Shipping Headcannons (Yaku x Akaashi)

further notes: just a few headcannons, because I wanted to get to know the ship better myself and see what I'd think of them, so that I can maybe write them soon
I really wanted to try adding gifs to my posts but I guess this is rare-pair-hell and Yaku and Akaashi literally never shared a frame?!
Yaku doesn't strive me as shy, but I think he'd need some time to realize his feelings; when he realized them he'd quickly go through multiple stages of surprise, panic, nervouseness, lovesickness and confidence; in the end he would make the decision to confess rather quickly as soon as he was sure of his feelings
I don't think Akaashi is as confident/forward as Yaku, not in romantic matters; it's probably something he'd appreciate Yaku for; he'd think Yaku looks so cool with his confidence in his skills and being able to fully stand up for himself and take no shit from nobody
Akaashi would watch Yaku for a while, before Yaku even catches a hint of his own feelings; Yaku wouldn't really notice Akaashi watching him, but I'm sure KuroKen would notice, maybe Konoha and Komi, too
I don't think Akaashi would confine in anybody about his feelings and I'm not sure if Bokuto would actually notice or, if he notices, would make the connection that Akaashi is developing romantic feelings for Yaku, instead of just thinking he's cool, which is obvious, so no big deal
so Akaashi would hear little snarky comments from the others, Kuroo would also make comments towards Yaku, but not explicit enough to make him realize Akaashi's feelings, he just wants to laugh a little
Akaashi wouldn't think about confessing, because he can't imagine Yaku liking him back; he strikes me as rather insecure in that regard
so when Yaku confesses, Akaashi is sincerely shocked, even though he could have known, because of Kuroo's comments and Kenma's smirk
After a training match between Nekoma and Fukurodani or maybe at a training camp, Yaku would ask Akaashi to talk to him in private, cue Akaashi feeling like he's about to die: sweaty hands, feeling hot, racing heart
I'm pretty sure most of the others would eavesdrop! There's no chance they would miss this! They would make sure to remain hidden and not disrupt the situation, though, they might be curious troublemakers but still great friends, who want only the best for their friends
Yaku would be rather straight forward in confessing just like he thinks people should be straight forward with criticism; he'd say how his appreciation of Akaashi had slowly changed over the time from friendly-rivals to friends to something more, that his feelings had developed into something romantic and he'd be glad (maybe even honored) if Akaashi would go on a date with him
Akaashi would be stunned, for a second he's sure he fainted on the way behind the gym and has a very vivid fever dream; he needs a while to fully understand what was said to him and that's the moment Yaku gets nervous
Yaku actually needs to ask Akaashi again what he thinks or if he needs more time, to get an answer from him, which makes Akaashi super emberrassed, because how rude is it to not say anything when someone just confessed their earnest feelings? Especially if it's actually your crush who confessed!
he will accept in the end obviously and will wear a mysteriously content smile for the rest of the day
After that and their first date I think Akaashi would be more confident about the situation and will sublimely overlook the teasing of the others
now that they're actually dating I still see them as more private; they surely would talk to their friends about their relationship and will also boast about their respective boyfriend from time to time, but would rather not go into too much detail, especially because Bokuto and Kuroo can be sooo nosy
first kiss: spur of the moment, maybe initiated by Akaashi in rather mundane moment, maybe they're out on a date and Yaku gives Akaashi his scarf, or they're just hanging out, listening to music or watching a movie and just something about the spark in Yaku's eyes, the curves of his lips and the warmth he generates, makes Akaashi lovestruck and spontaneous; Yaku would be shocked, but pleased and wouldn't want to let go for a while; Akaashi might be shy afterwards, which would make Yaku rather proud
later, as adults, when Akaashi is doing his studies and/or starts his job at the publisher Yaku will be a big source of safety and love if things are getting stressfull and busy
I guess if they were in a relationship/in love Yaku wouldn't keep staying in Russia for too long? I don't really see Akaashi following him, rather Yaku coming back and then moving in together with Akaashi
