You seem to like rare pairs, which I can definitely get behind. (The Enno/Yui and The Value of X are aaaaamazing! You are such a beautiful writer!) Have you ever considered Yahaba and Yachi? I still think about how he thought she was so cute that he tried to bounce a volleyball towards her to get her attention. What would happen next time he saw her?
Honestly, I’m a shameless multishipper. You can get me to ship almost anything as long as it isn’t incest or a relationship where one’s underage and the other an adult… (Thank you so much for the compliment! I’ll keep trying my best with each rarepair that somehow makes its way into my head.)
Ooooooh, Yahaba and Yachi! Hadn’t thought about it. Okay, let’s see. I think Yahaba could probably intimidate Yachi a bit, because we’ve already seen that he can be aggressive and it’s implied he has a temper (there’s this post about Yahaba that explains things better than I could), and he’d try so hard to be the nicest guy around her, but he can still sometimes make mean comments or talk about people in ways she might not like, but he’s also absolutely smitten with her, like ‘How can you be this cute’ and he tries to compliment her and Yachi thinks she’s going to faint from embarrassment.
Anyway, you asked about next time he saw her. We have two possibilities:
During a match: boy’s seriously worried about Tanaka, so first he looks everywhere to make sure Tanaka isn’t around and then tries something as ridiculous as bouncing a volleyball towards her, maybe rolling his water bottle in her direction or something (something he can’t get easily owned at). Not subtle at all. Fellow Seijou players are so embarrassed, we’re so sorry for our captain, please ignore him. But Yachi doesn’t notice that it’s all a shameless attempt to talk to her, and she talks to him and she’s her usual adorable self (but a bit on guard, because ‘Rival team member is talking to me, what if he’s trying to discover our weaknesses?? I won’t let him!’) and Yahaba’s doomed, oh, God, she isn’t just physically cute she’s completely cute, send help, get me her number. He doesn’t get her number because Karasuno has realized that there’s someone after their manager and the Yachi Protection Squad (basically the entire team) intervenes, but at least she remembers him next time she sees him and it’s easier to start a conversation.
Some point after the current tournament, but definitely not during a match: maybe they run into each other at the supermarket? Or while buying school supplies, or at the park, I don’t know. Anyway, since here he doesn’t have to worry about scary crow boys blocking him, he tries being all smooth and nonchalant and “Hey, you’re Karasuno’s manager, I remember you” and things go way better than in the first case, because he’s not on guard and there isn’t really a time limit, but since he’s this guy she doesn’t remember that well, first he has to put her at ease that he isn’t part of a gang and/or trying to sell her drugs. That makes the conversation a lot longer, but finally she relaxes, but she absolutely refuses to talk about volleyball because she really thinks this might be an overly complicated attempt at spying on Karasuno and he’s like ‘No, I just think you’re cute’ and then a long pause because he wasn’t supposed to say that. So things don’t go anywhere there either, and next time he sees her he tries to talk to her again and she’s really nervous and he tries to woo her with compliments and in the end just asks her to hang out, no commitment attached, don’t worry.
First not date is awkward, but he makes her laugh at some point and things go well from there.
Edit: crap, I clicked the wrong button this was supposed to be a private reply orz
