The day Taylor Swift leaves my ranking is the day I stop being Xela. To me, Casual and Guilty as Sin give off a similar heart-wrenching vibe while being in love. Then Honey and 像晴天像雨天 make me feel like I'm floating across flower beds!

Had officially hit my lowest point by crying openly at a restaurant (tried to hold it in but couldn't) and the really nice owner lady came up to me to ask how I was, if I wanted to talk, and insisted I got coffee/tea even when I didn't have any money on me, on the house. Which of course made me cry harder.

Then it reminded me of when I was too busy to have proper dinners so I'd buy some snacks from this stall and the lady would kindly scold me to eat properly. And another time at this restaurant that I frequented, the owner would refuse to sell me the unhealthy meals I always picked because I reminded her of her daughter and she wanted me to eat well.

My point is, I may be going through a lot of things all the time, but I'm so grateful for the kind older women who have been nice to me, a stranger, just because they could.

I just realised that we don't label fanfics as "imagines" anymore. When did that start dying out and why am I sad about it🥲

After being in fandoms for a long time, you can tell how old a fandom is by how insistent the fans are in sticking to canon. Particularly for fanfics, a fandom that's a decade old or more will have many interpretations of the same character and most people will enjoy them without debating whether it's accurate. The character can be a red flag or green flag, who cares as long as the work is great!!

Meanwhile baby fandoms tend to be more prone to debates on whose take is right, how a character should be portrayed, what rigid universal truth there should be. If your take is too controversial people will send hate your way.

It's sort of like a growth ritual all fandoms have to go through. You'll see intense discourse for the first couple of years, but eventually they'll die down as everyone gets used to it.
