factor is that, unlike most people who would think "wow this season sucks" or "the writers are awful", I instinctively think "that's not right" or "that didn't happen" (ex. Dean choosing to stay a demon. Absolutley false, would never happen.)
And then it usually clicks. And it's not always super obvious at first, but there's a character (or two) that I usually fixate on.
And it's always weird. Like... I tend to go through this phase of "no, that's not a kintype, I just really like this character" or whatever
But there's that nagging feeling of "if you have to ask yourself if you're faking, you're not faking because fakers know they're faking" (and that's in regards to other things, too)
But then you start looking into the tags here on tumblr for kin stuff related to whatever source you're kinsidering... and I can't even really describe what happens next, but it's this weird acceptance thing... you look through all the content and some of it you're neutral towards, but some things you're like "oh yep that's correct" and others you're like "FALSE INCORRECT"
And like you don't comment on it or anything because you're not an asshole, but you start to realize it's your instincts about what is or isn't canon to you, whether or not you have memories, there's this feeling of "that doesn't seem right" or "that's familiar"
Anyone else get the same thing?
