He finally moves, blinking as his tears fall drastically.
"What?! Bonding with you is bonding with me! Why do we need to be apart?!" he eventually stutters and wails, his legs straight up collapsing under his weight. "Don't go! I will do anything!! ANYTHING!!!!"
You sigh, scratching your head. "Sweetheart, that's exactly what I'm saying. You don't have to do anything."
By the time you finish your sentence, he's already clinging to your leg, his whole body wrapped around it.
"Okay," he sniffs, rubbing his tears on your outfit. "I'll respect that, honey... Anything for you. For how long? One minute?"
"...One week, Bartolomeo," you say with a purse of your lips, and he screams out of fear again, hugging you tighter.
You can't even remember the last time you've been apart for this long. Most likely, it was before your official relationship stage.
There is nothing bad about it exactly, but if you consider the fact that he has a massive shrine of you, that's when you start second guessing. Said shrine contains strands of your body hair, your sweat, uncountable amount of photographs of you doing whatever, some of your missing clothes, and only Bartolomeo knows about the rest. To an extent, you do find it cute and predictable because that's him, but you have to be realistic about this.
You kneel, and he follows you, leveling with your eyes. "I think this will be good for both of us. You don't have to worry about me."
"But I like worrying about you," he whimpers, his eyes big and begging. "I need to worry about you. What if something happens and I'm not there? Do you have to leave? Take me with you. You can just pretend I'm not there. I'll be quiet—"
You cup his cheeks and shake your head. His face is reddened, wet puffy eyes and the biggest frown you've ever seen him wear. "None of that now. And I can handle myself! You know that!" He flinches and apologizes quickly. "Look, we can take this chance to see how our individual lives are going. Let's talk more about this later."
Giving one last reassuring smile, you stand up and step away from him.
Only for you to step into a wall.
You quickly realize it with a gasp. "Bartolomeo!"
He has never used his barrier against you. Not like this.
Whipping your head around, you catch a glimpse of his expression—something so serious and full of aching, like he had been betrayed.
The face quickly disappears. He looks at you with a pained pout, "SORRY!!! Sorry! But I-I think I'm gonna faint—"

Ok I believe bartholomo is definitely a pillow princess, like yes he’s always fangirling over his darling and was too shy to talk to her at first.
