summary: even though he's supposed to be focused on an investigation, colby can't help when his mind wanders elsewhere.
a/n: this is the first time i've written for colby in months, so forgive me if im rusty 😭
sam and colby had just arrived to their filming location and were beginning to set up for their investigation. unfortunately for sam, colby’s mind was elsewhere.
no matter how far away he was, his mind was always on you. his mind replayed images of you standing at the airport, waving him and sam off before they left on this trip. your face on his screen from the night before, during your facetime conversation before he went to bed to rest up for a long night of investigating ahead of him. throughout the night, colby was constantly checking his phone, waiting for your responses to his messages.
“colby, come on, dude. can you please focus?” sam asked, slight irritation in his voice.
“hm? oh, shit. sorry.” colby sighed, sliding his phone back into his pocket. he sat with sam in the chairs he had set up to film them talking about the lore of the place they were investigating.
throughout the night, colby’s mind was on you. the smallest things would remind him of you, and although he felt bad for being distracted, he felt slightly less scared picturing you in his mind. you grounded him, and always made him feel safe.
after a while of filming, he and sam had taken a break to debrief and reset with the group they were with.
“i’m gonna call y/n.” colby said, walking slightly away from the group and tapping your icon.
“of course you are.” sam teased as he waved him off.
colby stood down the hall, phone pressed to his ear as he listened to the phone ringing. he felt his heart swell when he finally heard your voice on the other end of the line.
“colby, hey baby. is everything okay?” you asked once you answered.
“yeah, everything’s great. we’re taking a break from filming right now, and i just wanted to call you and check in. i miss you.” he said softly.
“i miss you too.” you said, colby hearing a faint smile in your voice. “i know you’re calling because i haven’t really been responding to your texts.” you teased.
“well, that’s part of it.” he laughed. “you know me too well.”
“of course i do. i know you’re busy filming, and i don’t want to bother you guys. especially since i know sam can get a little testy.” you joked. colby’s eyes flicked over to sam as he stifled a laugh.
“that is unfortunately very true.” colby laughed.
you and him talked for just a little while longer before he, sam, and their group had to get back to filming.
“okay, text me when you guys are done. i love you, baby.” you said softly.
“i love you too.” colby said, pressing a kiss to the speaker before hanging up.
the rest of the night, much to sam’s relief, colby was laser focused on the investigation and filming. once they were done and packed up, he and sam were packed back up in their rental, and colby was already texting you. he was filling you in on the events of the night, telling you about the evidence they captured and how excited he and sam were to start editing the footage and to be able to share it with their viewers. you were happy to hear how excited he was, and you loved the pride he took in his work.
once back at their hotel, you and colby text for a little while longer before it got late and you both were beginning to fall asleep. you exchanged good nights, the both of you excited that there was just one more day before you got to see each other again.
𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐘— You are a YouTuber that seeks the thrill of the unknown, just like Sam and Colby do. You have a pretty known channel where you post your paranormal encounters and sometimes even guided Quija Board sessions. Now Sam and Colby had the brilliant idea to include you in their conjuring house series as a guest…
𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆— conjuring house, demonic entities, bad stuff, paranormal investigation, bit of angst
𝐏𝐀𝐈𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆— platonic pairing, fem!reader x Sam and Colby
Requested by @lgbtq-girl
I’m terribly sorry that this took me so long to get done. I’m rarely online on tumblr anymore, because life’s extremely stressful right now and I have little to no time to write…
Would you like to do a collaboration with us?
Just a little dm question..what could go wrong, right? That’s what you thought when you got the message from Sam and Colby via Instagram.
Just a small little dm asking for a collab. It wouldn’t be that bad. After all you three were excellent paranormal investigators and had lots of experience. However you felt a little reluctant as soon as they mentioned the conjuring house.
The request to go to that damned house with Sam and Colby was the only time you felt like you should really think it through. The conjuring house was no joke. Ever since you were a teenager and watched the conjuring movies, you felt like something about that place just screamed ‘stay away’.
However after a few days of thinking, you just answered with a more or less confident ‘yes’ to the request and that’s how you got to the conjuring house with Sam and Colby.
“What’s up guys, it’s Sam and Colby!” Colby spoke into the camera that Sam had balanced on a tripod. “Today we’re taking a chance and exploring the conjuring house…for a week” Colby replied, adding the last part in a serious dramatic whisper.
“But because we can’t get our asses haunted alone, we brought backup!” Sam exclaimed excitedly and pointed towards you. “The collab you guys have been waiting for is finally happening, we’re here with Y/n!”
“Yay” you smile nervously into the camera with a rather unenthusiastic expression. The house behind you three was giving you chills and not the good kind of chills.
“Not so excited I take it?” Colby raised an eyebrow at you and Sam also gave you a small expectant expression. You were put on the spot.
“Can you blame me? I’m not really thrilled to encounter some demons tonight…especially not in that house” you sigh back and cross your arms over your chest with an uneasy feeling settling in the forming pit in your stomach.
“I thought you were a thrill seeker?” Sam questioned and smiled in amusement when he saw how nervous you truly were of the encounters.
“I am!” You defend yourself with an exclamation before grumbling a little defensively. “that still doesn’t mean I don’t get scared sometimes”
“Valid point” Sam nods back while looking back at the camera before walking up to it and grabbing it off the tripod to hold it and film more freely.
“Let’s get this over with” you murmur more to yourself than to the boys but they of course heard it.
“That’s not the right spirit, but we’ll take it” Colby shrugs in response and Sam nods while you three make your way into the house where the owner awaits you already.
A contract.
You need to sign a contract. “Does this really say that I won’t sue them if I get possessed?” You question with wide eyes while reading the details.
“Uh huh” Colby nods while writing his signature on the line of the contract and Sam does the same. You reluctantly write yours too on your contract and give the clipboard back to the owner.
“I just signed my soul away, didn’t I?” You remark with a grimace while staring at the living room door now inside the house.
“That’s the fun part” Sam replies with a small snicker before you three enter the living room of the house. “You sign your soul away so the demons can’t steal it” he adds as a joke.
“Very funny” you roll your eyes while sighing a little and looking around the room with sharp eyes, watching for anything that seemed…well paranormal. “I still have a bad feeling about all of this” you stand there watching the room with a growing uneasiness.
“Yeah that never goes away” Colby sighs with a small nod in your direction while positioning their equipment on the coffee table. He turns on an emf reader and it shortly spikes to red when he picks it up and points it into your direction.
“That was a fast response” Sam gasped excitedly but also a little shocked and when the emf spikes again to red while in your direction, it makes you feel even more uneasy.
“That’s a response I’d rather not have gotten” you just reply back and shiver a little when a cool breeze wafts through the room shortly. “Stop pointing it at me please” you tell Colby, but it’s not a question, more like a small command.
“It never went to red that fast” Colby just replies and points it away from you into another direction and the spike goes sown back to green.
“Well that’s not calming me down at all” You respond shaking your head with a nervous grimace while glancing around the room.
“You’re usually not that skittish” Sam observes while filming with their camera and pointing it at you briefly. He clearly noticed your odd behaviour, you almost seemed paranoid here when he never witnessed that with you when he watched your videos.
“I’m also usually not in a haunted house with this kind of bad energy” you reply and jump a little when a thumb is heard from behind you. The sound surprises you, makes your heart race and you walk a little more to the middle of the room. “I feel like we’re being watched” you looking around with an almost paranoid look in your eyes. A panicked one perhaps.
“Relax, nothing is gonna happen to you” Colby reassures you or rather tries to. “But if you want to take a breather before we begin the investigation, then we can go outside for a minute” he suggests in an understanding tone.
“No…I’m fine. I just want to get this done to be honest” you sigh back and run a hand through your hair with a heavy sigh.
***
And that’s how you ended up in the basement with the two. At a wooden table in a small room down in the most haunted spot of the whole house.
“Scared” Colby says while wearing the headphones for the esthes method that are connected to a spirit box.
“Scared? Who is scared?” Sam questions with a frown while you are sitting between Sam and Colby.
“Woman…she” Colby replies, repeating what the box spits out through his headphones while it switches through different radio channels.
“Me?” You ask back and immediately know it’s you that the box meant with being scared. To be honest, you had trouble hiding your shaky hands.
“Yes” is the answer that Colby gives to your question after hearing the word from the spirit box. “Very” he adds.
You nod a little, even though you couldn’t see anything since Sam had the brilliant idea to turn off the light of the camera and turn on the night vision so the viewers of the video could see everything but you three couldn’t even see your hands. “Can’t argue against that” you sigh back a little.
“Where are you?” Sam questions to any spirit here in the basement and you suddenly feel a shiver run down your spine like a sixth sense for being watched.
“Near” Colby replies, saying what he heard.
Your eyes dart around in the small room until they catch a really dark spot near the entrance. “Y/n” it whispers in a breath ever so quietly that you almost didn’t catch it.
You nearly fall off your chair when you hear it whisper your name.
“Woah” Sam quickly stables you by grabbing your shoulder gently to make sure you don’t fall off your chair.
The jolt from you had made the table move a little, which pulled Colby out of the esthes method. “What was that?” Colby asks and takes off the headphones and blindfold, putting them onto the table and looking at you with concerned eyes.
“I would like to take that breather outside now, please” You just breathe out while Sam turns on the light on the camera again and catches sight of your wide eyes.
Sam and Colby share a knowing look before guiding you back up the stairs.
⋆˙⟡ in which: you join the triplets in an uncut investigation at sam and colby’s old trap house to summon the midnight man. (based on sam and colby’s new youtube video.)
a/n: this won’t be exactly like the video, i may be taking some creative liberties here and there. this will also be a series with multiple parts, since the video is so long (i may even leave some parts out). thanks for understanding!!
a/n2: i wrote this like a year ago so bear wit me
cw: use of y/n, cursing, mentions of possession and religion (just a rosary), creepy shit.
You stood staring off into the distance in the house as faint words went in one ear and out the other. Sam was explaining to the camera how the ritual was going to work. To summon the Midnight Man.
You had tried to focus on having a positive attitude and looking happy throughout the whole intro you guys had filmed— but something about this made you feel off. You weren’t scared, just… spooked. There was a certain feeling about this place.
Matt could tell that you were uncomfortable, he’d caught your eye a couple times and given you a reassuring shoulder squeeze, sensing your anxiety. He was your anchor in this space where you felt like you were floating in fear and anticipation for what was to come during this ritual.
“So the first thing we do is write out our full names on a piece of paper.” Sam said as he slipped you and Chris each a piece.
“Writing the gov name feels crazy,” Nick commented, to which everyone laughed.
After taking a paper from Sam, you slid the pen across the paper in loopy letters, writing out your first, middle, and last name, then handed it to Colby. Matt did the same, his eyes asking a silent question from across the space.
You okay?
Nervous, you responded back with your expression.
Sam took a deep breath, preparing his next words, which were going to sound insane. “The second step is…”
“…we need to each put a drop of blood on the paper with our name.”
Chris made eye contact with each of you, his eyes wide, a “wtf” expression on his face. You glanced at Matt. This shit was way too intense. Blood?
