Just 2 years ago, the trailer for the Original Series Mad Black Men by Xavier Ruffin premiered on DailyMotion.

The series is a satire following three black ad workers as they weave through a racially insensitive 1960s world of advertising trying to keep their eyes on the prize and off the wrong women.

I first heard about Xavier Ruffin back in late 2013 during his fundraising campaign for Mad Black Men, a satirical web series inspired by Mad Men about the 1960's ad industry from the eyes of three Black ad workers. We also featured Xavier on our "12 Designers to Follow on Behance" post last year. So imagine my surprise when Xavier contacted me and wanted to be on the show. How could I say no?

Xavier's work is so much more than this one campaign though. We talked about his company, his title sequencing work for several popular artists like T.I., Childish Gambino, and Wiz Khalifa, and many more. Xavier also gave some great advice for people out there trying to increase their profile. Thanks again for the conversation, Xavier!

Mad Black Men is a short film (web series) spoof of Mad Men, looking at the 1960’s advertising industry from the eyes of three black ad workers reporting to a cast of insensitive white clients and co-workers.

Mad Black Men is a project created by my friend Xavier Ruffin and Alphabang! recently hosted a preview night for the show featuring behind-the-scenes images, promotion stills, and artwork and designs featured in the show. 

It's exciting to offer Alphabang! as a space to showcase such exciting local projects from young and local artists.

Gerald Walker- "Please Shut the Fuck Up" [Video Teaser]

Gerald Walker is kicking off 2012 full speed. With two new projects underway, he is also set to release the video for the fan fave track, "Please Shut the Fuck Up." The video in conjunction with the song is pretty much an F-you to everyone and all who hate. With 2012 at our doorstep, can we please leave all that behind us! The video is set for release in February, but to tide you over until then, below is the teaser. The video is directed by Xavier Ruffin, who also had his hands on the video for "The Missing Piece," so you already know that the final product is gonna be dope. Stay tuned for Gerald Walker's new project, "Believers Never Die" coming sooner than you think.

This time its from our homie Gerald Walker! He is one of the Midwests newest faces and has been featured on blogs from 2DopeBoyz, MTV, XXL, The Mad Bloggers and DJ Booth! Originally from Chicago and now in Milwaukee, he has put out consistently dope and thought provoking material and will be releasing a new album in September...so stay on the lookout and enjoy this offering in the meantime!
