i got myself an xteink x4 for christmas so of course the first thing i had to do after building the community firmware was patch the boot screen to be a little more fun

I gave into the hype and got myself one of those XTeInk X4 devices. Pretty sure I'm in love. I bought it as a bit of a novelty, but it's fast becoming my favourite way to read.
It's got no apps, no fuss, no distractions. Just me and the words!
My Xteink X4 Setup
After I bought this device last month, I have read a total of 6 books! 🤩 Apparently, the small screen helps me read faster.
An E-Book reader I bought recently. It's an XTEINK X4 and it's TINY.
My son got one from Ali Express, and once I saw it I decided I wanted one too. The build quality feels nice - It has no touch screen, but has buttons instead. it came with Chinese firmware but that was easily flashed out. We used CrossPoint Reader. Also the recent CrossPoint update means that it displays images now. 😄
The books are stored on a micro SD card, which it comes with, along with an SD card reader so you can transfer your epubs to it that way. My son says there's also a way to do it wirelessly, but I CBA with that.
(My son also says the SD card it comes with isn't great, so it may be worth replacing at some point. I'm going to see how long it lasts though...)
I would have liked a blue cover, (sold separately), but they don't do one so I decided I'd have lilac instead. (My son got a dark green one.)
The case holds on magnetically, and it is decently strong. The e-reader also comes with a couple of stick on magnets that you can use to stick it to things. I've stuck the e-reader directly onto the fridge too. 😅
Nintendo Switch for scale. 😉
I really like it. And Amazon can get fucked.
