New-ish revival thought/theory:

I'm rewatching THIS - once again re-affirming my appreciation for it. But also - once again - I keep thinking that the scripts for the revival just had too much dialogue. So much was over-explained as if this was a dumb mediocre fox procedural. I'm also asking myself though: would some of the stuffier x-files-y sciency dialogue be easier digestable if the editing and pacing were the same as during the original run?

Mulder’s New York Knicks T-Shirt

Why am I only discovering now that, in Mulder and Scully Meets the Were-Monster, Scully was supposed to be wearing Mulder’s New York Knicks T-shirt in bed.

WUUUUUUT?!

I literally only just got around to listening to the commentaries this morning and am listening to the commentary on that episode with my freakin’ jaw on the floor.  When people kept saying that about the scene I thought it was fanfic fuckery, but NOPE.  Turns out that was actually supposed to be a thing that only didn’t happen because the NBA wouldn’t fucking approve it.

The implications of that... Scully misses Mulder at night, so sleeps in his shirt.  ARRRRRGHHH!!!

Not to mention the fact that when he spots her sleeping through the fox face peep hole, he stops and has a sad smile on his face - he’s missing her too... that would have been SO MUCH MORE MEANINGFUL WITH HER IN HIS SHIRT.

I think I need to go mourn for the scene that will never be.  I am quietly devastated here... I’m sure you all went through this like, a year ago... hahaha

I've been dwelling on the David leading Gillian away blooper since it came out. After repeated viewings, I don't think it's David who says to break for lunch. And I don't think one blooper would be cause to shut down for lunch. I'm leaning in the direction that Gillian's reaction had to do with more than what we saw. She seemed shook up. I wonder what else caused her to react so frazzled that David stepped in and a break was declared

I'm not sure it was David who said that, either. Are the actors really allowed to just declare something isn't working and walk off to lunch? Seems odd to me too.

Gillian strikes me as someone who reacts very strongly to things - and you may be right...something else besides that loud pop may have happened that we didn't see; the way she has her hand clasped over her mouth - she looks truly upset.

But this outtake gets under my skin because of David's reaction. Unlike when she got hit with the apple - which made her laugh, even though she got pelted - she looks genuinely shaken. And David immediately steps into the frame in a somewhat commanding way, walks in front of that other dude, wraps his arm around Gillian's *waist* and leads her away. He responds immediately, instinctually and protectively and it gets me, dammit.

(Anyway, I also would love to get the full story on what happened there.)

I was just watching that S10 BTS bit about the making of the spacecraft and how the special effects people freaked out because they broke 20% of one wing two days before filming, etc. 

Does ANYONE remember or give a shit about how that spacecraft looked? If the writing in My Struggle had been anything close to decent and Mulder and Scully had been handled well, they needn’t have bothered with a fancy spaceship no one paid a nanosecond of attention to. There could have been a paper airplane in that shot for all I cared if the story had been at all coherent and watchable. 

As it is, I only remember some chick with an accent saying she gave birth through her belly button and David and Gillian overacting on the porch of the Unremarkable House.

Gillian just called Darin Morgan "self-depreciating" in the bluray bts stuff. It's self-deprecating, sweetie. Cars are self-depreciating. God, I love her.
