daisy, what are your relationship tips? bc im trying but my SO is too cute and i am too awkward
Alright kiddo I’m back from rushing the quad (More on that later, the week leading up to school spirit happens to be our spirit week, hence the weird video) and I’m gonna tell you alllll the many relationship secrets that K and I use all the time. He’s out of town so I can’t get his input, but I promise it’s what we do.It’s all very simple:use. your. words.
I’ve told myself this on countless occasions. Kaleb is really good at communicating about relationshippy things, I’m not really. That’s part of the reason we broke up for a bit (it was totally necessary and Im glad it happened please dont get mad at him) But now that I’ve promised myself to communicate more, things could not be better.Remember that your SO has chosen to be with you. There isn’t an ulterior motive here. Their goal and your goal is each other’s happiness. But how can you know how to make them happy if they don’t tell you when they are upset? It all boils down to communication.
You need to have that foundation and trust to look at your SO and say hey Im not getting what i’d need/like atm and then offer solutionsss
For example, you can’t be afraid to say “Hey I’m feeling anxious today so please don’t touch me” or “I’ve been feeling ignored recently, can we spend some time together” or “This thing you do is kinda upsetting me, can you stop?”
You’re terrified that the person will say “well if that bothers you then we can’t be in a relationship anymore” but then you can compromise together from there. there are literally NO reasons you can’t communicate your feelings openly and honestly in a healthy relationship. There are so many times I’ll be like “hey babe I’ve got a metric tonne of homework and it’s really stressing me out can we watch something together when Im done” or he’ll be like “I’m feeling p anxious today so if I seem weird that’s what’s up” and it’s great. Things are....so good.
