I was cleaning up my phone this morning and realised I had this clip, which I took of Gillian at the Toronto Expo. Even though I only recorded five minutes of Gillian’s panel, I captured one of my favourite all-time GA quotes (”I thought I would die…I haven’t died. I thought I would fail…I haven’t failed…”).

Anyone can relate to being afraid to try new things, be it the first day on a new job, moving to a new city, tackling a new project professionally, etc. And that Gillian has those same feelings, same anxieties but goes for it anyway is such an inspiration.

Has anything ever been more on-brand David and Gillian than the fact that they still can’t land the ‘chemistry’ joke the awards shows keep giving them 30 years on and immediately decide f*ck this, let’s get out if here AS SOON AS POSSIBLE and David’s urge for flight is so intense that he’s shoving the winning envelope at Gillian before the nominees were even read while Gillian muses that they are being yelled at from backstage and the audience is absolutely panicking? I love that Chris came out and said Gillian was “very angry” with him about that dumb finale pregnancy. Gillian quite obviously didn’t like it, but I can’t recall her being so blunt to say she was very angry with Chris about it.

Now I can’t help but picture her reading that last page on set, using the word “f*ck” a lot, flipping a table, and tearing up the season 12 contract that they were trying to manipulate her into signing (probably) in Chris Carter’s stupid, pathetic face.
