luke’s breath catches, subtle, but there, when her fingers hook the chain around his neck. the aged silver is scuffed and half tarnished, but it’s his. it's been his since before all the blood and bad choices, but the way she's holding it make it feel heavier than usual.

there was a groan from the bull-rider, but it had nothing to do with the stitches and everything to do with the growing pain in his boxers from kissing her. his hands gripping real tight where he has her by her waist, pulling away enough to mutter back. "i'm not too worried." of course he's not ... because when has rhett ever been concerned with his own well-being? his mouth crashes back down against hers, rocking his hips against hers. the bar is dead this time of night. not empty, just . . . hallow. dregs of beer sit in glasses that haven't been collected, littering tables that had long since been vacated. victor finds himself here often, brows furrowed as thoughts swim. green eyes stare at hands that won't age, and though his chest rises and falls from habit, there's no breath for his lungs to give.

he knows it's her before she even speaks. perfume that reminds him of spring and blood that make his fangs ache. she'd run a mile if she knew, so victor is sure to keep her at arms length, even if it doesn't stop her from trying to inch closer. ❝ last i checked, personal space wasn't shared. ❞ he murmurs, bringing his glass to his lips and taking a slow, steady gulp. he lets the beer wash away the dryness of his throat, but it returns a mere moment later. ❝ you got something to say, you need to let it out, honey. ❞
