I haven't had the time to properly catch up in One Punch but I did my research for this! Interesting character :) I'm sorry if something is incorrect, still new to this specific fandom! The idea I was given was rather general so I just got creative with it.

First of all... having a yandere in the One Punch universe is horrifying no matter how you look at it.

The intentions don't matter... even platonic can be pretty bad due to everyone's strength in this universe.

When first looking at Garou he doesn't seem like a platonic yandere at first.

He's known as the 'Hero Hunter' and brutally slaughters anyone he deems a hero.

The fights are always brutal with him.

He aims for lethality, clearly not afraid to leave a battle coated in blood if it makes him the strongest monster.

He's a man that wants to see heroes lose... Many would consider him evil.

HOWEVER... Garou doesn't seem to always be like this.

Despite him being a murderous lone wolf type character... Garou also has a protective side.

This side isn't seen often... but it stems from the fact Garou was bullied as a child.

This protective side is shown in canon through Tareo, a young child Garou sees himself in.

Despite wanting to be the strongest monster... Garou also seems to want to care or rely on someone even with the persona he has.

So essentially this HC is if you somehow befriend Garou similar to Tareo except you're the same age as him.

You've been supportive towards him since childhood... be it out of fear or genuine respect is up to you as things go on.

Maybe you're childhood friends... you offer him some sort of support no one else gave him.

Either way you appeal to his humanity... Which sounds really sweet.

Until you realize what he's willing to do to keep you to himself.

Just... think about it.

Garou's protective to the point he'd see many as a threat to you.

If we consider the idea that he views himself as a monster too... Morals aren't a thing for him usually.

So he's going to be a yandere who not only kills for the love of the game...

But kidnapping is a very real possibility.

He sees you as his, his friend and companion.

Which means you're going to be dragged back to his hideout (the shed) like it or not.

You're a weakness to him... a reflection of the humanity he still has within him.

So he feels he needs to hide you.

His biggest goal is to get stronger... but he finds it more enjoyable when he has someone to talk to.

Plus... you used to support him, yes?

Why not now?

I feel like Garou would hate it if you suddenly looked scared of him.

When he was training you supported him, you wanted him to get stronger.

But as he gets stronger... You look at him with fear.

It starts as concern when you see blood on him... yet that's expected from fights.

Then you hear about the killing... the mass murder... the bloodshed.

Your friend has always said he wanted to be a monster. He wanted to put heroes in their place.

Originally you thought he just meant all the corrupt heroes out there...

But his goals are less admirable than you thought.

Suddenly the friend you once knew is laughing when he finds strong opponents, slaughtering heroes until they're a paste on pavement.

The entire thing scares you.

How could it not? There's no real reason behind the killings except "strength".

But it's not like you'd be able to ignore a man like Garou.

He's stronger than civilians, if you tried to leave his side he would just drag you back.

Garou acts like a feral animal as he gets stronger.

He never becomes like the Garou you once knew.

But soon as Garou evolves... you look at him like you don't recognize him.

It hurts him.

He feels it's right for him to continue his goals of being a monster... he'll be strong enough to protect you...

Yet now you look at him with fear, as though unsure if he is even himself anymore.

He tells you he's never hurt you.

He loves the fear in the eyes of heroes or others.

With you... it's painful.

But he'll show you this is all necessary... Once he's the strongest monster no one will mess with you or him ever again.

You hate being around him... Especially when he starts pushing his limits and becomes more monster than human.

Yet with you... he always attempts to be soft.

He loves it when you patch him up, when you clean the blood from his skin....

Garou hopes the fear leaves your eyes eventually.

But you only seem to see him covered in blood... you see a monster... which if that's what he wants...

Why does it hurt to see you see him as such?

You practically tremble in Garou's arms.

It's understandable... his strength could easily snap you in half.

Yet surprisingly for a monster... Garou remains lucid enough to be gentle.

He's casual with you, just like when you were both younger.

It's weird for you now unfortunately... This is the same man who slaughtered hundreds.

You are one of the only things that represent his humanity.

