Laney was off duty and dressed rather casually today. She wore a gray knit beanie, which was covered in pins and buttons of her favorite video game characters. Unlike her uniform, her navy blue tanktop covered her midriff and her olive pant legs dragged on the floor. If you hadn’t met her before, you wouldn’t know she was ever a member of Team Aqua.

The woman was crouched down on a patch of grass, gigging and clapping. A baby Wynaut danced around her.

Sootopolis Soiree | XSire

There was a loud squawk, a shout, and a thud as the Honchkrow and its passenger landed face-first into the white earth of Sootopolis. The two had flown many miles since the crewmen aboard the ferry had found them holed up in the cargo bay, and now the odds of making a soft landing were slim. The odds of a crash landing were, as always, quite high.

Grimsley brushed the dirt and feathers off of his suit, which had only recently begun to show some wear and tear after years of being worn on a daily basis. And after a cursory inspection of his bird, he returned his feathered friend to its Dusk Ball for some rest.

Squinting in the bright Hoenn sunlight, he peered around at the unfamiliar surroundings before realizing he had made a slight miscalculation with the landing...

"Say... This doesn't look like the Mauville I remember..."

"Watch your back." [ *barges in with a meme* ]

Archie couldn't lie-- it was weird to have the Sootopolis gym leader whispering into his ear, especially with such a cryptic sentence. Just what was that supposed to mean? Why was he warning him so? Archie turned his head slightly, before going to reply."What are ya tryin' to say..?" At that, Archie gave the older male a rather suspicious look. Why should he keep his guard up?

She knew him of course, well- knew of him, personal                levels weren't the highest in regards to the older gentleman. "Mine, is it? I can do that."

The Coordinator gave a rare half-smile, before reaching out and touching the child’s shoulder. Then, he straightened himself and pulled back a few steps, before gesturing to the city around them.

"Well, let me start by telling you this… You’re expected to follow League regulation, you’re expected to accept challenges to your Gym, all of that comes with the job and title. But- in my eyes, there are two kinds of Gym Leaders- there are the good ones, and then, as always, there are the bad ones."

                         ✿ At his smile, her amber eyes glittered. She was so terribly excited for his answer, and she'd been waiting to ask for quite some time. Violet listened intently, hanging onto every word he spoke. She already knew the first two things. The expectations to follow League regulation and the expectations to accept challenges to your Gym. Those things were no big surprise or secret.                          

                         "The good ones and the bad ones? What do you mean by that?" Surely he wasn't going to be all catty and proclaim that he was the best... Then Violet would know she'd made a mistake. But she had a feeling Juan wouldn't stoop to such levels. As he gestured around the city, Violet looked around as well. Nothing had changed about it. "What makes a bad Gym Leader?"
