I originally did this ship due to them being in my team (they still technically are it's just been a while since I've used that one) I also liked how their dynamic was very much opposites attract, I just love that in general though. For headcanons I believe that they likely met on a school trip layla went on, interested about the place after hearing of Mona being spotted in the area. She ran into Hu-tao while she was reading one of the many books on the topic and drinking tea at Chef Mao's. Hu-tao was the one who introduced herself and was somewhat pestering about what it, Layla was hesitant at first, believing her topic was boring especially to someone so odd and energetic. After explaining Hu-tao just watched her for a bit which layla didn't appreciate at first but Hu-tao did bring her more books for studying so.. at least she's helpful. Hu-tao sorta just talked at her for a bit, mainly about her job at the Funeral parlor, and her passion for poetry Layla was half paying attention to that and half reading her books and jotting down important details. Hu-tao eventually talked enough, standing up from her seat and handing Layla a business card. "Remeber to come back soon, and maybe check out Wansheng Funeral Parlor next time!" she said before running off to likely bother someone else. Layla was rather shocked to be honest, she didn't have many people bother her, and especially not try to talk to her for long. It was quite endearing in a way, she decided she would definitely check out the other girl's workplace.