“You guys don’t have to. Me and Colby can do yours as well.”
“Yeah, I think I’m good.” Chris chuckled nervously. Nick agreed, and so did Matt. But you paused.
You weren’t sure what made you say it, but the next words that came out of your mouth were: “I’ll do it.”
Matt’s head whipped towards you and his brows furrowed.
“Are you sure?” Colby asked. “You really don’t have to. We don’t want to make any of our guests uncomfortable—”
“It’s for the video right? I got this. No big deal.” You tried to swallow away the anxiety that was swirling in your stomach. You picked up two papers— the one with your name and Matt’s— and took a finger prick from Sam.
Since blood couldn’t be shown on YouTube, you went into the bathroom and pricked your finger. You inhaled sharply, the pad of your pointer finger stinging. As you pricked your finger, you felt something that was almost like a breath on your neck. You jumped and turned your head instantly… but no one was there.
Maybe I’m just freaking myself out for nothing, you thought. You shook off your bad feeling and finally wiped a drop of blood on each piece of paper, coming out of the bathroom.
Sam and Colby repeated the process.
The next part to start the ritual was to knock on a door 22 times with the 22nd knock landing at exactly midnight. Then you each had ten seconds to light your candle or the ritual wouldn’t work.
You did all these knocks with anxiety swirling in your stomach, but it finally calmed down once your candle was ignited.
But you had to keep following the rules.
“1. Don’t leave the house,” Sam said.
“2. No extra light.” Colby continued. The house was completely dark. All the lights had been turned off before the ritual had started.
“3. If your candle goes out, you have 10 seconds to relight it, or the same amount of time to run to that circle of salt for safety. If neither of those things are done… the Midnight Man can attach to you.” You shivered at that. Across the circle, Matt caught your eye. You could tell he was a bit worried about you, but you just looked at the floor.
“And once you’re in the salt circle, you can’t leave until the ritual is over. Remember, we’re doing this until 3:33 am.” Colby added. Damn, this was intense. You didn’t think you’d ever been this petrified in your life.
“Finally, 5. You have to keep moving. You can’t stand too long in one spot.”
So now the six of you moved slowly around the house, so that your candles wouldn’t blow out. Making small conversation, and jumping at every noise.
You subconsciously stayed close to Matt as you headed up the stairs to Colby’s old bathroom. On the way, Chris curiously stepped in one of the rooms, looking around. A light turned on. You gasped and Chris instantly backed up.
“Shit, shit, shit. There’s a motion sensor.” Chris said anxiously. Sam rushed over and shut the light off as fast as he could.
Suddenly, blood rushed in your ears, and your face felt hot. Your knees were weak, you grabbed at the wall, trying to stop yourself from falling.
Luckily, Matt grabbed you under your arm and helps you steady yourself. “Woah! Holy fuck, Y/n. You okay?”
“I-It must be my iron deficiency. I’m good.” You reassured Matt, giving him a shaky smile.
But your heart continued to pound. You couldn’t help but feel like you’d disrespected something by the extra light coming on, and it had taken its anger out on you.
You’d already broken one of the rules, and you were only 20 minutes in.
When you reached Colby’s old bathroom, you climbed in the bathtub and sat criss-crossed with your candle in your lap. Matt laughed.
“It looks like you’re trying to summon something.”
“Isn’t that the goal of this ritual?” You smiled at him.
“Fair point.” He hoisted himself onto the countertop as the other four boys filed in. Nick and Chris stood by the door, and Sam and Colby sat on the counter opposite Matt.
You stared at the flame in your candle. Flickering, causing shadows to dance on the wall. Warm, hot… something in your gut told you to touch it. No, don’t do that. But it looked so inviting—
Nick snapped you out of your thoughts. “Y/n? Are you okay? You’re pale.” He studied your face. “You need some water? A mint?”
The boys were all staring at you. “What? Oh, I’m fine. Sorry.” You flushed at the attention, yours eyes instantly finding Matt’s. He was frowning. You knew he could tell you were lying.
After a few minutes of jokes and hushed conversation with nothing eventful happening, Sam and Chris headed downstairs to change out the camera battery. Matt took that as a sign to come sit next to you in the tub.
“What’s going on? You keep spacing out a bunch. I know it’s not just your iron levels. Do you feel something?”
You contemplated whether to tell him. You didn’t exactly know what you were feeling, but it scared you. You opened your mouth to explain, but suddenly there was a loud knocking sound.
You jumped and turned to Matt, whose hand found your knee. Colby straightened up and called out. “Sam? Chris?”
No response.
You suddenly stood up, as if your legs were guiding you. “I’ll go check on them.”
Matt followed suite. “I’m coming with.”
“No you’re not, it’s fine.”
“What if your candle goes out?”
“I have a match.”
“Y/n.”
“Matt.”
Nick looked between the two of you before commenting, “Matt, let her go, it’s fine. You know she’s more spiritually inclined than the rest of us. She can handle herself. Plus, it makes good footage for the video.”
You nodded at Nick and mouthed a “thank you” before stepping into the hallway.
You pulled out your phone to record, thinking that YouTube would probably want to see footage of you walking alone in a creepy, demon infested house. Because that’s what got views.
You slowly walked over to the staircase and began to descend, phone in one hand, candle in the other. “Sam? Chris?” You called out, creeping down each stair ever so carefully.
A shadow darted across the room below. You almost screamed, but before you could, you tripped, sending you flailing down the stairs.
You landed at the bottom, dazed. You lifted your head, your vision blurry. You were breathing heavily.
Your candle had gone out.
“Fuck.”
It had already been ten seconds.
“Fuck!”
Cold fear hardened in your lungs and each breath of air became a burden as your eyes pricked with tears. Then you heard a voice say your name.
“Chris?” You looked around, swearing it was Chris’s soft voice that had spoken your name. But he was nowhere to be seen. You hugged your knees to your chest, rocking back and forth for what seemed like hours before—
Sam and Chris emerged from the shadows.
“Y/n? What the fuck happened? Are you okay?”
“Your candle!”
You looked up at Chris, your eyes full of childlike tears. He took your hand and helped you up, pulling you into a hug. He grabbed your phone off the floor and hit the red button, stopping the video you had been taking.
“Hey, you’re alright. It’s okay.”
Sam stood frozen behind him.
“I’m so sorry. This was just supposed to be fun. I didn’t mean to put you guys in danger at all but now…”
“He’s coming for me.” Slipped out of your mouth, finishing Sam’s sentence. “It’s okay, Sam. It’s not your fault.” Chris pulled back, hands on your shoulders, and looked at you, face full of concern.
“What? Y/n— did you hit your head?”
“The candle was out for more than ten seconds.”
Chris’s eyes widened in realization.
“We have to continue with the ritual. It’s okay, we can burn sage, or some shit, for me later. But for now, we have to keep going. Or he’s going to get angry.”
Sam looked worried. “But—“
“Listen, I can feel his energy. He’s getting more frustrated by the second. We have to continue investigating.”
Sam and Chris looked at each other. Chris nodded hesitantly.
“If she says she’s okay, then she’s okay.” He clarified. Sam nodded back.
You were most definitely not okay. But you had to do the ritual. Or else, he would be angry.
“If you say so… um, here.” Sam thrust a rosary into your hand. “I don’t know if your religious but…”
You swallowed and slipped the rosary into your pocket. “I better become it. Or this Midnight Man is going to possess the hell out of me.”
another part coming soon!
a/n: i’m not even catholic but i carry a rosary that was blessed by a priest when i go ghost hunting bc i don’t wanna get fucking possessed so anyway i hope that didn’t offend anyone

"Is anyone gonna join us?" Colby asked, packing his camera into his bag.
"Actually, yeah, some girl that Celina referred from the home town," Sam replied. "She's supposed to be a medium." He added.
The two guys finally we're going to investigate the infamous orphanage that is supposedly haunted by the spirits of the children that died. They had finally done the research and were ready to go investigate.
"Cool, what's this girl's name?" Colby inquired.
"Uhm, I think it's y/n?" Sam stopped to think, pulling out his phone. "Yeah, I texted her this morning letting her know we're going to catch a flight there, she's our ride." Sam chuckled, putting away his phone into his pocket.
Colby let the name sit in his brain for a little, hoping to remember it later. It wasn't long before they were on their flight there. It was quite a while, editing and looking over their notes.
When they landed, Sam kept searching for her face and Colby totally lost who they were supposed to look for. Sam's eyes soon lit up, recognizing her in the crowd. He waved at her, bringing her attention towards them.
Colby finally noticed who they looked for, catching a glimpse of her. He felt his body heat up, flustered at her beauty. She was gorgeous, her hair running down her shoulders and her smile radiating through the crowds of people passing, he was surprised he didn't notice her earlier. She'd look like your typical medium, having a great style in all black, wearing an oversized band shirt, black sleeves underneath that hung over her jeans.
"Hey guys!" Y/n greeted them, hugging Sam then moving over to Colby.
Colby felt his heart flutter and couldn't help but take her scent in, practically intoxicating. As she pulled away from her embrace, Colby couldn't help but feel disappointed. She offered them a smile and a hand with their luggage, but they declined the help.
They moved their things into her car, ready for the trip over to their hotel. On the way there, she played music that practically matched Colby's taste. He felt as if he found his soulmate then and there.
Sam kept asking her about herself and getting to know her.
"So tell me, what type of medium are you?" Sam wondered. "If you don't mind me asking, of course."
"It's okay, I like answering these, well, it's weird but I sorta have different types of abilities," Y/n began, steering the wheel. "I can let spirits communicate through me, so I'll channel them into my consciousness, letting them talk." She answered.
"Other abilities? like what?" Colby asked, curious as he leaned forward in his seat.
"Well, I'm sure you have other mediums with my ability to see beyond what you guys can see," Y/n chuckled, amused at their curiosity. "I sort of have a heightened sense and I can see actual spirits walking around and hear whispers."
"You know, I think you're the only medium we met who can just surrender themselves to let spirits talk through them." Sam chuckled.
"Oh well I don't do it often, only with spirits I trust." Y/n added.
As she finished her sentence, they had finally made their way to their hotel. It didn't take long before the three of them were inside the room, talking about random stuff. Colby couldn't help but watch her as she laughed and moved around the room.
"What's so interesting about Nebraska?" Sam joked, starting a conversation.
"If i'm being honest," Y/n sighed. "Nothing." She laughed.
"Oh, that's great," Sam laughed back. "I don't want to get into the video already, but tell me, why is Nebraska so significant with orphanages?" He continued, pulling out his camera and beginning to record.
"Well, do you guys know about the Orphan Train Movement?" She asked, leaning back on the bed she sat on.
"No, never really heard of it." Colby replied, shaking his head.
"Well, Nebraska is like the center of all the railways, so in the 1850's all the way until the 1920's, people would send orphans on the train from like the crowded East Coast cities into the midwest, mostly Nebraska," Y/n explained. "So, we used to have a lot of orphanages just like Haven Orphanage." She continued.