If anyone felt they could push you around... or even take you from him...

Garou promises to crush them brutally.

There's no point in calling him out on his behaviors... He was planning to be a monster anyways.

So even when you call him a monster... his skin covered in blood... he takes it as a compliment.

Even if it stings a little coming from you.

Garou deep down probably knows you hate him... but he ignores it.

You'll respect him eventually... or at least that's what he tells himself.

He's the only one who can protect you... Even if it means slaughtering countless heroes... or civilians.

Garou is a scary yandere due to his strength and the fact he wants to be a monster.

You're his friend... sure... at least he's on your side.

But is it worth it if he locks you away, if he slaughters everyone you know just to keep you for himself?

He tells you he does it for protection... to care for you...

But you can't rationalize things anymore...

Garou is a selfish possessive monster who can't bear the idea of losing his best friend... even if it means achieving his goal...

And you no doubt helped make him this way.

They'll claw and scratch their sorry carcass out of their prison cell in Hell all the way up to Heaven's doorstep, burn down those pearly gates, hunt you down the same as they did their prey in the living world, and drag you back with them kicking and screaming with them.

You won't be able to leave them ever again. They'll make sure of it this time.

OK, so I was thinking about how Yandere Garou would be, so like, I'm gonna yap about it here. ⚠️WARNING⚠️: YANDERE BEHAVIOR HERE.

(So, like, this is my interpretation of how Yandere Garou would be with my interpretation of the character, if you don't like the way I did it, you are more than welcome to read something else)

S/O = Significant other.

Anyways, here are the headcanons:

He's a stalker, plain and simple, he observes his S/O, I rather say, trying to see what his S/O is like, what are their weaknesses, anything that would help him insert himself into their life at all, just like he would examine his enemies in battle.

He knows he can't exactly just appear out of nowhere and take his S/O with him, heroes are on his tail and that would jeopardize his own plans and his plans with his S/O, so he's smart about it.

About jeopardizing, he won't hurt his S/O if they're human, he will not retaliate if they try pushing him away or hitting him, he can deflet their hits fast, he knows they're too weak and what he would dread the most is hurting them, it would remind him of his bullies and he doesn't want to be a bully :( (hypocrisy at is finest)

(Evidence of this is him trying to not put humans that he cares about on danger, *ahem*, Tareo, also, this example might be reaching but him not wanting to fatality hit Superalloy Darkshine in chapter 129 even though he had him cornered because he had flashbacks of his childhood)

That doesn't mean he wouldn't snap at his S/O, since he sometimes lets his emotions get the better of him, something about screaming and saying some rather hurtful things but nothing physical more than a slight push or gripping really tightly (he will most likely brush it up as tough love)

Now, if his S/O has any superhuman abilities or is a hero, they're low-key effed, see, he would love "sparring" with his loved one (aka, trying to kidnap a being that's probably 10 times stronger than him, but he doesn't care, never back down never give up, I guess) he will use this as an opportunity to show that he's the strongest out of them, of course, he wouldn't mess them up really badly, or he would try to, at least, he knows they can take it.

If he was able to successfully kidnap his S/O, he would try to put it on the guise of "I need a bait so them heroes will come, blah blah blah, yer staying here, yap yap yap..." (in the case of human S/O) or "You would tell 'em where my hideout is, I ain't letting you go..." (In the case of hero/monster/supernatural S/O)

Bro is also a tsundere, so his S/O will be hearing a lot of "It's not like you're special or anything..."

He would mock his S/O when they try to escape or overpowering him. (specially if they're a hero)

It would be hard for him to open up about his feelings, but in the "right" time he would open up (S/O: "Ah, so kidnapping me and isolating me was because you were too insecure of your feelings? Got it...)

He will kill for his S/O. No doubt.

He's really jealous, so his S/O will have to pray that he won't obliterate whoever they interacted with, if he even lets them interact with anyone besides him.

