WHERE DID ONE END & the other began ? In reality, he was not sure. In fact, he was not even (properly) awake yet. He was exhausted after being awake for over forty eight hours, & he now felt relieved to have her back. She was safe now & he would not let her out of his sight for the next sixty years. They must have fallen asleep pretty soon after they managed to clean her wounds. He (vaguely) remember arguing over who should take the bed, but with the mutant being stubborn & Carl being too worn out, he ended up agreeing to them sharing, the bed was big enough after all.
They were all tangled up now. Danvers was a guy, which meant that he moved a lot during the night. His next concern was the fact that he might have hurt her, without meaning to, of course, but he did not have any control of his movements while comatose. Slowly, he began to separate from her, being extremely careful as to avoid waking her up. Tabitha needed to rest in order to regain her strength. He would make damn sure that she did not move a finger over the next couple of days. She had had enough.
He paused for a couple of seconds, staring at her as he realized just how fragile she looked as she slept. It was almost innocent & she looked slightly younger than she was. A sigh of relief escaped his lips, he had not known just how important she was in his life until she had disappeared. Worrying like that would kill him next time. He could take many things, but seeing the people that he held dear to heart getting hurt was not one of them. Digits remove a stray strand of hair & accommodated it behind her ear with such delicacy that was not usual in him.
“ We need to get you a big breakfast... ” He whispered to himself. He’d have to cook because he was not leaving the house. “ You’re also not allowed to leave my place for a month, consider yourself grounded, Smith. ”