"Really? that's really interesting." Sam commented, facing the camera towards her.
"Yeah, again I don't really have much knowledge about it but that's what I know," Y/n corrected. "Hopefully the guide will explain it better."
Y/n decided it's best if she lets them settle in, letting her also collect herself and prepare for their investigation. she said her goodbyes before leaving. She had to admit, she had a crush on Colby for a while. But she didn't want to feed her delusions and say he felt the same, telling herself he was probably being friendly.
When she had left, Sam turned over to colby.
"You so have a crush on her." Sam laughed.
Colby turned red, covering his face, "Shut up." He muttered.
"Hey, I just never seen you so quiet around a girl," Sam admitted. "Come on, you gonna make a move?" Sam enticed him.
Colby sighed for a second, looking at his best friend, "I-i don't know, she's only being nice, I don't want to embarrass myself and get rejected."
"Really? Colby Brock getting rejected? Haven't seen that happen yet." Sam teased.
Colby rolled his eyes, playfully. "Whatever, let’s just focus on this investigation for now." he averted the subject.
Sam just gave him a look, as if it wasn't over just yet. He agreed to his friend's idea, pulling out his notes and taking more notes.
Six o'clock came a lot earlier than they hoped, making their way to the orphanage. As they pulled into the building, they noticed y/n already waiting out front for them. Colby felt his heart beat a bit faster seeing her there. He examined her outfit and her demeanor, admiring her.
They began making their way up towards the front doors, seeing the guide also there. It didn't take long for y/n to turn around and notice them, putting a smile on her face and her heart to melt a bit seeing colby.
"What's up guys?" Y/n offered them a smile. "I was just talking to Morgan here about the building." She pointed towards the other woman.
They greeted their guide, offering a warm greeting. They all introduced themselves, joking and laughing a bit.
"Well, are you guys ready for the tour?" Morgan asked them.
"Yeah, for sure lead the way." Sam nodded, following her.
"Well this building was built in 1863, it was originally an orphanage named Haven Orphanage for Moved or Unwanted children," Morgan started, pointing towards the building. "It's said to be haunted, due to cruel conditions like overcrowding and shortage of supplies. The government didn't really want to pay for any orphanages, unfortunately causing it to be absolute hell for the children and staff." She continued, clasping her hands together.
"Yeah, off the bat I already feel like some negative energy," Y/n motioned with her hands towards the building. "Like I feel a negative spirit lurking."
"Yeah, so that you're feeling is Ruby," Morgan clarified. "She was one of the staff, she was very cruel to the children and it's rumored she sold her soul to the devil for the place to keep standing, but unfortunately she passed away from unknown causes." She continued.
Everyone looked around, widened eyes painted on their faces.
"Wow, okay so more demons." Sam chuckled.
"Well, it's not all bad energy," Morgan stopped him. "There's a lot of children spirits in here, they're rather playful and kind. But they do like to mess with you so don't get too scared from it." She added.
"Wait, why am I kinda excited," y/n replied, covering her smile. "I never talked to children's spirits before." She admitted.
"Well, it'll be a new experience for everyone then." Morgan chuckled, "Shall we start the tour then?" She suggested.
The group agreed, making their way into the building. Immediately everyone looked around the place, noticing the different decor and admiring the ceilings.
"So, as you can see, the building has a lot of character to it," Morgan pointed out. "But don't be fooled, there are a lot of dark corners of this building."
Aas they went deeper into the hallway, they looked around seeing the admission office and different classrooms.
"This was the classrooms, they would attend school here but the staff wasn't very kind," Morgan began. "A lot of the staff would use punishments that were unorthodox, like paddling which was spanking with a wooden paddle." She added.
Colby looked over to Sam, "Maybe I should be punished." He whispered, causing y/n and Sam to laugh a bit.
They soon wandered up the stairs, examining the stained glass on their way up. Y/n smiled as her eyes traveled around the beautiful structure, while Colby couldn’t help but watch her move and how beautiful she was.
When they made their way up, they noticed the many bedrooms with bunk beds. As y/n began following the guide, she heard a loud metallic thump in one of the rooms. She jumped a bit, surprised by the sound. Unexpectedly, she jumped back into Colby's arms, causing her to become embarrassed.
Colby's hands were wrapped around her for a moment before y/n, releasing her when she cleared her throat and looked down flustered. “Sorry, that just scared the shit out of me.” She muttered, placing a hand on her chest.
“That's probably Billy,” Morgan mentioned, pointing towards one of the darkened rooms. “He likes to mess with tourists, he’s a prankster but he’s harmless.” She added.
Y/n couldn't help but notice a small figure move out of her eyeline, causing her to swing her head towards the room. The guys followed her swift movements, examining the dark room.
"Did you see something?" Colby asked her, looking back at her.
Y/n tried focusing her eyes into the darkness, but nothing came up, "Could've sworn I saw something..." She whispered.
As Sam pointed the camera towards the darkness, he zoomed into the room. "Well we definitely have to come back here for something," he commented.
As they continued making their way further into the building, Colby couldn't keep his eyes off her. She was beautiful at every angle, he wanted to protect her from anything and everything. Y/n noticed his gaze, being a medium and all, and turned to him. Colby quickly averted his gaze off her, flustered yet again and awkwardly kept walking.
Y/n blushes as well, trying to rationalize. She cleared her throat as she began making her way towards one of the bedrooms.
"This was one of the girls' rooms," Morgan explained, pointing towards the different bedsheets of muted pinks and purples. "This doesn't have much activity besides a little girl who likes to sing from time to time, she's a rather sweet ghost."
"Sam, this one should be your favorite," Colby teases, mentioning the Sallie house.
Sam laughs, facing his friend, "I think I'm okay without another attachment."
They all exchanged laughs as they averted their attention towards the sudden faint sounds of footsteps, followed by the rocking chair in the corner slowly creaking as it rocked back and forth.
They went silent, looking at each other and back at the scene. But the chair just ceases its movements.
"Okay, what the actual fuck." Colby whispered, covering his mouth in shock.
Y/n felt a cold touch travel down her arm, as if someone swiped her arm. She looked around, trying to find the source. She felt a faint whisper in her ear, a name.
"That was the little girl, her name is Beth if you would like to talk to her." Morgan suggested.
Y/n's jaw flew down, realizing what the name was. "You're kidding," she gasped. "I literally heard like a whisper or something with that name." She announced, crossing her arms as she felt the cold begin to engulf her.
Sam and Colby turned to her, eyes widened in surprise.
"Oh my god, maybe Beth wants to talk or something?" Sam considered, pointing the camera towards her direction.
Y/n nodding, agreeing. She had experiences like this, but never this strong. She felt like her body was vibrating and buzzing with the constant movements and voices.
"Are you okay?" Colby asked, furrowing his brows as he noticed her body shake.
Y/n nodded slightly, closing her eyes as she took a deep breath. "Yeah just there's so much happening right now, I keep hearing different types of voices and seeing figures around the corner of my eye." She mentioned.
Colby's eyes washed over with concern, having the need to protect her. "Did you want to take a break or anything?" He asked her, worry coated in his voice.
Y/n smiled at his empathy, "I'll be okay, just my body is buzzing a bit, but thank you." She breathed out, flustered at his concern.
Before they knew it, they had made their way to the darkest part of the building. The basement was where supposedly a lot of the children died from cruel punishments, creating a lot of angry spirits.
"Okay, so before we make our way around," Morgan began, turning back to the group of people. "There is a lot of negative energy here, they will try to hurt you. People always leave here with scratches and even have been pushed off the stairs going to the basement." She warned.
The group felt tense, nervous about what comes next. When they entered the dimly lit room, they could barely navigate through the dark basement as they stayed close to each other.
Y/n heard something fall, causing her to jump forward and instinctively grab the person's hand. That person being Colby. She blushed as she realized who it was, clearing her throat and mumbling an apology.
"It's okay," Colby assured, smiling but she couldn't see it. "You can hold my hand if you want, I'm sorta shitting bricks right now too." He chuckled, stretching out his hand to her.
She felt her heart skip a beat, hesitantly reaching for his hand. As she grabbed onto his hand, she felt her body rush with electricity. Y/n was glad that the room was too dark to see her flustered face.
"Alright guys," Morgan sighed, stopping under a lightbulb. "This was where most of the children actually died." She mentioned.
Y/n felt a wave of sadness coarse through her body, her lip beginning to quiver. Colby looked over to her, seeing the glisten of her tears.
"Hey, you okay?" He asked her, his brows furrowed with worry.
"Y-Yeah, I just felt this wave of sadness," she sniffled in response. "like I feel them telling me something so horrible happened to them." She added.
Colby felt sad to see her cry, wanting to wipe her tears away. Instead he gripped onto her hand firmly, reassuring her.
Morgan nodded at her comment, "It was actually gruesome," she began. "The kids would be punished here, starved, even beaten. A lot of that resulted in death."
Everyone in the group frowned, so much remorse for the poor children's lives that were lost.
"But," Morgan cut in. "Like I mentioned before, there is an adult spirit who haunts here, Ruby. It's rumored she was murdered down here or the other theory was she was pushed out of one of the windows."
They thought for a moment, feeling a cold chill rush through them causing them to shiver for a bit.
"Did you guys feel that?" Sam asked, pointing the camera towards them, ignoring their grasp on each other.
The two nodded, their eyes darting throughout the basement.
"Man, I don't like the vibe I'm getting here." Y/n whispered, trying to inch closer to Colby.
Colby agreed, lacing his fingers through hers as he pulled her closer to his body. He felt so protective of her, wanting her to be safe.
"Yeah, we don't want to be down here for too long," Morgan began making her way back to the exit. "People get seriously hurt here." She added, sternly.
Y/n's eyes widened, looking up at Colby. He looked back once he noticed her glance and smiled as he guided her towards the exit.
Once they exited the creepy basement, y/n let go as she thought Colby wouldn't want Sam to see their hold, causing Colby to become disappointed.
Morgan led the group towards the front of the building, Y/n walking alongside with her as Sam and Colby hung behind them.
"Dude, I saw you guys down there," Sam smirked, grabbing Colby's attention. "You know, holding hands," He teased.
Colby rolled his eyes as he flustered at his best friend's teasing, "So what?" He murmured.
"Admit it, you like her, don't you?" Sam asked, wiggling his brows slightly.
This only caused Colby to get more embarrassed, looking away from his best friend.
Sam only chuckled, reaching the doors to the building as they parted ways with Morgan. They thanked her, offering her farewells, and advice.
As soon as Morgan left, the group looked at each other. Y/n tried to avoid her gaze on Colby, not wanting to seem desperate for his attention.
"Alright, I think we should use the spirit box," Sam began, rummaging through his bag. "And I have some toys that might interest the kids." Sam added as he pulled out various children's toys and the infamous Alice box.
"Okay, sounds good." Colby agreed, nodding with the plan.
Y/n bit her lip, trying to figure out something she heard in the building. She figured it was nothing, brushing it off slightly. They began making their way back towards the doors they just exited, seeing the dark hallways stretch down.
