Emily’s teeth chattered wildly. The rain has soaked through her clothes to her skin. She had thought perhaps that she wouldn’t need a rain coat but she had been an idiot.
Prepare for the worst, expect the best.
Emily can only blink owlishly at the teenager at the door. God, he looked no older than her! His eyes were like liquid gold, a colour she’d never seen before but it captivated her and made more words temporarily disappear. He pressed his fingers to his head and in that brief moment she was paralysed in fear. Had she gotten the wrong place?
Run! Run!
Mutants were not liked. Better to make her excuses and beat a hasty retreat. Her twin hearts were hammering a frantic beat in her chest. She chanced a look back up the long driveway and thought maybe if she made it to the trees she could try blinking again.
Then he spoke and the relief that flooded through her was almost enough to warm her back up again.
“Th-Thank you.”
Emily shuffled awkwardly past him and inside, careful to try and avoid brushing him and soaking him too. She was well aware that she would probably leave several puddles in her wake but that was beyond helping at this point. As long as she was in the right place and not outside in the cold, she was happy.
“‘M E-Emily.” She introduced herself, holding a hand out then retracting it again “C-Clearwater.”
“why did you bring me here?” - James D
“Cause this is apparently a great date spot. Also Emily said ‘You gotta be real upfront with James, cause he is denser than a rock.’ So I am here, with you, at this date spot. For. A. Date.” M’gann laid out in plain text for him; all while smiling so genuinely to him. She took his hand before he could respond and began to lead him towards the front entrance.

“So, I hear my mom is dating your father. Just so you know, if he hurts her in any way, I’ll burn him so bad he’ll feel it in his bones,” Blake said, eyes glowing violet-white.
Emily face contorted into first from disgust, and then to irritation, and then finally to some semblence of neutrality.
“If you think you can take him then you’re an idiot.” She told him bluntly “As for your mother, I’m not any happier about this than you seem to be.”
The very thought of Madelyn Pryor made rage flare in Emily’s gut. The woman was bad news and yet somehow she had worked her way into Malekith’s affections. What was worse is that he seemed to tolerate her at best flippant and at worst complete disregard for Emily, herself. Betrayal and more than a hint of jealousy made for a toxic combination.
“Your mother is a bitch, by the way.” She hissed.
"Did you just punch a hole in my wall?!" James Darkholme
Ouch.
Perhaps it had not been a good idea to let her anger get the better of her. James always seemed to know exactly which buttons to push with her until her volatile temper had flared.
“Better the wall than your head.”

It seemed almost unreal.
A year. A whole year of him being gone and now he was back with them again. Vivian had been clever about keeping him hidden, then again she had a relic from a sad and sorry past to help with that. Tracking them down had been exhausting and frustrating in equal measure but finally finally they had gotten him home.
Emily had insisted she and Logan go together to rescue him. She wanted to be there when he was finally found. She wanted to make that bitch pay for tearing their family apart. Logan could have tried to stop her but he would have failed so he had just given up and agreed to her coming. She almost wished she hadn’t because despite how much she hated Vivian, how much she wanted to make her hurt, her end had horrified Emily.
He is the child of Professor X. You know that telepaths have a dangerous side like no other. Despite knowing that, Emily had still thrown up as soon as they were safely in the X-Jet and spent the rest of the trip back home in mental and physical silence.
When she had washed and changed, she finally decided to seek out James. With her she carried a small tray with some essentials: food, water, and crucially some first aid. It was always when the adrenaline ran out that the pain would come roaring back and who knew what kind of injuries James had. She had volunteered. The long separation had made her almost desperate not to be apart from him too long lest he be taken away again or she woke up to find this had all been a dream.
She gave his bedroom door a gentle knock. That too felt odd. After a year of it being empty, it was suddenly occupied.
James? James, it’s Emily. I’m coming in...
Better to warn him in advance. No doubt his captivity had taken not just a physical toll and she didn’t want him to lash out.
“You have to go!” From Malekith
Muse A is trapped in rubble and Muse B is has to leave them to die.
It’s not fair. It’s not fair.
Then again, when was life ever fair, Emily thought. Just as she had her only family again, she would lose it. What was worse is that she was so useless, not able to save the man she called Father.
But if she died, Malekith would never forgive her and she knew that. One of them had to survive. One of them had to make sure that the Time Lords, even if he denied he even was one, still clung on.
Who knew, maybe he would regenerate and they could meet again.
“I’m sorry.” she didn’t bother to hide her sob “I’m so sorry.”
“I won’t leave you!” Jamily
Muse A is trapped under rubble and Muse B has to leave them to die.
"James, GO!"
Her leg was trapped beneath a large piece of ceiling and from the burst of pain at each attempt to strain, Emily guessed her leg was broken at the least. There was no way she was getting free quickly. Yet, as the building continued to shake and rumble, dust falling and promising a repeat of what had happened to her, her husband refused to abandon her.
She would be touched if this wasn't so dire.
"Listen to me," she told him through teeth gritted in pain "this place is going to come down. You'll either end up trapped or I'll just slow you down. If you leave now you can still get out."
Emily didn't want to die here. If James didn't leave then they both would and she didn't want that on her conscious. Not when it would leave their children orphans.
So, she made the choice for them both. "I love you." With a scream as Emily strained with all her might, fingers splayed as she produced a shield, slamming it down hard and causing another piece of ceiling to come crumbling down. Just as she predicted, it landed squarely between her and James, cutting him off from her.