I believe he wouldn't cross any like extreme boundaries (he would still embrace his S/O, hold their hand, be very close, might do any suggestive coments, he's a young adult, so that's kinda expected, and even kiss them without consent, but that's where I think he would stop crossing physical boundaries) since he still has morals, twisted morals at that, they call him the HUMAN Monster for a reason, I also have this headcanon that he's self-conscious about his appearance as result of his bullying (bro is so handsome and still thinks he looks ugly) and with this new feelings he discovered only now and that probably terrify him, he would also have some boundaries on his own, which would disappear if his S/O shows interest in him.

Genos is always watching over you. He used some of Child Genius’s tech to give to Dr. Kuseno to have access to watch you all the time

He’s watches you all the time and you’re unaware of it

whether you find it overwhelming or charming doesn’t matter to him! he’s always going to be be your side

if you didn’t accept him as yours and still tried “seeing” other people. it’s not like you’d get the chance. Nobody wants to upset Demon Cyborg™️

nobody even understands why it’s such a big deal! and that can be more frustrating if you’re resisting him. You have the perfect “boyfriend” what more could you want?

Him constantly being around you. Pressure from the public who doesn’t understand he’s a stalker!

You do slowly accept your fate with him

Even though it was unsettling at first, having food be cooked for you all the time was slowly becoming a perk. How did he get in? it doesn’t matter (he has a copy)

Genos understands human relationships concepts and does his best accordingly. but his little yandere bug just messes with him sometimes

His grips gets a little too tight if somebody else is talking to you too long but he’ll softly let go if you say ouch

again your safety matters, so he never wants to harm you

It’s a good thing you didn’t force him to have to hurt you. It’s a good thing you accepted him early on

💕 For the sake of the plot, let’s just say you have your own apartment. Due to their rivalry, they often pick a different time to ‘visit’ you. Well, Metal Bat is more mannerly than Garou who likes to barge in through your window at an ungodly hour, because at least the black-haired boy actually uses the door.

💕 Regardless, they both go out of their way to avoid each other because they don’t want to fight in front of you. God knows how wrecked your home would be if a battle were to occur. As much as Metal Bat wishes to move you to his apartment, he knows that Garou would have his head for it. Not because he fears the so-called hunter, but because he doesn’t want to expose his little sister to unnecessary violence. And, for once, Garou respects his wish.

💕 Sometimes they accidentally visit at the same time, and it’ll be hell for you. Both of them are petty and will use any chance to one-up each other. Cuddling is usually the perfect moment for them to compete about who could leave more hickeys to you, and they’ll mock each other while they’re at it. It seems all they care about is their ‘accomplishment’ and not about whether you feel uncomfortable with their attention.

💕 Maybe someone out there fantasizes about being sandwiched by two handsome and powerful boys, but you don’t. You’re scared, understandably so. Compared to them, who seem to possess inhuman strength and durability, you’re just a civilian wanting to live her days peacefully. But how could you ever hope to escape when they’re always keeping an eye on you every day? It’s probably the other thing they agree to do aside from civilly ‘sharing’ you; isolating you until you depend on them.

Garou never wanted to hurt you. At least, not intentionally. There were times when he pinched or gripped your limbs a bit too tight whenever you disobeyed him – like refusing to cuddle him after a particularly long and hard day of spreading ‘justice’, for example – but they only left minor bruises in its wake. The furthest thing he’d done was a slap across your cheeks, and even so, it was rare and far in between. He knew just how vulnerable you were, how defenseless you were against the real monster which was him. You were merely a civilian before he abducted you, after all. What chance did you have to oppose him in a fistfight? How high was the percentage of you coming out unscathed? He might’ve never killed a human before, but it didn’t mean he couldn’t.

You knew, and that’s why you didn’t complain about his fragile approach towards you. It was better this way, you reasoned with yourself, instead of being maimed like those poor heroes. There was a mild resentment that came from being treated like porcelain, however, it never bothered you much.

