it depends on the animal. with dogs and canines, yes, undoubtedly. with other animals, it can be touchy, because sam is big and imposing and mammals catch onto that pretty fast. however, sam also exudes a very pleasant aura -- there is, of course, the demon blood and inherent sense of Wrong that some animals might pick up on (i think birds of all sorts hate sam and will screech if in near proximity of him), but he is also a deeply empathetic and gentle individual, which is something that’s tenfold around animals, as he doesn’t want to make them distrust him.  but sam hasn’t encountered a single dog that doesn’t instantly enjoy his company.

Yoooo shoutout to @xburntchildx (and all of their subsidiaries) for being an AWESOME person with AWESOME characters and an AWESOME world because oh my god it's so intricate and detailed and I'm in love with almost all of them and to top it off they're a great friend. Their OCs are some of the greatest I've ever seen, their universe deserves a ten-book series, and just who let this amazing of a person exist

this question is so valid.............i think that probably the period in her marriage to francis after the end of her depression and before he started losing money would do it... maybe like the period when the girls were like, 5/6 to when they were 17/18 (or maybe 18/19 depending on how old you hc them to be)? that’s a pretty decent 10-12 years when margarethe was happy (and if you asked her this question, even assuming she’d let you get away with using those terms, she’d retcon history and say that she was happy and not self-loathing for her entire marriage).

as u probably already can guess, there was no point where all of her self-loathing went away, but... that middle section of her marriage was the point where she had everything she (thought she) needed, and... she really WAS very happy. and she was receiving CONSTANT VALIDATION FROM EVERY SIDE between her thriving social life and her thriving marriage so when the self-loathing did crop up, it could get buried again.