Y/n froze for a moment, her eyes trying to adjust to the darkness. Soon, she started making her way towards the two who had already made it halfway down the hallway as they discussed plans.
She tried to catch up to them, but stopped when she saw it. She stopped at the intersection of hallways, staring down the much larger hallway.
Colby looked behind him, seeing y/n stuck in a trance like state. He made his way back to her, nudging her to see what's wrong.
"Y-You guys don't see it don't you?" She whispered, her eyes glued on the other side of the barren hallway.
Colby and Sam looked over to where she was staring, unable to locate the problem.
"No, Y/n we only see the hallway." Colby shook his head, worry creeping into his skin.
As Sam tried to begin his sentence, Y/n quickly cut him off.
"Holy fuck, that thing just moved." Y/n whispered, her hands shaking a bit.
"What? What did you see?" Sam asked, looking around the hallway.
Y/n turned to the two, her eyes widened slightly.
"Okay, as I was about to make my way towards you guys," y/n explained. "I stopped because I heard this whisper, almost telling me to come over here kinda. So I look down the hallway and I see this fucking thing, it was like tall and black and clothed with some weird black clothes, it kept staring at me even when you guys came over. Then it grinned and walked away." She elaborated, her voice beginning to shake as she covered her mouth a bit with her shaking hand.
Sam and Colby look at each other for a moment, worried.
"Yeah, okay so already a lot of shit is happening." Sam sighed, feeling a pressure build up in his chest.
Colby nodded, licking his lips as he began to speak, "let's just get this investigation over with so we can leave," he suggested. "Are you okay to keep going?" He asked Y/n, his brows furrowed.
Y/n nodded her head, exhaling a deep breath out. "Yeah, just that freaked me out but i'm sure it's nothing." She convinced herself.
With that, the three made their way to one of the bedrooms, trying to contact one of the nicer spirits.
"Okay guys, so we have the new Alice box," Sam pointed the camera to the machine. "It's like a spirit box, reading through channels and frequencies so the spirits talk through it." He explained.
Y/n looked around the room a bit, examining the surroundings well. Colby couldn't help but stare at her face, watching as her eyes darted around. Y/n looked over to Colby's glance and Colby smiled a bit, causing her to blush yet again. She's lost track of how many times she caught him doing things that she keeps reading into. Clearly he's being friendly, but really how friendly?
"Okay let's ask some questions for the little girls that stay in this room." Sam began, clasping his hands after he turned on the small device.
"...hello?..."
A female voice rang throughout the room, the echo bouncing off the walls. Y/n furrowed her brows, pulling out her notebook as she began to scribble words that came up in her mind.
She stopped at the word, she looked down and thought of it for a moment. She noticed something, a pair of eyes on her notebook. But it wasn't a spirit, just colby snooping. She smiled a bit, turning her notebook over to Colby.
He looked at her then lined the pieces of paper with the random ink on letters and drawings. As he read the words, suddenly the Alice box answered.
"...chair..."
Colby's jaw hung open, looking over to Sam and the paper. Y/n's actions mimicking his.
"Dude," y/n gasped, displaying her notebook to Sam and the camera. "I wrote that not even 2 minutes earlier, Colby saw it too." She explained.
Sam’s mouth hung open a bit, shocked. "No fucking way."
But before they could say anything else, the Alice box spoke again.
"...girl..."
"I mean, this is the girl's room." Y/n explained. The two guys nodded, still confused what the spirits are trying to say.
"...man... hallway..."
Y/n froze, goosebumps running down her body. "Oh my god, it's talking about that thing I saw." She whispered.
"Do you know the thing that Y/n saw in that hallway?" Colby asked into the open air.
The Alice box stayed silent for a moment, occasionally spewing random words that didn't make sense. But as they were about to turn it off, it spoke.
"... can't say..."
"Can't say? Why can't you say anything?" Y/n asked yet again, scribbling into her notebook.
"...won't..." "...let us..."
"He maybe has a hold on them," Sam suggested, rubbing his chin slightly. "It's possible it's a demon." He added.
"...evil..."
They looked at each other and didn't say anything for a moment, Y/n turning her notebook over to reveal the word written on the paper. evil.
Then the rem pod near the door started going off, a chill running down Y/n's back as the room became cold.
"Okay, this is actually so freaky," Sam chuckled a bit, pointing the camera towards the door. "The rem pod went off after Y/n wrote evil AND the Alice box said evil."
Y/n sat up, ears perking up a bit as she listened carefully to the air. "Okay, I don't know if it's just me, but the room went completely freezing, and I feel something negative in here." She blurted out.
"Yeah, I feel the cold," Sam agreed. "Could it be that thing you saw earlier?" He inquired.
Y/n shook her head, "No, that was like paralyzing fear," She noted. "This one.. it's just mad." She whispered out.
Concern painted on Colby's expression, clearly reading her body language as uncomfortable.
"Hey, maybe let's end it in this room," Colby proposed. "A lot more places to investigate."
Sam nodded, reaching for the equipment as he turned it off. Y/n sat up, but quickly recoiled forward. Colby noticed it, confused.
"You okay?" he asked, helping her stabilize herself.
Y/n looked around as Colby held onto her arm. "Y-Yeah, just something pushed me," She answered. "like I was standing up, and I felt a shove on my upper back."
The group quickly exited the room, making their way down to the basement. They were going to explore more of the place, but seeing how y/n kept being targeted clearly for her abilities they weren't comfortable making her go through it.
The feeling of uneasiness returned, entering the frigid basement. The dim light still remained on, barely illuminating the space around them.
"Alright guys, we're going to the basement," Sam mentioned into the camera, showing the dark room. "We're going to do the Estes method down here, Colby is going to do it today." he spun the camera towards Colby's direction, zooming into his face.
"Wow, face of excitement right there." Y/n joked, causing Colby to break his monotone expression to light up with laughter.
She felt her heart jump, hearing his laughter brightening her spirit up. She could listen to it all day if she could. Colby soon sat on the barren concrete floor, Y/n handing him the blindfold followed with the headphones. His hands brushing up against her, followed by a smirk on his face.
She cleared her throat, backing away from him.
"Alright Colby, can you hear us?" Sam asked, testing out the volume. Colby doesn't say anything, listening to the random static coming through the headphones.
"Okay, whoever dwells in this basement, are you the supposed member of staff that passed away?" Sam questioned, awaiting Colby's answer.
"Perhaps." Colby replied.
"So it's a bit sassy." Y/n chuckled a bit followed by Sam's chuckles.
"Well, is it true you did rituals to keep this place running?" Sam added.
Colby stayed silent for a moment, trying to listen carefully to the voices ringing through.
"Force." Colby blurted. "protect," he continued.
They looked at each other, trying to decipher what was spoken.
"What did you do to protect this building?" Y/n asked, furrowing her brows.
"Colby." Colby said. "Crush."
Sam looked over to y/n and smirked a bit, "I think it's speaking for you."
Y/n smacked Sam playfully, a blush covering her face.
"Kissing," Colby furrowed his brow under his mask. "Tree."
Sam bursted into laughter, nearly dropping to the floor. Y/n covered her face with her hands, embarrassed. Colby, still oblivious to what's happening, is still spewing out words. Sam tapped him, alerting him to pull out of his trance.
Colby removed his blindfold, followed by the headphones. He noticed Sam's laughter and Y/n's embarrassed face behind her hands.
"What? What happened?" Colby asked, curious why Sam was practically rolling on the floor.
Sam calmed down, wiping the tears out of his eyes. “It said kiss and then tree,” Sam coughed a bit. “It was teasing you.” He pointed towards Colby.
Colby's face became warm, blushing until his face was red, “Yeah real funny, Sam.” Colby muttered with a sigh.
Y/n cleared her throat, cheeks still flaming hot. "Well, let's just continue what we came here for." Y/n grumbled, her arms folded on her chest.
Sam wiped his eyes, cooling down from his laughter. "Wow, that was too good."
Sam began making his way towards the stairs, leaving Y/n and Colby behind his trail.
"Sorry about him." Colby let out with a sigh, rubbing his neck.
Y/n smiled up at him slightly, "I-Its okay, I know he's just teasing." She blushed.
Colby simply nodded, not wanting to make her uncomfortable. It wasn't too long before they had explored the whole place, investigating where they could. But then the time to sleep in the actual building came, which y/n began overthinking about. She knew she agreed to sleep alone, but she was too scared after her encounter with that thing in the hallway.
"Alright guys, it's time for us to split up and sleep in separate rooms," Sam urged. "We figured with the whole Y/n seeing the spirit in the hallway, we're going to sleep in rooms next to each other just to ensure safety." Sam explained.
Y/n fiddled with her fingers slightly, anxiety beginning to heighten. She bit her lip as they began setting up camp in their rooms. She grabbed her sleeping bag, making their way towards one of the girl's rooms. her heart began beating against her chest as she sat on top of her sleeping bag, listening to every crack and noise around her.
She rubbed her face, trying to distract herself from her thoughts. But then she heard a faint knocking on the window directly behind her. She just stared at the moonlight that illuminated through the glass in front of her. She quickly sat up, quickly walking towards the closed door. As she opened the door, Colby's chest pressed up against hers. She yelped as she got freighted by the unexpected visit.
Y/n pressed her hand onto her chest, trying to calm herself down. "Holy shit Colby, you scared the fuck out of me!" She lightly slapped his chest.
Colby chuckled a bit, trying to lighten up the mood, "Sorry, I couldn't sleep, plus I knew this was your first time staying alone in a haunted place so I wanted to keep you some company." He admitted.
Y/n felt her heart softly flutter, touched by his gesture, "Yeah, I sorta kept hearing things, I was gonna go to you." She confessed.
Colby smiled, glad she found comfort in his presence, "Mind if I sleep in the same room as you then?" He requested.
"Not at all," Y/n quickly replied, walking back to her sleeping bag onto the floor. Colby followed, his pillow and sleeping bag in his hands. "I wonder if Sam is shitting himself alone." She chuckled as she hugged her knees close to her chest.
Colby sat next to her as he laid out his temporary bed, chuckling at the comment, "He'll be fine," He waved off, "After he laughed at us,he can sleep by himself."
Y/n laughed a bit, looking down towards the floor. Colby couldn't help but stare at her, admiring her features in the moonlight. She noticed his gaze, moving her attention back towards him.
"W-What?" She asked him, confused.
"Nothing," Colby shrugged. "You're just really beautiful." He whispered.
She flustered as she looked away as her cheeks painted with a deep color, "Oh, stop it." She muttered, playing with her fingernails.
Colby's fingers landed on her jaw, moving her to face back towards him. She looked up into his eyes, seeming to get pulled closer towards him.
"Well, it's true," He added, but couldn't help but lean towards her lips as his eyes kept glancing to her eyes and back to her lips. "I couldn't stop staring at you all day," he revealed.
She felt her body heat up, unknowingly pressing closer to him. "Well, maybe I knew," She replied, feeling his hand on top of hers. "Maybe I was staring too."
