 ☯️ What is Yiren Disco? 

It is a YRZX event that goes for nine days leading up to the donghua’s anniversary on July 09. There will be prompts for each day and three substitute prompts with a theme of Community that you can create for! It’s to celebrate all things YRZX—not just the donghua. So, whether you’re a dongman-only or a cdrama-only YRZX enjoyer, this event is for you~! 

 ☯️ Who can participate? 

ANYONE! From artists and writers to video editors and GIF makers! Not in a creative mood during the event? You can participate by commenting on the fanworks or making rec lists for the given prompts! 

 ☯️ How can you participate? 

The event will be hosted on both tumblr and twitter/X. You can post your work on either platform with the tag #yirendisco2026! Feel free to mention @yrzx-archive (@yrzx_archive on twitter/X) in your posts~ If you’re hosting your work on AO3, you can also add it to the AO3 Collection~ 

 ☯️ Are there any fill requirements? 

NONE! Create as much as you’re able to. If you can only write 100 words or make a rough sketch, feel free to post them as your fill! 

 ☯️ Are there any other rules for the fills? 

Genfics, Slashfics, and reader-inserts are all welcome!  

18+ works are also welcome, just remember to tag them accordingly. This is a judgement-free space, so taboo and dead dove content are okay, as long as they are tagged and other people can easily avoid them if they want to. 

This is an anti-genAI event. We understand that it will be hard to know for sure whether a specific work is not created by a human, so we will not be doing any witch hunts. That being said, fanworks must be human-made, and the use of gen-AI is prohibited.

Xia He and the Labrang Monastery

The Labrang Monastery is the north side of Xia He, so a shortndistance frm our hotel.

Labrang is the largest monastery outside of the Tibetan Autonomous Region. It houses about 1,200 monks.

Being at the edge of the Tibetan region, Labrang and the town of Xia He have been the site of conflicts between the Tibetans and both Han Chinese and Hui Muslim forces. Hui forces attacked the monastery several times in the early 1900's, killing thousands of monks and townspeople.

The monastery suffered during the Cultural Revolution, with the monastery shut down and the monks sent to villages to work. The monastery reopened in 1980, and many monks returned, but the government restricts the population to 1,500 monks.

In the fall of 2025 the government raided the monastery and surrounding villages searching for and seazing images of the Dalai Lama. All communications with the outside world were cut off at that time.

Many of the local population walk the four kilometer of the monastery on a daily basis. A long wall of Praywe wheels forms the starting point of the route.

This model shows the layout and extent of the monastery and the adjoining mountains.

There are a number of temple buildings throughout the site.

Contrary to the rules at Buddhist monasteries in other places, we were allowed to enter with shoes on, but were not allowed to take any photos inside.

The Chinese government does not allow the training of boys at Buddhist Monasteries. So there is no school, but there are several colleges for young adult men.

We visited the hall of butter sculptures of important religeous figures. The sculptures were amazing works.

Everything is carved from Yak Butter, colored with natural dyes, even the flowers.

They carve new ones for every New Year. These were new enough that the smell of the yak mutter was still pretty strong. Our guide admitted that hot weather in the summers now can cause problems for the butter sculptures.

The guide gave a good overview of Buddhism and the monastery, which was important as several of the group had little knowledge of the religion.

One thing that became clear was that while the government is supporting development in the minority regeons, they are still keeping a tight lock on any thoughts that they feel threaten the state.
