faksdjf;alj i never got a definitive answer but i’m pretty sure it’s just fanon, but the way that sherlockology has done their advent calendars in the past made me think that something was up with this asdkfjk;sj. like that is a LOT to just inject into sherlock and john as characters for just “fanon”
they basically said 1) yes, john definitely did not see or WANT to see mary for all those months, 2) he moved back to baker street, 3) mary was EXTREMELY bitter about it, 3) john PROBABLY would not have showed up to christmas dinner if he knew mary was going to be there, 4) “ASSUMING WE DON’T KILL EACH OTHER” !!!!!!!!! WTF, 5) sherlock is still very much fucked up about mary SHOOTING him, he mentions it quite a few times, 6) mycroft KNOWS
like. this is SOMETHING and it was weird because sherlockology doesn’t usually project like this, this was all very tjlc of them

i think what i’m seeing is distancing and detachment as a knee-jerk defense mechanism? which i get obviously since i’m that in real life about fucking everything tbh