With that, Colby's lips landed on her. She gladly accepted as her lips pieced together perfectly. Colby's hand laced with hers, like previously that night. He lightly held her face, his thumb rubbing her cheek.
But soon, Colby pulled away, leaving them panting as they rested each other's forehead on one another. Y/n couldn't help but smile and chuckle a bit, causing Colby to wonder.
"What?" He wondered.
"Nothing," She added, rubbing her thumb on his hand. "Just, there were at least three little girls in here giggling." She confessed.
Colby let out a laugh, pulling away as he looked around the room, "Well, you guys should give us some space." He announced into the room.
The next morning, the sun began to shine through their window. The rays of light hitting their eyes, causing their eyes to flutter open. Y/n was the first one to notice him, seeing his wide smile on his face. Sam pointed the camera at the two, giggling as he noticed her to wake up.
Y/n looked over next to her, noticing the boy clung onto her as he laid onto her chest. She threw her pillow towards Sam, causing him to laugh loudly which woke up Colby. Colby rubbed his eyes, adjusting his vision to the bright room.
"What the-." Colby grumbled, looking up towards y/n's tired face.
"Dude, how long have you guys been cuddling?" Sam exclaimed, putting away the camera.
"Shut up sam." Colby muttered, his head landing onto his pillow. y/n sat up, covering her face.
"Sam, it's too early for this, can you please leave us alone." Y/n groaned.
"Fine, fine I'll let you love birds be." Sam teased, wiggling his brows a bit before he shut the door behind him as he left.
Y/n looked over to Colby who was laying on his side. She smiled a bit, still exhausted. He returned the smile, still amazed by her beauty.
"Does this mean you'd go out with me? or do you already know that I was gonna ask you out?" He finally asked.
Y/n chuckled dryly, "Colby, I’m a medium, not psychic," She rolled her eyes playfully. "But yes, I will go out with you."
"what's up guys! It's Sam and Colby! And welcome back to hell week!" the brunette boy intensely yells, with the blonde jumping in "Today we are at the famous 'yln' house with one of our favourite guests…. Amanda!" Sam introduces, "Hey guys!!" Amanda smiles and waves to the camera. "do you want to explain who you are for any new watchers?" Colby asks stepping behind the camera, turning so Amanda and Sam are in view. "of course! My name is Amanda and I'm a medium, if you don't know what that is, it's that I can sort of talk to the dead, whether it's through feeling, words or seeing them" the girl softly explains. "how excited are you to be here right now?" Sam asks, glancing at Colby before facing Amanda again, "very excited, I've been wanting to come here ever since I heard about it"
-timeskip-
"so this is y/ns bedroom, she's basically always in here, she doesn't like to leave this room" the tour guide, Becky, says walking backward into a dark room, the paint on the walls was faded and washed away. "it's like her safe haven?" Sam asked looking around the worn-out room. "yea exactly, it's her place of comfort, where she would go and hide from everything and everyone" Becky says slowly approaching the long window. confused faces are shared between the three visitors before one speaks up. "why would she have to hide" Colby asks, "she had a lot against her, including her own family and boyfriend" the forty-year-old, ginger woman sadly says, hesitant to go into depth of the story in case the ghost girl was around and listening.
Amanda's eyes divert away from the group towards the closet behind the view of the camera "She here right now" she reveals, "she is?" the tour guide quickly replies, slightly relieved she didn't open up about y/ns life in front of the (old) young girl, as the last time she did it didn't go down to well. "yea she's stood right there, just listening to us" Amanda says pointing to the closet door. "well hi y/n, I'm glad you could join us" Sam pipes up pointing the camera to the closet door. "yea, please feel free to follow us around while we're here" Colby adds.
I stand in the doorway of the closet, crossing my arms over my body. I watch as the new visitors and Becky talk and look around my beloved room. the blonde girl looks at me and walks over, I instinctively step back and away from her, deeper into my closet, to which she takes a small step back. I look at her blankly and she looks at me with a kind smile, "are you okay?" she whispers, the others can't hear. but before I can answer the familiar, intensely tight feeling in my chest grows. I know what's coming.
Amanda furrows her eyebrows as y/n fades from her view and disappears. "hm" she confusedly hums. "what's up?" Colby asks turning to the girl. "I asked if she was okay and she just left" she replies turning to the brunette boy, her eyebrows still slightly furrowed. "maybe she didn't like that you could see her?" Sam suggests, pointing the camera at the pair. "no" she slowly shakes her head in thought, "I could tell she didn't mind, she seemed to quite like it… it was like she realized something cause her face just dropped, sadder than before, then she just disappeared" the girl continued. "what time is it?" Becky pipes up, "it's urm, 11:20pm" Colby answers after quickly pulling out his phone to check. "ah, she'll be in the basement. she's always there between 11:15 and 4:30am" Becky adds, telling the group where the girl had disappeared to. "should we continue the tour then head down there?" Colby asks turning to Sam, then back to the tour guide, to receive nods in agreement from the group.
-time skip-
"Okay guys it's currently 1am so-" Sam starts while lifting the recording camera up to film the trio, "it's actually 1:23" Amanda corrects him jokingly, "yea yea my bad, it's currently 1:23 and we are about to head down to the basement to try to talk to y/n, Becky, our tour guide, said that y/n stays down there between 11:15 and 4:30am so we have a few hours to try to communicate."
The two best friends stand close to the bottom of the stairs, the older boy looks around the room, the walls and floor are the same colour and dirty, there are chairs and tables piled in the middle of the wall, in the furthest corner there were chains and shackles attached to the wall. the younger explains their current setup to the camera "We have the rem pod up near the corner of the room where y/n would be shackled to the wall and viciously abused by her parents" he begins, "that's actually so sad, she was just a child" Sam sighed turning towards the boy and the camera in his hand.
"hey guys-" Amanda starts, walking down the stairs almost tripping on the last step "Oh fuck" she curses as she stabilizes herself, "you good?" Sam quickly asks, "I'm okay," the girl says, looking up at the boys. Colby and the camera watch as the colour fully drains from her face as she stares behind them as if she's in a trance. "Amanda?" Colby says softly "What is it?"
Sam looks up from the camera screen to see what Colby is talking about, his heart jumping at the sight of Amanda's face. "i-it's y/n" she swallows harshly, her eyes not moving away from the sight in front of her "She's-" Amanda struggles to describe what she sees, it being so sad and unsettling. Colby looks to Sam before turning back to Amanda "Do you want to go back upstairs?" he asks concerned for his friend. "n-no its o-okay" she stutters out, wanting to tear her eyes away but she can't seem to actually do it. "are you sure? we want you to be comfortable and feel safe at all times" Colby carries on, "I'm sure."
the entire conversation Amanda's eyes haven't moved once from the view ahead, as she starts to explain what she sees her stare slightly relaxes, no longer in shock, but doesn't move away. "it's urm, y/n, she's on her knees, her arms held back by the handcuffs on the wall. before she had a few tears in her eyes but she looked okay-ish. but.. but now she's like screaming crying, and she has all these cuts and bruises covering her, literally head to toe, which she didn't have before. it's so real, like she's really being beaten right there in front of us" She quietens dramatically towards the end. "holy shit" both boys say over each other, "I've never seen anything like it before which is why it shocked me so much" Amanda reveals, finally pealing her eyes away from the brutal view. "that's so crazy, it's like she's reliving what happened to her" Colby thinks out loud, "do you think she knows we're here?" Sam asks, his eyes flicking to check the camera is still recording, "I'm not sure, her head is hung looking at the floor" she says stepping closer to the hurt ghost.
"y/n?"
my head shoots up hearing my name, the new blonde girl is standing in front of me again. embarrassment and fear fill me as I scurry back into the corner, attempting to pull my hands to hide myself forgetting about the cold metal they're stuck in. "it's okay, you don't have to be scared, we're here to help you" she says gently, sitting down on her ankles. I lift my head up slowly, looking at her through my hair "W-who are you?" I bring up the courage to ask. "my names Amanda, it's nice to meet you y/n" Her small smile is empathetic but pitiful. I hate it. "how do you know me?" I question furrowing my eyebrows slightly in confusion. "a lot of people know who you are, your house is known worldwide because of what happened to you here" Her words make my heart drop "Worldwide? n-no ppl can't kno-" I begin before letting out a loud pained cry. A long cut on my cheek formed out of nowhere. Amanda's eyes widen in shock, "what the hell just happened" she mumbles. "i-its my parents, t-they t-old me no one c-can know. i-if people know they'll k-kill me-" I struggle to choke out, tears streaming from my eyes. the pain is too much for me to handle, all I can do is cry out in torment until it no longer hurts, even though I know it always will. "the rem pod-" Colby points out to the red circular device lighting up like crazy, Amanda looks between it and me noticing the pattern of the beeps and flashing bright lights match my screams. before it goes dead silent.
"what just happened??" Sam yells with furrowed eyebrows, taken aback and confused. "y/ns gone" Amanda says turning to look up at the boys as she stands she thinks out loud "Hey what time is it?" Colby whips out his phone "It's 4:30 on the dot?" he quietly replies, his mind racing about everything that just happened. "Becky said y/n leaves at 4:30, how have we been down here for 3 hours already, it only felt like an hour- maybe 2" Sam rambles, still not fully processing anything. "I'm not sure, we didn't even get to ask y/n anything," Colby says slightly disappointed. "I doubt we could've anyway, it was like she was actually being physically tortured in front of me, but I don't understand how.." Amanda thinks out loud. it feels like another hour passes with everyone standing in complete silence, trying to make sense of the past couple of hours.
"Why don't we head upstairs and see if we can find her?" Colby suggests, Sam and Amanda nod helping collect the equipment before walking up the stairs. "guys I can't open the door" Amanda struggles with the handle pushing back and forth trying to open the door, "what? let me try" Colby says slipping past Amanda, trying to push the door "Sam it's not opening", "holy shit" Sam curses from behind the camera. Colby forcefully pushes at the door, desperate to get it open, almost hurting his own hands and shoulder barging at the door, when Amanda gets an idea. "hey y/n! if you can hear me can you open the door?!" Amanda calls out, hoping the spirit can hear.
I hear Amanda calling from downstairs, 'Why can't they just open the door?' I wonder as I quickly wipe the stray tears that were falling. I slowly creep out of my room, trying not to make a sound. looking around trying to find the group, I hear the basement door banging, I quickly drop behind the sofa at the loud noise, my heart races in fear. "y/n please open the door" Amanda calls out again from behind the door, I peak out above the couch at the rattling door before letting out a breath in relief. making my way over pulling the door open for Amanda, Sam, and Colby to rush out. Sam quickly slams the door behind them, making me flinch and hide back behind the couch where I previously was, catching Amanda's attention. "thank you y/n" she smiles faintly, looking in my direction. "she's here?" Colby asks following Amanda's gaze pointing the camera towards me. "yea she opened the door for us, she's behind the couch" the blonde girl nods towards me. "ah, well thanks y/n, I was shitting myself" Colby laughs "Me too brother me too" Sam joins in.
