Friday #lunch hour has me craving a fresh fish dish from HonSushi in Carrollton. This “Oh! Baby” roll is rice-less, stuffed with #crabmeat, #yamagobo, #seaweed salad, and subtle avocado then wrapped in generous servings of melt-in-your-mouth tender red #tuna! The #mango salsa on top adds a slightly citrusy and refreshing flavor, nicely complementing the black & orange fish eggs. - SL (at HonSushi)
Yellow Submarine Roll (Pictured in Front)
The sushi pieces that had no ikura (salmon roe) and quail egg tasted like an avocado roll with a slight crunch due to the yamagobo (pickled burdock, looks like a carrot) - not exactly the most exciting thing to eat. The ones with ikura and quail egg were oddly watery, likely due to the quail egg. It gave the roll's "Submarine" part of its name some clarity as it tasted like this roll was in the ocean, but it's not very satisfactory.
Verdict: It's okay, but if you like quail egg on your ikura, this might spice things up for you!
BLT Roll (Pictured behind Yellow Submarine Roll)
It tastes almost exactly like a salmon skin roll, just with added heat. I was expecting a bit more? But when I start to think about how a BLT sandwich tastes, it's fairly spot on in that respect.
Verdict: If you like Salmon Skin Rolls, go for it, but otherwise nothing new here.
