starter call!
hi ! i was trying to avoid doing this but i will be low activity until after the new year. between my job and holidays and family and the overall maintenance of my home i’m finding myself stretched thin and i don’t have the bandwidth to fully commit. if you have to break mutuals because of this i get it! regardless, thank you all for bearing with me and understanding!
good morning. need the dash to know buck + @halztead adopted a retired police dog. furthermore, when they move to LA, jay is gonna surprise buck with a golden retriever puppy so they now have dogs that represent them both.
oh. + they have a black cat that buck named johnny cash because he’s the man in black. when he’s in trouble he gets called johnathan cash.
Oliver Stark as Evan “Buck” Buckley 9-1-1, S09E05 - Día de los Muertos
↳ !! IMPORTANT MARVEL FRANCHISE INFORMATION: this verse contains a group called the avengers rescue division. this division is something of my own creation + cannot be found in any wiki, comic, or movie. they were established after the sokovia accords as a direct result of the countless civilian casualties + are described on paper as a specialized emergency + humanitarian branch of the avengers. members consist of S.H.I.E.L.D., first responders, + military - this branch is responsible for search, rescue, evacuation, + disaster response during or after superhuman incidents.
[ ❇ ] buck's life prior to recruitment was as it is in canon 911. he ends up in los angeles at the same time + becomes a firefighter all the same. life only changes for him after a chitauri fragment explosion that leveled blocks as far as the eye could see. he gained further online recognition after videos of him running into fires to save trapped civilians beneath alien wreckage surfaced.
in true buck fashion, this almost cost him his life ( death by extreme heat exposure ). also in true buck fashion because this man can't do anything low-key ! his near death experience + his viral moment garnered the attention of nick fury who ordered tests be run on the man who willingly put himself in the middle of a minefield + survived. analysis of his blood showed elevated levels tesseract energy that bonded with his body’s bioelectric field + gave him limited energy absorption.
[ ❇ ] this energy absorption means he can soak up heat, power, or a small vibration force + redirect it as an energetic pulse or burst of strength. this, however, is incredibly painful for him, it's unstable, + can be dangerous to him as a person if he's under extreme emotional stress.
NICK FURY HAS COMPARED HIM TO A LIVE GRENADE THAT THINKS IT'S A MEDIC.
his abilities include:
energy absorption + redirection: buck can absorb heat, impact, or explosive energy + release it as a shockwave. he can also channel it into superhuman bursts of strength or speed.
immunity to fire: his cells can withstand extreme heat, letting him walk through burning structures unscathed.
first responder expertise: he has advanced triage, extraction, tactical rescue, + crisis management training that he carried over from his time with the 118.
ya’ll ever just follow people and never interact but you can’t not follow them everywhere they go because your dash feels empty without them or?
buck was a himbo but like. the sweetest, kindest, softest, most gentle, most respectful himbo to exist.
i love you
i don't know. people that love other people don't laugh when their life is minorly inconvenienced by the power company coming to replace the power box + shutting down their power for 30 seconds ( i love you, baby ).
buck always uses filler words when he's speaking. things like uh or quick repetition of words like i - i thought. his mouth often runs faster than his thoughts do + filler words come into play when he's trying to grasp at the word he's looking for.
the only time he doesn't do this is when he's talking about anything that has to do with his job.
@halztead said ❛ tell me you're mine. ❜
life was fleeting + hospital rooms were endless. the constant barrage of bodies roaming in + out of a room so haunted kept him awake + hollow. questions fell on deaf ears most of the time + when he got any rendition of an answer it was always some colorful variation of IT ALL DEPENDED ON JAY. always hopeful will would carry a more promising answer, he'd pester until it ended the same + frustration divided the room. it went on for eons, becoming more + more volatile the longer he deprived himself of sleep, of a shower that didn't come from the doctor's lounge in the er, of a meal that didn't taste like cardboard ... of him. god wasn't a construct he believed in but he was damn close to praying for a miracle. for better odds that weren't determined solely on whether or not his boyfriend was stubborn enough to wake up. he almost began to understand why people put their faith in something unproven ... why it was easier for them to do so. leaving things up to god was a lot less terrifying than leaving things up to jay.
thought hovered for hours, bringing him as far as hospital chapel door before raised hand collapsed to side. even if he wanted to, he didn't know how + he felt foolish. so he didn't. he dragged heavy feet against linoleum floor until he ended where he left with the sounds of machinery beeping in the background like white noise. + there he remained for a period of time he'd long lost track of ── faces blurred until they became unrecognizable from one another. intelligence started to look like hospital staff ... hospital staff started to look like intelligence. calls went unanswered until a welfare check from platt became necessary. it went on forever. the constant rotation of misplaced concern + non-answers cornered him until it drove him insane + eventually broke him. exhaustion crippled before it pulled him under in an uncomfortable, tiny ICU chair.