I peek over the couch at the chuckling boys, turning over to see Amanda, who was already looking at me, "hey" she says softly. I gulp standing up fully, wrapping my arms around my body, looking between the three. "are you okay? what happened down there?" she warily asks, still keeping her voice soft to not scare me away. i quickly shake my head not wanting to talk about it. "the boys have some equipment so you can talk to all three of us at once, they'll explain what you need to do okay?" she continues, before i can reply Sam starts to speak, "okay y/n we have two flashlights, you can say yes by turning on the red one and no by turning on the blue, this way we can communicate through yes and no questions, are you up for that?" he explains, pointing to each flashlight before waiting for a response. I'm hesitant for a moment but decide to walk over to the red flashlight turning it on, signaling that I'm going to talk to them. "holy shit" "Oh my god" the boys yell in surprise, as they normally would. the loud outburst causes me to turn the light back off and scatter off into the next room, the kitchen.
"guys I don't think she likes loud noises" Amanda states after watching the young girl leave. "what do you mean?" Colby asks, "Well when the door slammed she hid behind the couch, then just now when you guys yelled, she ran out the room" Amanda explains pointing to the door leading to the kitchen. Sam quickly walked into the kitchen, Colby following behind with the camera. "hey y/n, please could you come back? we're sorry for yelling and we won't do it again" Sam says before returning to the living room area where they were previously. Amanda looks over to me walking through the door, my head down staring at the floor. "the door-" Colby points the camera to where I just was, the door slowly swinging shut. "y/n are you frightened by loud noises?" Sam asks, I turn on the red flashlight, yes. "okay, good to know" Colby nods. "are you okay? Amanda told us about what she saw happen downstairs" Colby questions, a little uncertain of the reaction they might get. I stare blankly at them for a moment, I hate talking about it. but it seems clear that they're different from others that's visited here. I leave the red light on but also turn on the blue one. "both yes and no?" Sam points out. "maybe she doesn't know if she's okay" Colby guesses. I turn the blue light off, saying Colby is right. I really don't know if I'm okay.
"Does she even know what happened to her" Sam ponders, pivoting towards his friends? what happened to me? I turn off the red light, leaving the only light source to be the light attached to the top of their camera sitting on the fireplace pointing at us. "oh… I think we should bring out the spirit box, so she can actually talk to us" Sam proposes, excited to use their new device as their previous one stopped working during their last investigation. "yea I agree" Colby nods, beginning to walk to the kitchen table, where their bag of equipment laid. Colby comes back with a black rectangular box with a silver metal rod sticking out of the top, which I guess is the 'spirit box' they just spoke about. he turns it on and places it in the middle of the coffee table. "okay y/n, this is the spirit box, if you just speak into it, it should repeat it so we can hear what you say" Sam explains. I walk and sit on the sofa by the device, I slowly lean forward at the box, hesitantly speaking to it, "hi" I say into it, doubting it will actually work. "hi" it says out, I lean back in shock, it actually works? "hey y/n, so we asked if you knew what happened to you, you said no?" Colby begins the verbal conversation. "what do you mean?" the box repeats, "do you know what happened to you downstairs" he says. "what normally happens. it's the same thing every night, except I thought it would change when people started randomly coming over because they don't want anyone to find out. Obviously, I was wrong..." I mumble, shaking my head in thought. "people randomly coming over? What do you mean?" Sam questions, "I don't know, people just started randomly visiting one day and asking me a bunch of questions, and my parents don't like it at all. Becky comes over a lot and my mum hates her, I don't know why she lets them in, actually, now that I think about it, everyone just walks in with Becky. And when Becky comes alone she just walks right in." I stop talking, drifting into thought about the whole thing before Sam abruptly pulls me out of it "you died y/n" Sam starts before I cut him off. "yea right." i scoff . "I'm being serious-" "stop. that's not funny" I say firmly, my mind races, I can't be dead. They're fucking with me. "I'm sorry but we're not joking. you died on the 19th of October 2007" Colby reveals, his words coated in sympathy. "….what? no that's my birthday I can't die on my birthday that's crazy" I breathe out, they have to be joking, if I were dead I wouldn't be here speaking to them. but then again it would explain why no one can see me. but then how does Amanda see me-
"yea y/n, you died 17 years ago," Sam says sitting on the armchair to my right. "liar."
"they're not lying y/n" Amanda sits next to me on the end of the sofa, "you're lying!" I stand up and away from them, anger and confusion rising through me. "it's okay y/n-" Sam starts before I interrupt him, "No! Shut up you're all lying to me! tell me you're lying! I-I can't be dead I'm right here?!" I yell at them. They don't say anything, all looking at each other, not knowing what to do. "TELL M-E YOURE LY-ING" the box speaks, but it starts cutting out a little due to the volume of my voice, "we're so sorry y/n," Colby says looking up and around the room, as his eyes pass mine, it's like he could tell I'm here, him looking away showed he didn't. "what.. how?!" no one responds "tell me what happened.. please" I sit on the carpet leaning against the wall, bringing my knees against my chest wrapping my fingers in my hair.
"This is what we read online, if you remember anything that's different, please feel free to correct us" Colby starts before starting again, "you and your boyfriend were hanging out here like you did every Saturday as your parents went to the pub all day and would return between 4-7am. one day your parents came home early, at 6pm, and walked in on you and Tyler cuddling on the couch watching a movie."
"Tyler.." I whisper, shivers sending down my spine. I haven't heard that name in so long. "Yeah, he was your boyfriend at the time right?" Sam asks from the couch looking to Amanda to see where I am, Amanda nods in my direction "I- yea. I- keep going" I struggle to find words that can explain what's going through my head, and I give up telling Colby to carry on telling the story.
"it says they went crazy, beat you both black and blue, and kicked Tyler out. quite literally. he stumbled a little but got up and ran home. unfortunately for you, you were stuck here in this house."
"Yeah" I mumble, recalling the next events
"they beat you for hours then dragged you down into the basement handcuffing you to the wall with the shackles"
"stop."
"Are you okay?" Amanda asks, sitting near me on the rug "n-no. just carry on. please."
"Are you sur-"
"keep going."
"Okay.." he starts looking down at his notes to recall the events correctly" The cuffs were tighter than usual, instantly leaving marks on her wrists. they grab the worn-down paddle and the old belt and start repeatedly hitting her while she cries. both parents screaming and shouting profanities and degrading insults at her" a tear falls down my cheek, the memory in my head once a blur now so clear; "disgusting" "disgrace" "whore of a daughter" "all we did for you for nothing" "wasting it all for some boy" "why couldn't we of had a son" replaying from that night. "she cried loudly until there was no tears left in her eyes. she was weak and dangling from her red wrists, small dribbles of blood slipping from the marks caused by the tightness of the metal, that was cutting off her circulation." i drop my head onto my knees hiding my tearful face, my arms wrapped resting on my raised legs, a sob escaping me that only Amanda heard as the spirit box didn't seem pick it up. "her dad hit her across her already bruised face with the belt yelling at her again "you're disgusting, i wish we aborted you when we had the chance." and with the next whack her vision went black." Colby stops the words that fall out of his mouth. "around 36 hours later when your parents went to let you out the basement they found you still dangling just like they left you except you were no longer breathing. they were scared, not for their dead daughter, but for what would happen to them. in the end, they were caught and arrested, prosecuted with life in prison with no chance of parole. and your boyfriend fortunately walks free." Sam ended the explanation.
"fortunately?" I repeat with a scoff, "yea, it's not reported where he is now but we know he's started a new life and is happy," Sam says, glancing at the notes to check he's correct. "dick" I curse banging the back of my head on the wall behind me. "is that not a good thing?" Colby asks confused, "fuck no" I look at him with a glare like he should've known, I mean if he knew all that how didn't he know anything about Tyler. "why not? if you don't mind us asking?" Sam questions. I stay silent for a moment, looking around the room biting my bottom lip, and accidentally making eye contact with Amanda. "what is it?" she asks tilting her head to the side. "he was a huge dick. which is ironic as fuck cause he didn't have one" I shake my head, forgetting the spirit box was on. Colby and Sam laughing reminded me. "right, spirit box, forgot that was a thing" I mumble, "yea sorry y/n," Colby said, still laughing a bit at my previous comment, "s'fine" I nodded, "anyway what's the deal with Tyler?" Amanda asks, I vaguely answer "he hurt me."
"like your parents?" Colby guesses, "yeah sort of, he would hit me with his hands and slam me into walls which I guess is like my parents but he would also-" I cut myself off, why am I telling a bunch of strangers my whole life story. well, I guess they already knew, but they somehow didn't know about Tyler. if they knew about me that must mean others know, right? So they must think that Tyler is a good person too. "fuck" I mumble, "What is it?" Sam questions, "Nothing." "do you wanna continue? you don't have to if you don't want to" Colby speaks sincerely. "it's fine. I guess." I take a breath before continuing. "Tyler would also- I'd tell him no but he- he wouldn't listen to me... i know now that he just wanted me for that kind of stuff, i mean why else would a 24 year old date a 17 year old." I say scoff again, feeling the tears brim my waterline but I quickly wipe them away. Amanda moved closer to me, she went to put a hand on my knee to comfort me but her hand fell straight to the floor, forgetting that I wasn't a living 17-year-old sitting there. I moved my hand onto hers, obviously, we weren't actually touching but in a way we were. She had a big sister energy to her, something I longed for my entire life.
"that's so fucked up I'm sorry you went through all of this y/n," Sam says with a saddened look on his face. "it's oka-" "Okay" I frown, my sentence being cut off. "the spirit box died, it was fully charged when we turned it on" Sam states looking to Colby, who pulls out his phone looking at the time. "we've been talking for hours, its 8am" Colby reveals shocked. "does that mean you're leaving soon?" I ask, my chest hurting slightly. "yea, we need to leave within the hour" Amanda says with a small frown. "please don't leave, I- I don't want you to go" I beg. "we have to y/n, we're sorry" she says, they all stand up and start packing away their stuff.
"so what the fuck was this then? you came into my home, told me that I'm fucking dead, I tell you about horrible shit that I've been through and then you fucking leave?!" I spit angrily at all of them, even tho only Amanda can hear me. I still have no idea how the fuck that's happening. I feel so angry and hurt as I watch them put the last items in the bag.
all of a sudden the lights start rapidly flickering. the shut doors swing open. the furniture flying back and crashes into the closest walls. my heart is racing, I don't know what's happening, and by the looks of it neither does Colby, Sam, and Amanda. "A-Amanda what's happening?" my voice trembles in fear looking around at the room. she doesn't say anything, it's like she can't hear me- how- why- "Amanda?!" I yell but again she doesn't respond, I walk over to her but she doesn't see me. "AMANDA PLEASE" I yell begging her to hear or see me, why can't she no longer know I'm here, what the fuck is happening. I watch as they bolt to the door. 'no.. they can't leave me here alone…' it slams shut.
they jump back and look at each other stunned in fear, "Y/n you cannot keep us here." Amanda shouts firmly. "what do you mean me? how am I keeping you here?" I'm so confused how could I possibly be doing all this? "we command you to let us go" Sam says loudly. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN??" I scream the lights start aggressively flickering even faster, but the hope for them to hear me seems pointless. Colby tries kicking the door down, and Sam joins in trying to help. "guys what's happening" I cry out, watching the three. Amanda turns to me, did she finally hear me?
