Antonio Ugarte y Larrazábal (1780-1833) was one of the most influential figures in Ferdinand VII 's inner circle . Born in Navarre, he moved to Madrid at the age of fifteen in search of fortune, working during his adolescence as a porter, market clerk, scribe, and dance teacher, until he established himself as a businessman. He came to know the future king when he was still Prince of Asturias , enjoying his most intimate confidences and secrets.