But, of course, being isolated was an entirely different matter. Garou might have the best interest in mind – the world was a dangerous place, after all, what’s with all the monsters lurking in every corner – but it still couldn’t justify his hasty action at all. Hasty, in your opinion. You didn’t know the length and time he’d taken to ensure that the transition happened smoothly. You didn’t know the painstaking efforts he’d exerted just to memorize your entire schedule. You didn’t know the extent of his tolerance when he saw other men touching or flirting with you, or the gruesome killings that he’d committed to the monsters who dared to lay a hand on your unsuspecting self.

You were unbearably naïve, prancing from one place to another despite knowing the dangers that merged with your shadow. That’s why he had to protect you, but you failed to appreciate it. Not a single thank you was uttered; all you seemed to do was crying and sulking in his presence. Sometimes, you even gave him a cold shoulder to the point where Garou ‘abandoned’ you for a few days just to make you taste your own medicine. There wasn’t a trace of silly grins and jubilant smiles that used to grace your radiant face – the positive expressions that amazed yet confounded him. How could someone look so happy when meeting a monster like him? How could you retain your optimism in this otherwise bleak world?

All Garou truly desired was love and acceptance. Time and time again, he’d been rejected by people close to him just because he happened to favor villains above heroes. Time and time again, people jeered and criticized his unconventional preference. And yet, you didn’t even bother to show a drop of gratitude to him. The things he’d done to guarantee your safety and life were spat on and stomped over by your childish tantrums and insults. And the last straw that broke his composure was your latest escape attempt.

It wasn’t the first you’d tried to flee, honestly. Many times he’d caught you struggling to unlock the bolts, destroying the boards that covered the windows or sneaking out of the bed during ungodly hours. What you lacked in strength, you made up in dogged determination. It was amusing to watch sometimes – how you thought you could simply leave without any repercussions – but everyone had limits to their patience.

For him, the limit was seeing you skulking around the city and sought help from a hero. A male hero, nonetheless.

He was weak, Garou mentally sneered as he stared down at the barely recognizable body. Beating him didn’t even give him a rush he usually felt when fighting against an A or S class hero. He concluded that the said hero must be a lowly B-rank because he’d never seen his face on the Hero Book. It didn’t matter, though. His presence had helped Garou eased some of his wraths, and he ensured you’d seen him in action. He wanted you to realize just how angry he was, and for you to regret your actions before it was too late.

You didn’t apologize, however. Instead, you decided to garner the attention from passersby by screaming at the top of your lungs and smacked his back repeatedly. A few people tried to step in, but a savage glare promptly scattered them without further debate. Garou knocked you out and locked you in your room for a day while he went out again to dispose of the lingering fury to some nameless heroes, and yet, you stayed adamant.

“You can’t keep locking me here forever, Garou.” you hissed, squirming against the ropes that bound your hands to the bed poles. “I’ll leave this hellhole someday and I’m gonna report you to the Hero Association. You’ll be thrown to jail in no time or, better yet, die on their hands.”

He said nothing for the next minute and kept polishing a knife instead. The thick silence sped up your heartbeat as you stared at his back, trying to deduce his thoughts. It was futile, though, since his face lacked any emotions. Normally, he’d scoff or jeer at your weak convictions because he knew – you knew – that as long as he was still alive, there was no way you’d be free. The freedom was there, lying behind the door and boarded windows, but his shadow never truly left you. It stood in the dark corners of the city and the recesses of your so-called home, anticipating another shenanigan that you’d pull behind his back.

Had you pushed him too far this time? From what you gathered, silent anger was primarily more… dangerous than the obvious one.

“That’s impossible and you know it, [Name].” he finally spoke, the cool and assured tone burned your ears more than his usual mockeries. Garou turned around, eyes lidded with the coldness that he used to show to the pests that bothered you. The knife nestled in his hand as he crawled towards you, yellow irises reflecting your agitated mien.

“S-stay away! I’m not… I’m not going to let you hurt me.” Your voice wavered the more distance he’d shortened between you two.

Garou cocked his head and sneered. “Oh, don’t worry! This won’t hurt! Well, it won’t hurt me. You? No, it’ll hurt really, really bad.” The fake warmth disappeared as quickly as it’d appeared. “I’ll give you a lesson you won’t forget.”

There was a time when you used to love Garou.

