Still thinking about Babe grieving Charlie and his x-hunter team trying their best to comfort him.

“I don’t want my senses back. I don’t want anything back. I just want Charlie back.”

I’m so glad they included this scene. I think Babe believed for a long time that his life mattered only because of his special senses. Growing up under Tony’s influence, he would have no reason to think otherwise.

Charlie taking Babe’s sense without telling him was wrong. But I don’t think Babe was all that sad to lose it. To me, his sense was presented as something that helped him on the racetrack but was a hinderance in everyday life.

Charlie was the first person who reassured Babe that his life was valuable regardless of if he had special senses or if he was a top racer. Charlie repeatedly showed Babe that he was worthy of love just for existing (Charlie keeping things from Babe to “protect” him is a trope I tend to dislike, but that’s a discussion for another day.)
