opinions on the acofas cover?
in a word: sigh. I mean it’s FAR better than any of the first three, what with the silver filigree on the borders. but faerug’s dress is still way too modern, even for the pseudo medieval world sj/m so badly wants, the four stars are weirdly placed and oddly arranged, and it’s kinda strange you can see the tattoos through the sleeve. I mean I’m sure that’s bc the dress is sheer in the book, but on a cover it looks more like a mistake the art designers forgot to address. the color of the font is meh (silver and gold? really?), as is the pose faerug is standing in (is her hand supposed to be touching the filigree, like she’s running her fingers through it? or is she doing a “to be or not to be” kinda pose?) I also find it hilarious that Bloomsbury and sj/m both so clearly want these books to be high fantasy worth taking note of, but these covers just highlight the fake, pointless plot in favor of porn. like I’m no bookcoversalt but I’m reasonably conscious of what constitutes a good vs bad cover, and while this is better, it’s still bad. (imma reblog this after I post with the cover)
