Is it just me, or are the shoulder pads in these costume dramas getting bigger and bigger?

In Zhan Zhao Adventures, the men look like triangles sometimes, and in Ashes to Crown, they have these big lumps hanging off their natural shoulders.

Not complaining, I like the costuming and am totally down with using shoulder pads to add structure, and some of these terribly thin actors and actresses would drown in all those robes without them. Plus, personally, I miss big shoulder 80's styles. It just looks a little off sometimes seeing a skinny, delicate-looking actor with linebacker shoulders.
