"Eeeeh?! Just us?!"

Usagi’s voice pitched up with the kind of joy only birthday magic could conjure, arms flinging around Mamoru in a flurry of pink sleeves and sunshine-bright laughter.

"Mamo-chan~ that already sounds like the best present ever!" She pulled back just enough to beam up at him, her cheeks pink from happiness rather than frosting this time. "Then I want… hmm… a whole day where you only smile at me like that." Her finger gently tapped his chest, eyes sparkling.

"Oh! And maybe we go to the arcade… and get crepes… and watch the stars after dinner? Just hold my hand the whole time, okay?" She paused, then added with a soft giggle, "You said anything—so you better be ready to spoil your birthday girl!"

The words hung in the air like frost on a mirror—sharp, still, impossible to ignore. “I’ve seen this before.” Usagi’s breath caught, her eyes wide with more than just surprise. There was something haunted in Elsa’s tone, something that scraped at the edges of memory like the whisper of a dream forgotten before morning.

The wind tugged at her long twin tails, pale ribbons fluttering like warning flags against a sky heavy with silence. “…You have?” she asked softly, as if any louder would shatter the moment. Her fingers curled at her sides. The Moon Kingdom. The Silver Crystal.

The wars no one remembered except in dreams and scars. She didn’t know what Elsa meant—not fully—but there was something in the way she looked at her. Like she wasn’t just seeing Usagi… but seeing something older, something buried beneath her smiles and stumbles and stubborn hope.

“Tell me,” she said, voice trembling—not from fear, but from something deeper. “What did you see?” She stepped forward, one boot leaving a shallow print in the snow. “Because I think… I’ve seen it too. I just didn’t know it had a name.” And maybe, just maybe, they weren’t strangers after all.
