Wen Xu/ Wen Zhuliu Happy Ending? Plz ;-;
This is the closest to a happy ending I could manage, so I apologize. The first part is something I actually wrote on twitter months ago, I just thought it fit nicely for the personal dynamic I wanted.
__________
"I don't know why you put up with my blockhead of a brother."
"I was given orders to be his guard," the other man replied simply, his expression not changing in the slightest.
Well.
That wouldn't do at all.
He stole the teacup out of Wen Zhuliu's hand and set it out of his reach, then slid his fingertips under the other man's chin. "And what if I decided to steal you, hm? Would you actually fight me to return to his side?"
That only earned him the barest twitch of an eyebrow, but even that tiny affect was a win in his book. "If your father so demands."
He couldn't resist pushing just a little harder. "At least with me, you wouldn't be the third-ranked woman," he said with a smirk.
Wen Zhuliu actually pressed his lips, possibly the closest to an outright annoyed look he'd ever seen the man give, then stood and leaned over to snatch his teacup back.
Wen Xu laughed as he tossed back the last of his wine, then got up to go. "See you again soon, Liu-er."
---
"You're still stuck trailing that idiot? One of these days, you'll tell me exactly what the hell Fuqin did that was worth two whole lifetimes of following bad orders."
"Aren't you supposed to be on Europa right now?" Wen Zhuliu asked, shooting him a side glare.
Wen Xu just grinned back, distinctly amused by the infinitesimally wider range of expressions the other man had developed in this new life.
"Finished the assignment three days ago," he said as he leaned on the desk with a casual air that was distinctly intended to be annoying. "If you paid attention to other things besides cleaning up after my brother's bad behavior, you would have known that."
"I have the time for little else."
Wen Xu blinked at him, then stared, only barely managing to keep his mouth from dropping open. "Did... did you just make a joke?"
"No."
"You absolutely did!"
"You must have misheard," Wen Zhuliu replied with his same deadpan voice as always, but Wen Xu was sure- he was sure he saw the faintest shadow of a smirk.
Oh. Shit.
He'd always found the man a measure of attractive and he'd never been one to hide it, but this newly added undertone of subtly sarcastic bitch was... wow, that wasn't fair.
Well, then. It seemed he would have to up his own game to make up for this shift of dynamic.
It was going to be fun.
