I remember working drive thru at KFC , when my hair was short the racist customers would say "thanks, amigo". After I grew my hair out they started saying "thanks, chief." It made me realize that colonization has an enormous impact on everyone when it comes to the perception of identity. Many of our own people don't know our race is #NativeAmerican/#indigenous And I'm talking about #Mexican the ethnicity not the nationality. #Mexicans, when asked what your race is, more often than not, you're native. Our people are not from Europe, our people have been here on this land for thousands of years, build pyramids and created complex societies. We can't forget who we are on our own land.
