xilonen redesign
natlan is officially here, and so is xilonen's drip marketing! and so is my redesign of her.... cuz jesus christ hoyoverse's racism is REALLY coming through this one 😭😭 it's truly unfortunate, but in an attempt of giving indigenous [in this case aztec] culture some respect and justice, i decided to make her more culturally accurate. information; xilonen, or her non-latinized name, chicomecōātl, it the god of agriculture/nourishment and is most often illustrated and related to maize. [yellows of the corn] in this redesign, i chose one of the main characteristics in her representations, which are paper and feather headdress/amacalli [usually along with ears of maize], water/foam accessories and clothing pattern, spiral sun motif [like earrings], a 'sun' flower shield and a nose piercing [sunrays shaped] that resemble social status and religious importance/rituals :] i decided to keep some of genshin's design elements because artistic liberty is allowed! and pushed more into them. the leopard ears looked unnecessary so i gave her some more traits [pattern, teeth, gradiented hands] it's so sad seeing such creative and beautiful and unique culture be watered down and quite literally erased by a company with a game that MILLIONS play and instead of educating the players and showing them something different, they completely ignore it for their own agenda 😞