You remembered very well those memories when he used to train under that old man, Bang, as if they happened yesterday. Garou was his beloved student, not to mention the best among other trainees. A prodigy, you could say. Never once did he skip training, no matter how exhausted and pained he was. He had trained hard – too hard, in your opinion – to the point where his back developed muscles as well, thus making it seem bigger and broader.

Sometimes, he would come to your house with bruises and scratches littering his toned body. You used to fuss over him, occasionally scolding and telling him to take better care of himself. You wanted him to know that you couldn’t be around him forever. However, he simply dismissed your concern with a flick of his hand.

“If you can’t be around me anymore, then I’ll force you to,” he said. You didn’t mull over the meaning for too long, thinking that he was joking. But you couldn’t deny the confidence from his words, or that self-assured smirk, as if he was sure that you wouldn’t be able to leave him.

Well, you certainly hadn’t thought that way. You loved him, after all. What kind of a girlfriend was you if you break up with him simply because he had said some… questionable things?

As his lover, it wasn’t unusual for you to visit the dojo yourself. You would come and cheer on him, sometimes bringing some food for him and the others. Bang had grown accustomed to your presence and considered you as a ‘good supporter’ for Garou, much to your delight. His students had befriended you too, mainly because of how often you came, and referred you as the ‘Wolf’s Lover’. Of course, they still kept their respectful distance to avoid any… unpleasant consequences. Garou was, after all, a possessive boyfriend.

But that was a long time ago. Now, you didn’t have the same feeling for him anymore.

And no, it didn’t happen because you loved someone else or other equally bad reasons. Different opinions had long caused a rift between the two of you, ever since his confession to destroy the fake peace. Your belief in heroes and their ‘biased’ justice as he had oh so kindly put it, versus his belief that an ultimate monster would take the stage someday. And the worst thing was, he believed himself to be that ‘ultimate monster’.

Now, you had to admit that his motive was somewhat noble. He wanted to bring peace – the absolute peace – to the world, and possibly end all the wars, bullies, fights, and the like. Everyone wished for that too. But the way he carried out that intention was simply wrong.

Defeating the heroes? Sure, some of them might not be as pure as they seemed. However, it would be unfair to lump them in the same label, whereas not all monsters were keen on dominating the humankind.

Uniting people through fear? What would happen when they finally put him in his place? What would he do? You couldn’t think of a better outcome than killing him, had you were one of those normal people. Heck, the heroes would probably think so too. But Garou was your boyfriend; someone who had chosen to stick with your annoying guts and accompanied you through thin and thick, no matter how awkward he was at comforting you.

“You did what?” you asked, staring at him with an incredulous frown. You wondered if sleepiness blocked your hearing somehow since he had barged into your apartment unannounced. After all, you were in the middle of napping when he entered through the window.

Honestly, it wasn’t the first time he’d done that. Sometimes, you questioned if he even knew the use of a door. But the news he’d brought to you was shocking, to say the least. Probably more when you witnessed him beating up his fellow trainees at Bang’s dojo at that time.

“I said I beat up all those fuckers.” He raised his chin and grinned smugly, ignoring the way you gaped like a fish out of the water.

“But they didn’t… do anything wrong.” Your voice turned softer as you tried to comprehend the absurdity of his story. He’d told you that he’d gotten a letter from the Hero Association, announcing that they would recruit criminals as heroes. Well, they wouldn’t know Sitch’s true intention had that ninja didn’t reveal it. There were some high-class heroes in there too, acting as the bodyguards. But what you didn’t understand was why Garou even bothered to come if he would only beat them up in the end.

Was he really that bloodthirsty until he was willing to fight all the participants – including the heroes in charge – right in front of the minister? If so, then maybe he was too far gone now. Or maybe he had always been this way, and you just failed to acknowledge it in favor of clutching your values and morals.

“Exactly!” he exclaimed, still bearing that sick grin you used to think as ‘sexy’ in the past. “They didn’t do shit until that motherfucker went to recruit them to join his shitty organization.”

