Lol I just read this too. He is sooooooooo full of shit.
I have already talked about this so much that I cannot muster up the energy to rehash it all again. But it is TRULY the pièce de résistance that he claims Gillian “decided very late into the shooting of the season 11 finale” that she was not doing more episodes. BIIIIIIIIITCH PLEEEEAAAAAAASEEEEEE. (This is the part I can’t bear to dive into rehashing or attempting to source. But, it was in October 2017 at NY Comic Con when the press NOTICED Gillian saying she wasn’t doing a Season 12, which caused ME to have the reaction, “This is suddenly news NOW? She’s been saying this for months!” So, yeah. I repeat: bitch please.)
And it is further bullshit that he says he was totally planning for sure this time no really to resolve everything in Season 12. That gets another RESOUNDING “bitch please.” You milked that one dry a long time ago, friend.
I don’t even have a second of all, Mulder; let me just quote from the article.
Carter maintains he was caught off-guard by Gillian Anderson’s decision to leave behind The X-Files for good this time, and stated that his intention was to continue the series in some form. However, it’s worth noting that Anderson has on multiple occasions refuted claims of a sudden exit. At New York Comic Con in 2017 and again in various interviews before the series’ 11th season aired in January 2018, Anderson reiterated it would be her final run as Dana Scully.
“I always thought there would be even more X-Files,” Carter told host Daniel Hartvig Nielsen. “Gillian [Anderson] decided very late into the shooting of the season 11 finale, I didn’t realize there wouldn’t be more X-Files.”
The statement contradicts previous interviews given by Carter and Anderson’s own comments on season 11. Despite knowing Anderson’s decision, Carter decided to press ahead with his plans for season 11 without rewriting the finale to give closure to Scully’s storyline.[...]
If it was Carter’s hope that a dynamite season 11 finale would change Anderson’s mind, boy did he swing and miss.
This guy took CC to school on his bullshitting and I for one am glad.
This article that is basically a reiteration of the Den of Geek writeup also states it pretty plainly:
[...] with creator Chris Carter recently admitting he was "sorry" for the various plot threads that were left unresolved in Season 11, knowing that Gillian Anderson wasn't interested in returning for a Season 12. His recent comments will surely be met with confused reactions, as Anderson herself made it known publicly that Season 11 would be her last time playing Dana Scully and Carter opted not to compensate for that certainty by modifying the season finale, only for him to now express regret that he had been planning on featuring Scully in new episodes.
😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑 get fucked, buddy
Lastly:
“There were some objections to the CSM and his connections to William,” Carter said. “I can tell you that people who objected never asked me the right questions in the end.”
all I have to say to that is
