Michael Hoenig - Xcept One LP (1987) [CLT-46919] Featured track: A3 - "Forgotten Thoughts" Xcept One, the second solo LP from German composer Michael Hoenig, came out around the same time as the 1987 Canadian horror film The Gate, which Hoenig scored with J. Peter Robinson. On the strength of that film's sound design, I ordered this record hoping to gain further insight into his process. Overall, this release would be difficult to recommend to all but the most stalwart New Age enthusiasts, but track A3, "Forgotten Thoughts," stood out from the rest of this LP due to its layered, meditative simplicity.