THAT WAS DAYS AGO. today, however, he bore a different weight. one that didn't depend so much on jay as it did him + his damn near inability to say no. pleads of GET ME OUT OF HERE crowded the once empty space left for others to attempt to fill, drowning out the rhythmic beat of the EKG machine until it became non-existent. jay wanted to go home. he wanted him home ... in los angeles for the duration of his recovery ( a conversation for later. noted ). the hiccup was his non-existent discharge + his insistence that buck could somehow jail break him from med without anyone noticing. or his belief that he actually would despite the knowledge that he was dating the literal personification of webmd. conversation quickly rolled into something new only to be pulled back to the prospect of leaving before it could stray too far. his TELL ME YOU'RE MINE only told buck they were running to round the corner into get me out of here for the umpteenth time that day. + that he'd, sooner over later, once again be back to entertaining the thought.
❛ mmm, ❜ he hummed through half concealed smirk. sweatshirt covered arms crossed against the plastic bed railing, making a makeshift pillow for him to rest his chin on. ❛ i'm all yours, baby. ❜ but that wasn't enough for what was coming next. meager grin turned full blown smile burned his cheeks, filling once dying eyes with life. but ... ❛ but you're not leaving until the discharge papers come in. ❜
husband 😌
❛ husband. you know what that means ? means we're in a legally binding contract that says you have to love me for the rest of your life or else. + the or else sounds pretty serious so ... ❜

alvin olinsky ... ▇▇▇ it was alvin's case. it still was. that didn't have an expiration date. and he has tried arson, more than once. and each time they either tell him: 'someone will take a look' then no reply, and now they don't bother answering his emails about the case. he couldn't let it go - he wasn't going to. buck wasn't the last shot, but he was the best one. and that was why he was here. he doesn't need anyone to tell him it's a lost cause, which is why his team doesn't know. they wouldn't speak it, none of those words or anyone akin to them would be aired. but he'd see the looks, the 'oh alvin' looks. like he was an old and sentimental man. maybe he was, maybe he was losing touch. maybe he had been since he started. the garage he shares with trudy at their new house is full of old case files - so many that their car is parked on the street.
rubbing his hand over his beard, a thoughtful motion. he considers another non-answer. but buckley deserved better than that. he was standing there, not saying no. no dismissal yet, to the manilla file that was turning into a yellowish color, barely holding itself together - the coffee stain didn't help. it had seen many sleepless nights, but not as many as al had. and not as many as the grieving mother who was still waiting for answers has either. " yes. it is my case. i need to find that mother some answers, she can't die like this. she.. if it was one of my girls, i wouldn't stop. and i wouldn't want the cop assigned to my case to stop either. not for anything in the world. please just look. if it's too much, i'll try someone else. but i believe in you. that's why i'm here, not at boden's or anyone else. "
was that really why he was there ? because he believed in him ? or was it because he knew not knowing would drive him just as mad ( if not more ) as it did him ? lack of closure, answers within fingers reach yet somehow unattainable all the same ── certain things weren't meant to be solved + that was all there was to it. being chalked up to one of life's greatest mysteries might've been a good enough conclusion to lull some of the sharpest minds to sleep, but he never subscribed to the rhetoric. everything could be solved. + even if it couldn't where would al go ? the faint undertones of an esoteric third party he'd stuffed up his sleeve like a magic trick wove itself between pleads which only made it harder to believe. but he wouldn't pull on that thread just yet, no. instead he found himself flipping open the folder once more, soft alright leaving him as he settled against bar top.
carnage left behind the wake of a fire was always as unforgiving as it was gut wrenching. immune he was not. even in his professionalism he found himself unconsciously reinforcing the walls that kept the weight away, but it felt different there. turnout coat was off + he was surrounded by the warmth of a safety he built. of a sanctuary he knew. his guard was down + a heaviness built in the depths of his chest, making his lungs feel too small for his body before they expanded just enough to make way for breath. ❛ i don't know anything about murder, but i do know arson. ❜ + it read like a book every time. carefully selected pictures pulled from the file gently settled against bar top in what looked like a haphazard display of pure nonsense to the untrained eye. to him ? it was a story. one he was itching to tell.
❛ natural or accidental fires almost always have a single point of origin. but ... ❜ pause to pull the photo from a secondary bedroom to the top of the pile, ❛ this is a non-connected area with a secondary point of origin here. ❜ fingers tap bottom left corner, a section of flooring that burned through before the ceiling did. significant, unusual heat intensity was a signifier of an accelerant +, while it did sometimes happen naturally, it didn't happen the way the pictures told. the way the report told. ❛ + the mom was ruled out ? ❜
if you see me on my laptop ... yes you did.
what’s the point in writing if you aren’t here half time
hope this helps !!
