JeanMonroe.com’s Short URL
Why you ask, would I want a shorter URL? Some people get paranoid about links. They are afraid that if they link to a website that then the big bad Google will punish them. This is especially true of sites like this one, using tumblr as a content management system, because we are reblogging content. And Google actually doesn’t like any duplicate content, of any kind, no matter the memories it invokes, no matter the nostalgia, no matter that we are sharing with our friends.
This is why using the shortened URL works well. People follow the shortened URLs, not the search engines. They aren’t supposed to. URL shorteners are using the same principle as the PPC marketing ads, they send a user to a database that will then pick and redirect to the right address. The redirect stops the search engine, and instead of having links for SEO or search engine penalties, we use them for what they were intended for, HUMAN traffic.
So, if you would like to help us out, add a link back to our little site about Marilyn Monroe (who wanted to be Jean Monroe, originally, and for a long time). Just copy and paste the shortened link into your website, blog or social post:
