Hey there! I saw your post about pacific northwestern gothic and i really loved the whole idea. I was wondering if you could make a post in the same vein about the american southwest, yknow like feeling the sand move on its own under your feet in the desert, actually seeing ufos, ghost towns that are more alive than they should be? If you can't/don't want to its cool, thanks for reading!

someone suggested californian gothic to me yesterday and i’m gonna give the same answer here which is that i wrote the pnw gothic posts because i have lived in this area for 20 years and i both know and care for it intimately, similar to how, say, flannery o’connor, who was one of the authors who wrote a lot of southern gothic style stuff way back at the birth of the genre, was a resident of the american south

i think the nature of an americana gothic genre requires a certain knowledge of the inner workings and nuances of a place that’s hard to really get if you haven’t spent much time living there? so i would suggest and urge yet again for people who find themself wanting that kinda thing in their own region to go out and manifest that destiny and make it happen!
