Perhaps it’s true -- she isn’t paying as much attention as normal. All thoughts are like grasping on to ice -- slippery, avoiding her with jumps through the gaps in her fingers. It’s hard to hold on.
“I was not simply pampering your ego at my earlier mention of being unskilled in this game. It is not a falsehood. I did not spend much of... any of my time on any sorts of game. I learned as a substitute. -- Not to suggest you did not spend time learning as a child, of course, commander.”
