┃ ┄ ┅ Kouen used to try and do everything to get approval and praise from his older cousins, Hakuren and Hakuyuu. He’d take up the same interests as them, and even if he got it wrong he’d keep at it like the stubborn prince he is. He just wanted to impress them.
One day Hakuyuu realized that Kouen was unhappy trying so hard to do things that he had no interest in, and so he took him into the palace gardens and gave him a stern talking to. Kouen still remembers Hakuyuu’s exact facial expression, his sitting position, his words. Everything about that scene, because it was the first time that Hakuyuu told him he was proud of him for who he was rather than who he was trying to be, and that he and Hakuren wanted him to be happy and would support him in whatever he did. That day was the happiest Kouen has ever been, and even to this day he’ll dream about that scene. ─ ━ ♚ │

┃ ┄ ┅ Kouen gets full easily. He doesn’t have to eat very much in a day to feel satisfied, and so he’ll have maybe one big meal just in the morning and then small portions for the rest of the day. ─ ━ ♚ │

┃ ┄ ┅ Physically, Kouen is fine, though that’s where stress really hits. He doesn’t treat his body very well (doesn’t sleep very much, doesn’t eat very much, stays up for days in a row, keeps working when he’s sick, etc.), and so randomly he’ll just collapse from sheer exhaustion.
Mentally, Kouen is fine, although he has obsessive compulsive traits. He feels the need to make things level or organize them in a “proper” manner, otherwise he becomes very anxious and begins to clench and unclench his fingers, then as his stress progresses he grits his teeth. However he doesn’t like to talk about this with others (he feels ashamed that he has these strange intrusive thoughts) and so he simply acts like it’s nothing if others take notice. ─ ━ ♚ │
