Close Encounters

“Where you headed, ‘doll’?” Pain bloomed in Ahlia’s wrist where the man’s fingers curled around like a rabbit snare.

“Xaander I-- I didn’t see you there.” The nerves made her voice crack even as she pushed a smile onto her features that all too well mirrored his usual lopsided charm. Bad habits just seemed to stick. “I was just leaving.”

No matter how much she willed it otherwise, his grip didn’t slack. If she was the rabbit, he was the hungry fox grinning and all too pleased with himself as he circled for the kill.

“You know, babe, you’ve dropped your riddles. My good looks that much of a distraction, or do you just know better than to pull that line of bullshit with me?” He laughed, low and short. “After all, I knew that tongue before it split.” Threat and promise mingled within the purred words as predator closed further the gap on his prey. It sent a chill down Ahlia’s spine as Xaander’s lips brushed against her neck, followed all too quickly by the grazed of fang framed words.

“You can’t keep running forever, sweetheart. Time catches up to all of us.”

“Time?”

Her form went rigid in the pause of silence before a shift of stance brought her low enough to slam an elbow into his gut and earning her a low hiss of pain. While her frame was smaller and lighter than his own, she wasn’t entirely outmatched. Years of close encounters made sure of that and the momentary distraction allowed her time to slip out of his grasp. “Fuck you, Xaan. Talk to me of Time when you can see the grains of sand in your hourglass.”

No sooner than the words left her lips, she turned to leave not giving him an opportunity to snatch for her again. “Ahlia, wait. They’re hunting again--”

His voice rang in earnest across the crowd, but she was already gone.

Excited!

So for laughs I decided to submit commissions to a few artists here on Tumblr.  I've already confirmed three of them.  I sent them all the same character descriptions and let them choose who and how they want to draw my piece.  I'm including the character descriptions I gave them below and will post the pieces as I get them along with the artists' information so all y'all can see how it goes.

Character Options

  Merydian

  Merydian is a teenage girl, approximately 17 years old. She is very short (5 foot even) and of mixed Asian and Caucasian descent. Her skin is pale and she has large, black eyes. Her thick, black hair is almost exclusively with in two short braids on either side of her head. She has a slightly wide nose and full lips. She is very petite- light build, small bust, thin arms and legs.

  Despite her size, Merydian is a bundle of energy. She is constantly on the go and particularly liked climbing things. She is very perky and usually smiling.  She can be very silly.

  Her fashion style is a little funky. She is usually seen in camouflage pants and a simple tank-top accented with whatever unusual jewelry has attracted her attention that day. She has three piercings in the lobe of each ear and another at the top of her right ear.  She likes bright colors and things that most people might consider a little odd.  She is also comfortable in skirts, usually paired with boots.

  ALTERNATIVELY Merydian can be portrayed as a mermaid.  She still wears her pigtails but no other clothing (though she might decorate herself with jewelry).  She has a pale white face and belly and her tail is gray with black spots in varying sizes.  The gray and black extend up her back, shoulders and neck.  The spots would extend down her arms and would begin to fade around the sides of her torso.  There would also be a few very small spots framing her face.  The fin of her tail would be very wide with a roughly scalloped edge, though not an even scalloping, and the spots would also cover her tail fin, though fading out and fewer towards the end of the fin.  She would maintain the same personality.

Xaander

  Yep, two As. Long story.  Xaander is a young man of about 24. He is very good-looking with wide shoulders, a muscular but not bulky frame and a classically beautiful masculine face. He had blond hair which may hang straight and loose down to his shoulders or may be tied simply at the back of his neck. He has very distinctive teal colored eyes, a straight nose and a charming smile.

  He is a pretty mellow guy. He loves singing and adores kids. He also just like to sit alone and think about things.

  His style is fairly simple and classic: button-up shirts, slacks, occasionally a vest over the top. He tend towards rich solid colors and black, though not exclusively.

  ALTERNATIVELY Xaander can be portrayed as a forest elf with longish pointed ears.  He generally would wear simple, brown trousers and a hide vest with no shoes.  He can also be depicted wearing your typical Robin Hood or Legolas style forest greens with boots.  He often carries a bow and arrows.  He tends to attract a lot of fluffy bunnies and they are very comfortable sitting right on his shoulders or head.  He doesn’t mind them a bit.  In this aspect he would always be found in a woodland sort of setting, though again his personality would be the same.