You examined his face. Like, truly examined it. From the drops of blood that splattered across his cheek to those dilated, amber irises that reflected his restrained excitement and triumph. As if he took pride in his so-called victory.

This couldn’t be overlooked any further.

“Garou…” you began gingerly yet softly, scared that he might snap the moment he heard what you were about to say. “I don’t think we can continue this relationship anymore.”

Your heart started to beat faster when you saw his grin dropped. “Huh? The hell are you talking about?” he asked, narrowing his eyes suspiciously.

Swallowing the nerves that clogged your throat, you mentally prepped yourself up to tell the thing you’d been wanting to say and face the consequences.

Were you, though?

Garou was quite unpredictable, and while he had never laid a hand on you, it didn’t mean he couldn’t do it now. He had the strength and speed to incapacitate you. You’d be damned if you fight him.

Not that you could, though. You would most likely lose at first attempt.

“I think we should break up.”

There was a moment of thick silence that surrounded the living room. You peeked through your hair, attempting to decipher his otherwise stony face. It wasn’t common to see him act this way – so stiff yet unreadable – and you knew that it couldn’t mean anything good.

“What?” It was like the role was reversed. Now, he was the one who asked for clarification.

“I said we should break up.”

“No…” he muttered, a frown distorted his dangerously captivating features. “You said ‘I think’. Well, I don’t fucking think the same way if that’s what you want me to say, [Name].”

“Well,” you rolled your shoulders in fake nonchalance and boldly stared at his eyes. “We definitely should. We have different beliefs about heroes and such, and with how you’re acting now, it’s best if we part ways. You can continue your hero hunting, and I can do my own things.”

Garou fell silent again. Slowly, he lifted his left hand before slammed it down against the coffee table. You stiffened, watching the once intact desktop split in two through your peripheral vision. Splinters of wood scattered on the marble floor, but that was the least of your concern.

It was the message he conveyed to you. He was stronger than you, therefore you stood no chance against him. You were fully aware, and you acknowledged it. That was why you never acted upon those violent thoughts whenever he spoke about his burning hatred towards phony justice and heroes. Still, you could discern the other idea that he’d implied to you.

This was what you could and would be if you kept resisting him.

“We won’t last long, Garou.” you mumbled, despite the underlying threat. It might sound as if you were trying to appeal to his conscience, while in reality, it was nothing but the truth. A couple with contrasting opinions – especially about something as subjective as peace, justice, and society – could never survive. At least, that was what you thought.

A hand wrapped itself around your throat, instantly cutting off the oxygen supply from entering and leaving. Garou glowered and clenched his jaw; the very same expression he always showed to his enemies. Or, in other words, this wasn’t his usual playful and sadistic self.

This was a serious Garou.

“Is this how you fucking repaid me, after I’ve protected you from those weak ass villains?” he asked through gritted teeth.

You wriggled at the increasingly tight grip and clawed his skin, face blanched. It was moments like this where oxygen became invaluable to you. “Garou, let me… go.”

“Honestly, [Name], I’ve never thought that you would be a fucking coward. Breaking up with me? Really? How the fuck would you protect yourself, huh? You’re weak! You need someone strong like me to protect you.” He breathed heavily through his nostrils and observed your pathetic attempt to release yourself from his grasp. “You think we can’t last because we have different beliefs? Don’t make me laugh. In half a year, I’ll grow stronger. More powerful! And I’ll show you, and those shitty heroes, that a villain can change the world too. I’ll be the ultimate monster and bring the peace! And you’ll regret ever doubting me!”

Garou threw you on to the couch unceremoniously before you could pass out, or worse, die from strangulation. You coughed and inhaled deeply, trying to fill your lungs with air as much as possible. Meanwhile, Garou headed towards the exit with no apology whatsoever and looked over his shoulder.

“We’ll make this shit works. No buts or what ifs.” He pursed his lips in dogged determination. “Remember that.”

The aftershock and exhaustion finally settled in when you heard the slam of the door that sounded distant in your ears. You collapsed, the buts and what ifs became your last thoughts before everything turned dark.
