London had her appointment with the specialist yesterday...
Turns out she has a bone spur in her hock that our local vet COMPLETELY MISSED on her initial x-rays.
So for the last 30 days the local vet has been treating her stifles because they said her hocks x-rayed clean, only to take her to the sports medicine specialist and find out otherwise.
I cannot even begin to explain how pissed I am at our vet and even at myself for not demanding a second opinion sooner. You’re supposed to be able to trust what your vet says; I understand that even professionals are only human and do make mistakes, but missing a something that was glaringly obvious to a more seasoned specialist??
Hopefully now after treatment we can leave all of this bullshit behind us as a lesson learned. Also let me just take a second to say this again - IF YOU’VE EVER THOUGHT ABOUT INSURING YOUR HORSES, DO IT NOW. I paid $700 for a 12 month policy on my horse, and that policy has now saved me upwards of $5000 worth of treatment. INSURANCE IS AMAZING.
London leaves Monday morning for Illinois
to see the Sports Medicine specialist there.
Praying to whatever god that we can finally get some answers. I’m so sick of treating symptoms.