"y/n you have to let us go" she pleads, "how- what do you mean? I don't know what's happening" I feel my whole body shaking. her face softens as she realizes, "-what?" "what?" "are you doing this?" she tilts her head, "no...or at least not on purpose, this has happened before, and i-i don't know how to stop it" i ramble panicked. "Guys stop" she says to the scared boys "Wha- why" Colby says confused, "she doesn't know what she's doing", "How doesn't she know?!" Sam yells in fear, anger, and confusion. "Sam she didn't even know she was dead" Amanda barely yells back to the boy. the pair look at each other confused then back at Amanda.
As I watch the three talk, I feel my heart beating out of my chest. Amanda turns around and walks over to me. I instantly stepped back and away from her, how could I trust her anymore when she was just going to leave. "y/n it's okay, you need to calm down" she spoke gently, "I can't calm d-down. You guys are leaving me, everyone always leaves me here and i-i can't leave too- I'm trapped here-" it feels like my heart is beating in my head. "trust me okay" she tries to calm me. "n-no, you're just g-going to leave m-me" she takes in a breath looking to the boys then back to me. she probably looks crazy to them. talking to thin air. "ill stay" she nods "What?!" "Amanda no- are you crazy?" the boys yell over each other. "no it's okay, she's not dangerous, she's just lonely" the girl speaks "I'm right here okay y/n" I nod looking into her eyes, the same sisterly feeling coming back. my breathing and heart rate calms down.
"see you got it"
"i-i'm sorry, I didn't mean to I swear-"
"I know I know"
"can we leave now?" Colby asks, still terrified from the nights events, "w-what?" my eyes wide looking between the boy and Amanda, "you guys go, I'll join you in a moment" she says confidently, the boys are wary but don't doubt her, they turn and rush out. "please don't leave me, you just said you'll stay, please its scary here" I beg, a few stray tears fall down my cheeks. I don't know how I still have tears left to cry. "I have to but I'll come back okay? do you trust me to come back?" I shake my head "No one ever comes back" I mumble "but I will. We'll have more time and we can talk okay?" I don't say anything and shake my head again, "you're lying.." I accuse, "I promise I'll be back, I'm not lying to you. I'll be back soon, goodbye y/n", "Wait! please!" I yell as she exits the house. As the door shuts a shiver runs down my spine and then a loud, sharp, high-pitched noise blasts through the house, and all of the windows shatter, shards flying everywhere.
the familiar cold, lonely feeling that left earlier today, returns, filling the building. I sink down leaning against the wall, pulling my knees up into a ball. I'm once again all alone, trapped in this house.

Reader helps design and sell xplr merch for the guys. They are a long time friend that Sam has been into for years (reader is into him too) but for whatever reason Colby and reader are closer. Sam gets jealous/angry even though Colby is with Malia and will ignore or be rude to reader until Colby outs their feelings for each other. Reader and Malia can be super close too since she helps with merch a lot as well ☺️
Basically jealous Sam over readers friendship with Colby bc he looovvveeeeessss them 😆
Summary: I think @thesarahn summed it up perfectly!
“Yeah, I think of we move this down to here, and then add something in that area it would look cute. Like the words on the bottom of the ghost and maybe some flowers or something?” You look at Colby and he nods slowly as he studies the design in front of him, “You know what, I actually like that idea.”
He points, “Have like the, x, p, l, r, here.” He drags his finger, “And then have the ghost in front of the flowers. Yeah.” He nods, giving you a smile, “I like that.”
You hear the front door open and you glance back, “That Sam or Malia?”
He shrugs, “Could be either.”
Malia walks through the door and you smile, “Hey girl hey.”
She laughs, walking up, “Hey.” She gasps, “Oh this is so cute!” She studies the design, “This is going to be the first one to sell out.”
“You think so?” Colby spins his chair towards her and she nods, “Yeah, you have quite the designer.” She smiles at you and you shrug, “I try.”
“Where’s Sam?” She looks around and you shrug, “No idea.”
“He said he had some errands to run.” Colby shrugs, “I’m not sure. He’s been weird lately.”
“Huh, okay.” You shake your head, “Okay so for the color-“ you swipe through, “I did a pink flower version, a blue, white, and green. And clearly on the white shirts they’ll have to be black and so on.”
“I like the pink one.” Malia nods, “That little ghost is just adorable, I can’t get over it.”
Sam walks in, “What do we have?” He walks around to stand by Malia, “Oh I like this. Are we-“
“Yeah, she’s going to move the lettering down bellow and she added a flower print.” Colby swipes through, “I think it’s good.”
“I have another design I’m working on, too.” You pick up your iPad and go to it, “I was thinking something along the lines of crew necks with a little design on the left chest area.”
You lay the iPad down and all three of them agree.
You smile, “Thank you, thank you.” You pick up your iPad again, “oh, Colby. I can finish these tonight and then I can come by tomorrow for you to okay them and then we can send them to the team?”
Colby nods, “Yeah, what time did you say again?”
“Ten. After that I have a meeting at noon with the marketing team to get your stuff into hot topic and then I have a dinner with my mom.”
“You’ll be okay if I just okay them, right?” Colby looks at Sam, “You have that meeting at ten with the Faulkner’s about that hotel at nine thirty.”
You can see Sam looks a little upset, but he brushes it off, “Yeah, dude. I trust you.”
Sam glances at you then to the door, “Oh, Colby.” He looks down at him, “I have to call The Stanley here in a few to get the dates we want to go straightened out if you want to join.”
He nods, “Yeah, I’ll be down.”
You watch as Sam walks away and you let out a sigh, “Alright. I’m going to head home, I’ll see you guys tomorrow.”
They bid their goodbyes and as you’re walking down the steps, Sam glances over at you, “You’re leaving?”
You nod, “Yeah, I’m going to go home so I can work on these. I can send you the final projects once I’m done?”
He shakes his head, “Just bring them tomorrow and let Colby okay them.” You furrow your brows, “Um, okay? Are you okay? Colby said you’ve been acting weird.” You walk over to him and he laughs slightly, “I’m fine. Just stressed.”
“Anything I can do to help?”
“No.”
The speed of which he answered makes you feel like it’s something deeper than just being stressed. You’ve known sam for years. You can read him like a book normally, and right now, the pages are all sticking together.
“Ah, okay. Well if you-“
His phone rings and he nods, “Yeah, thanks.” He put the phone to his ear, “Hello? Yeah, let me go grab Colby.” He walks away and you head to the door. Your mind swirling with possibilities as to what could be bothering Sam.
You liked Sam, a lot, but with how he was acting, it made it seem like he didn’t want that. Like he picked up on it and decided that instead of just talking to you like an adult, he was just going to be an asshole, which also was very unlike Sam.
Later on that night, you decided to just call Colby with you exciting idea, “Hey.”
“What’s up?” Colby answers, and you sigh, “Is Sam there? I have an idea that I think you both need to hear.”
You heard Sam in the background, “Who is it?”
“It’s y/n. She said she has an idea.” Colby pauses and lets out a sigh, “I’ll tell him then, what’s your idea?”
“Did he leave the room?”
Colby’s silence is enough of an answer, so you force yourself to perk up, “Anyway. My idea. I was thinking we could print a hundred, maybe two, just plain black and white xplr hoodies and have you and Sam personally sign them. I think they’d sell out fast.”
“That’s actually a really good idea.” Colby agrees, “I think they’d sell out fast, too. Do you have a design made up, because now that I’m thinking about it, I’m actually really excited about that.”
“Yeah, I can send it the group chat. Hold on.” You put your phone on speaker and grab your iPad, “It’s just a white logo, and I was thinking you guys could just sign the X part of it.” You send it and wait for Colby’s reaction.
“It’s such a simple design, but I feel like our signatures make it more genuine. You know?” He sighs, “I love this idea.”
You laugh, chewing on your cheek, “Am I on speaker?”
“Not anymore. What’s up?”
“Today. When I was leaving, Sam was weird towards me.”
“Weird how?” He asks, “Was he in a mood? He was in one after we got off the call with the Stanley.” You nod to yourself, “I asked him if he was good and he said he was stressed and then walked away.”
“Hmm.” Colby sighs, “I think I know what’s going on with him. But only he can do something about it.”
“What do you-“
“Gotta go. Great idea. See you tomorrow.” Colby hangs up and you scoff, “Uh, alright.”
A few days later, you get the first shipment of sweatshirts in. Within those few days, Colby was really the only person you talked to about anything. Sam would be there, but he wouldn’t be there.
It almost felt like he was ignoring you, or trying to at least.
“What’s up with Sam?” Malia asks, and you look at her, “I have no idea. I wish he would just talk to me. He’s been avoiding me for days is what it feels like.” You open the box and start pulling sweatshirts out, “He acts like I can’t tell when something is bothering him. I’ve known him for years, like.” You sigh and look up at Malia, “Sorry. I’m just-“
“Do you like him?” She smiles and you try to play it off, “No, we’re just friends.”
“Mm.” She raises her brows, “That’s not what Colby said, but.. okay.” She looks up and you tilt your head, “what did he say exactly.”
As she goes to speak, Colby walks in, “Were done with those sweatshirts. I think Sam is going live here in a few, so if you just want to bring us in more hoodies that would be great.” He walks up to Malia and kisses her head.
“we’ll be right in.” You smile at Colby and watch as he walks away before looking at Malia, “As you were about to say.”
She laughs, “The other day, I asked Colby if you two secretly hated each other.”
“I don’t hate Sam.” You shake your head and she nods, “No, I know that. But the reason I asked if you liked him, is because Colby said you both are so in love with each other, yet you both are choosing to do nothing about it.”
You can feel your cheeks heat up, making because you knew Colby was right.
She smirks, walking around, “Just tell him. I can tell Sam likes you, too.”
She grabs an arm full of hoodies, “Come on.”
You grab hoodies and walk into the room behind them. You smile as you see Sam and Colby talking to the fans on live, mainly complaining about their hand’s are cramping up from signing so much.
“This is all for you guys.” Sam points his sharpie at the phone, “We’re signing as fast as we can sign.” He turns, his eyes meeting yours before he looks down to sign a sweatshirt.
Him and Colby trade places, “Malia and y/n just brought more hoodies in for us to sign.” He turns the phone towards you and her, “Say hi!”
You and Malia wave, “Hiiii!”
He turns it back, “We’ll be on the lookout for people tagging us in their posts with them, wearing or whatever with these hoodies.”
Sam nods, “We’re excited to see it!”
“Catch you in a little bit, guys.” Colby smiles and ends the live, “You brought more?”
Malia nods, “Sure did.” She pats the pile with her hand and you look up, “Are you guys taking a break or are you going to keep signing?”
