She woke trembling, cotton sheeting clinging to her sweat slicked skin. Another one; how many had it been this month alone? Seven? No…this made eight. Sitting up Rinoa shivered as the cool air from the AC blasted her fevered skin. She looked to her right at the sleeping form next to her. Squall was turned on his side facing away from her, the slow even measure of his breathing indicating she’d not disturbed him.
Peeling back the sheet Rinoa swung her legs to the floor and stood. The thin tank she was wearing was almost transparent from perspiration and a shamed blush rose on her cheeks when she realized the small strip of panty between her legs was soaked. She gave a little sigh and rubbed her arms in the chill air, glancing once over her shoulder to make sure Squall was really, truly asleep.
As quiet as she could she stepped into the small adjoining bathroom, shut the door then flicked on the light. The face that looked back at her from the mirror only fueled her guilt. Her black hair formed a wild halo about her face framing dark eyes that shone just a little too brightly. Her pale complexion was flushed and her lips were swollen plump and pink. “It was just a dream.” She whispered but the memory of hot hands against her inner thighs caused an involuntary tremor to pass through her.
Digging her nails into her palm Rinoa tried to calm her quickening heartbeat. She’d quickly showered and pulled on some of yesterday’s clothes, not wanting to wake Squall by shuffling around in their dresser. She needed some air and after tossing her hair up into a messy pony tail snuck quietly out of their room.
She had no idea what the time was, very early morning if she wagered a guess. The main halls of Garden were quiet and Rinoa made it to the training center without running into a single soul. The monsters inside posed no real threat to her now. Her magic was strong enough to take out just about anything the training center stocked in one or two hits.
The tropical heat hit her like a wall when she entered and she veered left heading straight for the ‘secret’ area. At this hour it would be deserted and she could be alone with her thoughts in the cool night air. Rinoa proceeded along unmolested and quickly walked up the grating to the space that should have been sealed up long ago. She could see the faint blue glow from where the balcony overlooked the main building of Garden in the distance. Almost there.
Her booted feet stopped short on the grate and she narrowed her eyes. Hyne! Was someone here? Rinoa almost turned around but something stilled her. The figure at the railing was somehow familiar though she could only make out the vague outline of broad shoulders. It wasn’t until the magic coiled in the base of her spine made a little pleasurable buzz that recognition hit her.
“You’ve got to be kidding me.”
