💔 74 (fuck me up sarah)
My muse kills yours.
In the Name of Mercy;
Tuah’s words from several months ago echoed in Maya’s head. “Please Maya. Grant an old man his last wish.”
Now, she stood in a long abandoned Vinegar Tom warehouse with a peacefully meditating Tuah. They were running out of time before he became a husk of himself as all old vampires did. Through the broken roof, she could see the stars and the moon. She wondered, as she so often had, if there really is someone up there playing a fucked up cosmic joke on her. She swallowed and focused on the man in front of her. Her friend and business partner, who had asked her to kill him.
No, he hadn’t asked. He had begged her.
“What the fuck?” she’d asked, “Why me?”
“Do you really think Ruby could do it? Or Fane? Or Iann?”
“That’s not a compliment. Is that supposed to be a compliment?”
“Please Maya. I won’t be me anymore. I’ll be a mindless killing machine. I’ll be as good as dead. Please Maya. Grant an old man his last wish.”
“Fuck,” was all Maya had said at first. Eventually, after many more protestations and quiet explanations from Tuah about how this was the only way, she had agreed. After all it was kind of his dying wish. She had made him promise to leave her money for the therapy she was absolutely going to need after this.
Back in the warehouse, Maya still hesitated. She had never thought it was going to be easy. Above them, the sky was starting to lighten. Dawn was coming. Maya took her first step towards Tuah, axe in hand.
Tuah’s eyes snapped open. All she could see in them was hunger. They had waited too long. “Oh fuck,” Maya whispered. Now, she was trapped in a warehouse with a hunger crazed vampire. She understood though with perfect clarity what Tuah had meant that he wouldn’t be himself anymore. “Tuah,” she pleaded as he pulled himself to his feet. “Tuah tell me you’re still in there somewhere.” He smiled at her, the sharp points of his fangs glittering in the moonlight as he stalked towards her.
The lights were on, but Tuah was no longer home.
A flip switched in Maya as she realized this. She went into survival mode. Once he was close enough, she swung the axe. The thing that was no longer Tuah dodged the first swing. But with his attention laser focused on the juicy vein in her neck, he wasn’t quite quick enough to dodge her backhanded swing. She managed to knock him off balance. She took the opening, she had to, and decapitated him.
Blood spurted everywhere. It was warm, wet and almost made her vomit. It would’ve made her vomit if she’d been able to eat anything in the last twenty four hours. Maya dropped the axe. Her whole body trembled. She had failed him. Instead of killing Tuah before that thing, she’d waited too long. It was only a minute or two, but still with all the guilt she felt about the whole awful affair she knew that she had failed him. “I’m sorry, Tuah,” she whispered.
