location: the o’riley family home
As the days started to become colder, Cian had found himself spending more time at his family home. It was more of a trust issue as he didn’t trust anyone else to clean up the home whether if it was a cleaning service or a yard service. Maybe it was because he knew how the people of New York could be and if word of an abandoned home got out into the public, he knew there would easily be one or two punks trying to steal whatever they could.
So, he did the work himself. It kept him busy for the most part which was better for both him and his wife. She could handle so many renovations at their house and from the snapping, the limit was getting closed to being reached. The only good part about the colder days is that everything he needed to keep trimmed and looking nice was starting to die. It gave him less work to do outside which his cold fingers always enjoyed.
Once inside, Cian decided to put up some of the Christmas decorations they had stored in one of the larger utility closets. He was shuffling around boxes when he very faintly heard the creak of the floors. It caused him to immediately stop moving and shift his weight to be closer to the doorframe in order to hear if the creaking continued or if it was just the house being old.
Sadly (though not really for his own enjoyment), the creaking continued and Cain shifted to be on his toes as he walked out of the closet, a hand grabbing the gun he kept holstered on his side. Normally he wouldn’t carry so out in the open, but he wasn’t going to chance it while he was alone.
In the kitchen he saw what was making the noise and in true Cian fashion he shot the gun before asking any questions. The bullet aimed for the trespasser’s shoulder caused the man to buckle to have his knees on the ground. Cian didn’t stop as he ran to them, the gun pressed to their head. “Give me one reason I shouldn’t finish the job, you fucking idiot.” He knew exactly who it was the moment he ran over. Maybe even before then when he took the shot, but he wasn’t going to let it be known.
