Edo XOSE-1- first flown on this date in 1946. This small floatplane was intended to replace Vought's OS2U Kingfisher in the observation and ASW roles. Instead, the Navy decided to procure helicopters.

Just 8 prototype aircraft (designated XOSE-1) were built and flown in 1945. Only Eight production aircraft were built for the US Navy but none were accepted into service.