Sam ignores you, flipping through the hoodies and signing each one. Colby looks from Sam to you, “I think we’re just going to keep signing them.” He looks at Malia and she nods, “Come on, let’s go get more.”
You walk out with her following to get more. Eventually, after grabbing some downtime, you sit on one of the offices, working on some more designs.
You perk up a little when the sound of Colby yelling for Sam outside the door catches your attention.
“Yo, Sam, where ya going?”
You look over at Malia and you both were up, moving as quick and quietly to the door as you could.
“Colby.” Sam sighs, “Just go back and sign the hoodies. I’ll be back in a minute.”
“Not until you tell me what has been up your ass.”
You raise your brows and put your hand over your mouth, Malia doing the same as you go back to listening.”
“Nothing. Just like I said a few days ago, I’m stressin’ out with all the filming we have to do within the next few weeks.” Sam replies, “It’s nothing.”
“It’s something, dude.” Colby is persistent, “I want to help you out. It seems like it’s more than just stress.”
You furrow your brows as you wait for Sam to answer.
He doesn’t, and Colby picks up, “Dude, if you’re in love with her, just say that.” Sam scoffs, “What good would that do? She seems to like hanging out and talking to you more than she does with me.”
“Why do you think she’s been hanging out with me and Malia more? Calling me instead of you? Because you’re being an asshole.” Colby pauses, “I’m telling you right now, Sam. That girl is head over heels for you, if you don’t believe me, ask Malia.”
Malia presses her finger to her lips and opens the door to walk out, “Ask Malia what?” The door closes behind her and you can’t help but feel a little more thankful for the two of them.
“Nothing.” Sam mumbles, and Colby laughs, “That y/n and Sam don’t hate each other and that they are infact in love with each other, but yet either of them refuse to do anything about it.”
Sam lets out a sigh, “Just-“ you see the handle on the door go down and you back up, pressing your back against the wall, “Go.. sign the hoodies, I’ll be back out in a sec.”
The door pushes open and Sam walks in. The door closes behind him and you stand there, eyes on him as he faces away from you. He turns around, freezing when he sees you, “I-I, um.” He runs a hand through his hair, “How much of that did you hear?”
“All of it.”
He nods, “Um, I guess..” He takes a deep breath, “I’m sorry for treating you the way I have.” He steps towards you, “I didn’t know what came over me. I just seen you being close with Colby, even though I know he’s with Malia, I just-“
“Sam.”
“Yeah?” He sighs, looking up at you. You step towards him, “Do you love me?”
He nods, “For as long and more than you can ever imagine.” You walk over, hands on his neck to pull him into you for a kiss. His hands grip your waist, pulling you as close as possible.
“I love you, too.” You whisper, reconnecting your lips.
The kiss was deepened and next thing you know you’re on his lap , straddling his hips on the couch.
He rolls you over, laying you down as gently as he could, “Think you can take a break?” He kisses down your neck as you nod, “Yeah.” He kisses back up, holding himself up with one hand while he slips his hand under your sweatshirt with his other.
You gasp as his fingers pinch your nipple, moaning out quietly as he grips and kneads at your boob, “Don’t make me wait any longer, Sam.”
He pecks your lips, “You have a point.” He smiles as he sits up, working on pushing his own jeans down as he watches you get rid of your own. He leans forward, holding himself up as he slowly slips into you.
Your hands grab his shoulders and your legs wrap around his waist, “Fuck.” You gasp, feeling yourself stretch around him.
Sam reaches down, brushing hair from your face before connecting his lips with yours. He swallows your moans as he begins to thrust, slow and deep.
A few of his own moans slip out, “Fuck, baby.”
“Feels so good.”
His lips move with yours as you wrap your arms around his neck. His hand tightens its grip on your thigh as his pace picks up.
You tilt your head back, letting out a moan as your walls squeeze his cock, “F-fuck, Sam.” You look up at him, brows knitted together with pleasure, “Keep going.”
His eyes stay on yours as he keeps his pace steady. He watches as your eyes flutter closed before smashing his lips onto yours. They move in a heated passion, your hands exploring each others bodies as you get closer and closer to the edge.
“I love you.” You whimper, “So fucking much, Sam.”
“I love you, sweetheart.” He peppers kisses all over your face, “You’re so fucking beautiful.” He groans against your lips, his hand coming up to cup your cheek as his forehead rests on yours, “You’re perfect in every way.”
You moan as your back lifts from the couch, “So close.”
Sam kisses back your jaw, “I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
You whine as your legs tighten, “F-fuck, yes, yes.” Your lips part as moans flow through them. Your thighs twitch around his hips as you come undone within his hold.
He kisses down your neck, nipping and sucking at yours skin as he guides you through orgasm, “That’s it, baby. There you go.”
“You sound so pretty.”
“Makin’ me feel so good.” He groans, thrusts picking up, “You have me so close.”
You slide your hand into his hair, biting your lip as his moans fill your ears, “I like making you sound like this.” You whisper, “Fuck, Sam.”
“Anytime you want, baby. M’all yours.” He kisses your neck, burying his face in it as his thrusts grow sloppy.
He pulls your sweatshirt up before pulling out. He groans lowly as his cum shoots out to land on your waist. He lifts his head, pressing a kiss to your lips, “I’m sorry for being a jealous asshole.”
You smile, pressing your hands to his cheeks, “Apology accepted, baby.” You pull him in for a kiss, “Now get me something to clean up with, we have work to do.”
Summary: Some fans have noticed the tension between you and Colby.

You couldn’t remember a time when Sam and Colby weren’t a part of your life. Since the ninth grade, the three of you had been inseparable, navigating high school’s ups and downs as a tight-knit trio. From late-night study sessions that turned into chaotic video game marathons to sneaking into abandoned places long before it became a YouTube sensation, you did everything together.
Now, years later, things had changed—and yet, somehow, they hadn’t. You lived, worked, traveled, and filmed with Sam and Colby. Together, you built something extraordinary: a community of fans who hung on every thrilling exploration, every eerie EVP session, and every hilarious moment of chaos you three captured on camera. To everyone else, it was the dream life. And in many ways, it was.
But there was one thing you hadn’t told anyone—not Sam, not the fans, and especially not Colby.
You’d been in love with him for as long as you could remember.
It had started small, back in high school, when his goofy smile and infectious laughter had the power to light up your worst days. Over time, those feelings grew. The way he moved with quiet confidence, the way he spoke with such passion about the things he loved, the way he looked at you when he thought you weren’t paying attention—all of it made your heart race. And the longer you knew him, the stronger those feelings became.
But you never said a word. It was easier to keep it locked away, buried beneath the easy banter and constant companionship. After all, you had a good thing going. Why risk ruining it?
---
The three of you had just returned from another exploration, this time at an abandoned hospital said to be haunted by the spirit of a doctor who never left. The shoot had gone late into the night, and you were exhausted, sprawled across the couch in your shared Airbnb. Sam was editing footage at the dining table, earbuds in, while Colby sat beside you, scrolling through fan tweets on his phone.
“Did you see this?” Colby asked, holding his phone up to you. “They’re already freaking out about the teaser Sam posted.”
You glanced at the screen, laughing softly at the flood of all-caps comments and heart emojis. “Of course they are. You guys are basically ghost-hunting rock stars.”
He nudged you playfully. “You mean *we* are.”
Your stomach flipped at the way he looked at you, his blue eyes warm and full of that signature Colby charm. You quickly turned your attention back to your phone, hoping he didn’t notice the way your cheeks were heating up.
It was moments like this—small, quiet, and undeniably intimate—that made it so hard to keep your feelings in check.
---
The next morning, Sam burst into the living room, phone in hand, looking equal parts amused and exasperated. “Okay, so... have you seen the comments on last night’s video?”
You and Colby exchanged a confused glance. “What comments?” you asked.
Sam grinned, clearly relishing whatever he was about to say. “The fans are convinced there’s some major sexual tension between you two.”
Your heart stopped. “What?”
Colby’s eyebrows shot up. “Wait, between us?”
Sam nodded, scrolling through the comments section. “Look at this: ‘The way Colby looks at Y/N... y’all, I’m sweating.’” He scrolled again. “‘That whole scene in the basement? Tell me I’m not the only one who noticed the tension.’” He looked up at you both, smirking. “You guys have some explaining to do.”
Your face burned. “They’re reading way too much into it. We’re just... friends.”
“Really good friends,” Colby added, his voice a little too casual.
Sam raised an eyebrow. “Uh-huh. Sure.”
You avoided Colby’s gaze, but you could feel him looking at you. The memory of that basement scene flashed in your mind—the two of you standing close, whispering to each other as the EMF reader flickered in your hands. You’d felt the tension then, too, but you’d convinced yourself it was just your imagination. Apparently, the fans hadn’t.
---
For the next few days, the comments didn’t let up. Fans flooded your social media with edits of you and Colby, complete with romantic music and dramatic captions. At first, you laughed it off, but the more you saw them, the harder it became to ignore the feelings you’d worked so hard to suppress.
Colby didn’t make it any easier. Whether he was aware of it or not, he seemed to be closer than usual—sitting next to you during car rides, leaning in when he talked to you, touching your arm when he laughed. Each moment sent your heart racing, and you hated how obvious it felt.
One night, after a long day of filming, you found yourself alone with him in the living room. Sam had gone to bed early, and the house was quiet except for the hum of the refrigerator. You were scrolling through your phone, trying to ignore the growing tension between you, when Colby broke the silence.
“Do you think they’re right?”
You looked up, startled. “What?”
“The fans.” He leaned back against the couch, his eyes searching yours. “Do you think there’s... tension between us?”
Your mouth went dry. “I... I don’t know. Do you?”
He didn’t answer right away. Instead, he leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. “I’ve been thinking about it,” he admitted, his voice low. “And... maybe they’re not completely wrong.”
Your heart pounded in your chest. “Colby...”
“I’m serious,” he said, turning to face you fully. “We’ve known each other forever, and I don’t want to mess that up. But sometimes... I feel like there’s something more here. And maybe I’ve been too scared to say anything because I didn’t want to lose what we have.”
You stared at him, your mind racing. Was this really happening? “You’ve been scared?” you echoed. “Colby, I’ve had a crush on you since ninth grade.”
His eyes widened in surprise. “You’re kidding.”
You shook your head, a nervous laugh escaping your lips. “Nope. And it’s only gotten worse over the years.”
For a moment, he just stared at you, as if trying to process your words. Then, slowly, a smile spread across his face. “So... what do we do about it?”
You hesitated, your heart in your throat. “I don’t know. I mean, what if this changes everything?”
“Maybe it will,” he said softly. “But maybe that’s not a bad thing.”
He reached for your hand, his touch warm and steady. “We’ve always done everything together, right? Maybe it’s time we figure this out... together.”
You felt the weight of his words, the sincerity in his eyes, and for the first time, you allowed yourself to hope. “Okay,” you said, your voice barely above a whisper. “Let’s figure it out.”
As his fingers intertwined with yours, you couldn’t help but smile. For once, the tension wasn’t something to hide from. It was something to embrace.
