I do think they're true, and if not,, well, given how high effort it seems, I'm willing to believe it :p
I... actually don't like the ending .
I wasn't invested in trans-woman Jax,, but then they really implied it, but also never actually said it. It pisses me off, especially with the merch, it feels like a Disney / money-first thing,, Like,, they'll make it trans enough, that the poor desperate minorities with nothing, with cling to it, but also don't actually confirm/state it, so the anti-trans bigots don't have to bothered 🙄 Like OKay,, so you can sell a bunch of joking merch of Jax (as a man) in a maid dress, but you can't actually make her queer? Can't actually make it real? Like this is just... kind of worse, because if this thing is just hinted, and Jax keeps saying he hates it, then... the joke is... man in dress. man is forced to be feminine and hates it.. wow. that's so funny and original. /sarcastic
Everything else was fine,, like animation is great as always,, just.. that one point really bugs me, especially considering they basically made it the whole episode... The fact they use more wishy washy flowery language 'where people who don't have anywhere else to go can go' or whatever the fuck, instead of justing saying. queer. it's a bar for queer people. because anti-queerism exists. Like yes, technically they used the word queer in the newspaper, in tiny text, thats quickly flashes by, one which you'd never be able to read in a theatre... easy to miss, easy to edit out, just saying,, kind of weak. It just.. reminds me of some 3 second gay scene a movie can add for the queers^tm and edit out for the anti-queer regions. like cool. /sarcastic. I don't like the both sides shit.
No movie should ever be watched for representation, to see yourself, to see anything good... I wasn't looking for it, and even I got crushed... But even if Jax was made a trans woman, well, she's still a shitty person, so truly... trans-fem Jax headcanons were doomed to have something wrong with them, you either get problematic rep or no rep. (And yes, being problematic is cool, but like... when it's people who are always portrayed as being inherently evil, it starts looking less cool.)
