Pinnacles and Shrines || Celebrity!AU Heather&Yancy
Oh my dreams,
Come back to me, back to me
Somehow, they'd managed to keep their past away from the press. And it had to be some sort of miracle. Two female celebrities that tabloids seemed to dub as rivals being former roommates? It would cause quite the fuss that Heather would rather do without.
And somehow, they rarely managed to run into each other, and when they did the interaction was brief and shallow, ultimately meaningless. Heather had been without Yancy in her life for a few years now and she still hadn't quite adjusted to it. No one cooked quite like her or managed to separate their personal and public lives quite so well.
The paparazzi seemed to leave her alone enough unless she was caught talking to Heather, and reporters never bugged into her personal life aside from trying to get her to say Heather was her rival or something. Yancy was too sweet for it though, always declining to answer questions.
They'd made a pact before moving out to not use each other's fame. Since both were pursuing a highly public career, the temptation would be there, an easy jumpstart to the career, really. But they wanted to prove it to themselves that they could do this unassisted. And it had worked, but unfortunately, the press had taken their lack of commentary on each other as them being some sort of enemies or rivals.
Eventually, Heather had had enough of it. She was asked in one too many interviews how she felt she was compared to Nancy and decided to make ammends. They were on the same level, it wouldn't be piggybacking to allow the press to realize they didn't hate each other.
Of course, decisions made at two a.m. aren't always the soundest, but Heather wasn't thinking about that when she invited Yancy to lunch over text.
She picked somewhere public enough the paprazzi could spot them, but private enough that they wouldn't be disturbed. This lunch was going to be some fusion of catching up with her old roommate and manipulation the media.
And on the day at the time she'd sent Yancy, Heather sat down at the table, hoping Yancy would show because she really didn't need 'Pop Star Stood up at Cafe' popping up in tomorrow's news.
