I saw that post about Cotton Pearl and Pink Pearl, do you have any lengthier posts about Cotton’s backstory?

i was thinking about this earlier and like... given the pace which i do anything, it’ll take forever to get to this part of the story so i might as well give a TL;DR version, for everyone’s sake

also i wanna point out that i’ve had this idea since i first designed cotton almost a year(??!?) ago - from her TH profile:

Pink Zircon's personal Pearl. She was created for them shortly after an incident featuring Pink Diamond and her own Pearl. Though a bit over-protective, she is dutiful. She also has a secret passion for singing.

i don’t want people thinking that i lifted this from the volleyball episode... i've had a tendency to do things before they’re revealed in the show :( i’ll put the backstory after the cut , i hope it’s understandable. someday i’ll write a proper fic about how exactly it played out

reminder: pz is the second oldest zircon (after blue) and they do diplomatic work with blue diamond. zircons are pretty rare in general & they’re second only to the diamonds

i’m sure pink bugged the zircons as much as she did the other diamonds, but the thing with pz is that they kinda went along with whatever she did. not like “today we will intentionally cause problems” but “haha okay pink lets go see the kyanite worms :^)”. they just didn’t want to ignore her like the diamonds

there was an instance (when pink still had volleyball) where she was tugging around pz to play whatever new game she came up with in the throne room. maybe something with bubbles or jumping? she gets a little too rowdy, a little too all over the place, and smacks right into pz... but because she’s bigger than them, she basically yeets pz into one of the thrones. which severely cracks their gem

pink is doing that thing where an older sibling accidentally makes the younger sibling cry while they play-fight, the whole “shhhh don’t cry don’t cry don’t tell mom it’s okay shhh”; she isn’t concerned about them so much as she’s worried about getting in trouble. she’s hurriedly forcing herself to cry so that she can heal them before anyone finds out, but blue & ocean dream walk in on this anyways. rushing any kind of healing isn’t the best thing to do.

blue takes pz from her & hands them off to ocean dream, telling her to make a caretaker pearl for them, and turns back to deal with pink. the end. cotton is made (a little too well), pz is permanently relocated off-planet, and some few thousands years later, pink gets a new pearl.

pz & cotton reside at pink diamond’s zoo. pink wasn’t allowed to visit their room without another diamond present. cotton is like early-show pearl who was kinda neurotic about everything? pz is fragile enough as-is, she just doesn’t want things to get worse. she knows about volleyball, and later she knows about pearl. it’s a very strange situation to be in

OOF thank you for that post about transphobes. A trans person I follow on insta posted about how he thought you had to have some sort of dysphoria (transmed) to be trans and it just made me feel like shit

!! yeah its! it just sucks i hate to see other trans people just..enabling transphobes like that. i cant stand it. and its like, even if you DO have dysphoria its never the RIGHT kind of dysphoria somehow and youre still just a “transtrender”...and theyll be like “you cant be trans until you look cis” and tell you you cant be gnc and trans its like....shut the entire fuck up dude

Yep! Feel free to use traditional mediums. When submitting your entry, it should be scanned or you could take a clear, high resolution photograph of it.
