It felt strange to walk down the familiar hallways of Starlight again. Things had not changed, since the last time he had stepped into the establishment, but things were different. It had been months since he had last seen the elder, and trepidation sat heavy in the pit of his stomach. Would Leo still be here? Would he still want him back? Had he moved on to another? The last few months had turned his life upside down, prevented him from living in the comfortable ignorance he had constructed for himself, and forced him to face his true heritage. Daehyun felt different now. The angel in him had been awakened.
Paused outside of Leo’s office door, he had to take a moment, fist suspended an inch from the wood. He was stronger now, more powerful and knowledgeable. His brethren had mentored him, somewhat, into the warrior that he needed to be, but they couldn’t erase the human emotions that had become ingrained over his years living as a mortal. That was the reason he had come back. The thought of abandoning his entire life – and the man he cared for the most – was unthinkable. So he knocked.
In his dream, he was wandering down a long hallway lined with doors. Somehow, he inherently knew that if he tried the knobs, they would all be locked, but he didn’t know why. At the end of the long corridor, there was a large arch and he walked through it, his foot landing on fresh grass. Dark eyes settled on a figure who stood facing away, and he stepped closer. The sun was so bright, Leo had to put his hand up to keep it out of his eyes as he lifted the other to tap the persons shoulder. There was something important about them. Something just out of reach. Just as the figure began to turn, he woke up to an abrupt sound.
Mildly disoriented, it took a moment before he realized that he had fallen asleep at his desk and that someone was at the door. Shaking the vestiges of the dream off, he rose and made his way to the door, fingers halting just short of the doorknob. Power emanated from the other side, along with something familiar and out of reach. Half expecting the door not to open like those in his dreams, he pulled the knob and opened the door to reveal a breathtaking young male. His brow furrowed before his features smoothed out and he gave the newcomer a light smile. “May I help you?”
