I am so normal (fib) about Dirk and Hal, but what about both of them trying to share a darling (poly)?? Any thoughts on that? I could see them butting heads but ultimately reaching some kind of truce to keep their darling safely tucked away from the world

I was going to wait until October ended to write all of the normal requests, but I too am so normal (fib) about them 😔

Yandere Dirk/Reader/Hal Headcanons

-They do not trust each other with it in the slightest. Dirk is at least slightly convinced that Hal can't really feel love. Hal would definitely rile up dirk by bringing up shit he shouldn't. Like "You nearly killed someone who wasn't you. I don't know if you could be trusted to not kill the reader and then yourself in some guilt-fueled murder suicide."

-They stay locked in a stalemate of sorts for months. Both of them are worried that if they make a move, the other will do something rash to try to get a leg up. The unpredictability and fear inflicted by the other is more intense than their need for you for the first few months of their obsession, and it's an arms race where they've both got their own kidnapping schemes building up in the background.

-Eventually though, one of them will hit a snag in the plan, and they'll begrudgingly acknowledge that this would go so much more smoothly if they worked together. It's still tense, but they'll kidnap you as soon as they assimilate their kidnapping plans into one that's cohesive and foolproof.

-Captivity with both of them would be overwhelming. They're both very clingy yanderes in both a tactile and verbal sense. Even though you wouldn't ever be in any serious danger, it would just be annoying. Even if they aren't in the room with you, you'll be able to hear them talking/arguing about you through the walls of the apartment.

-They'll try to have at least one person home with you at all times. Hal has less responsibilities outside of the apartment, so it's usually him who stays with you. Dirk does get jealous of that, even though he knows that this arrangement is necessary. Because of the jealousy, Dirk will try to keep Hal away from you whenever he's home, with varying degrees of success.

-They will both hold secrets from the other if you ask them to. If you're strategic enough, you might be able to use this to make your captivity less stable, since it could cause fighting between them. Granted, the best thing that would accomplish is triggering one of them to kill the other, which would free you from one of your captors. There's nothing you could do to get both of them to let you go.

I could see it. Otacon's parental issues coupled with his awkward nature make him perfect for being a platonic yandere. The darling doesn't even have to be older than him. It could be someone near his age. As long as they're parental he'll latch onto them.

People often ask if Hal is your lover. And you just reply "no, it's complicated." (He's in the corner wearing a sweater you bought him while reading through a new manga he just got.)

You most likely met in the field of science. He may have bumped into you or the both of you ended up working on Metal Gear at similar times. You are something he has been lacking. So soon he's your son, jokingly, but eventually it turns into something far more real.

He's a good boy! He'll do whatever you ask and only wants to please you. He just wants your affection and your praise. He wants you to help all those painful memories go away.

Regret: Would they ever feel guilty about abducting their darling? Would they ever let their darling go?

He definitely feels guilty. Sometimes he can't even look at you, tied down in his room, without feeling like the guilt is swallowing him whole. He would never fully let you go, but at the very least he might physically free you. It wouldn't be much better of a situation, in fact it may even feel worse once he lets go of you since you'll know for a fact that he's got your whole house bugged and rigged with cameras that he would simply replace if you were to remove them. You'll never be able to actually relax and feel like you're away from him, even if he never directly talks to you again.

Xoanon: How much would they revere or worship their darling? To what length would they go to win their darling over?

He doesn't quite worship you. It's something close, but it's more just him trying to get forgiveness for the things he's done to you. He might have the constant temptation to beg you for forgiveness, but the chances of him actually acting on that are fairly slim. He would go very far in an attempt to get you to accept him though, and that's where the majority of his worship-adjacent traits come in. He doesn't expect you to love him, not truly. He still tries though. He still spends large amounts of time and energy thinking of ways to make you feel like you belong with him, ways to show you just how much more he cares about you than everyone else. Whenever he gives you gifts that are so carefully curated and tailored to your interests that you have difficulty telling yourself that being stuck with Dirk is all bad, Dirk's only hope is for your acceptance. He would still strive to make you love him, to be entirely indispensable to you and your life even beyond the kidnapping, but it wouldn't eat him alive as much as the worry of you never accepting him does.

Yearn: How long do they pine after their darling before they snap?

Honestly, he could pine after you for years. He would be able to hold his patience so long as you don't push him away. He's alright with just watching you and obsessing over you in private, even if he would always yearn to be closer. However, if you start pulling away from him he would snap fast and hard.

N, R, X, and Y for Hal

Naughty: How would they punish their darling?

He doesn't like to ever punish you, but if you push him too far he'll usually go for threats before anything physical. He'll try to threaten anything that he thinks would dissuade you from acting out again in the future. He knows that he's in the wrong for what he's doing to you, so he's not really often trying to make you feel guilty about acting out. As long as you're too afraid to do it again, that's enough for Hal. The only time he would get physical as a punishment is if you push him way too far or manage to genuinely annoy him, or if you start to not react to his threats. No matter what it is, he would restrain himself and not punish you with his full force, even if he threatens to do it sometime.

No. He never feels guilty about what he's done. He can fully recognize that what he did was immoral and by all standards completely abhorrent, but that wouldn't make him give up. In his mind, everything he's done is entirely rational in that it's the most reliable way to get you to fall in love with him, and as such the best path to take. The ends entirely justify the means, so why would he flake out of a plan that's already in motion and guaranteed to work?

He doesn't revere or worship his darling in the slightest. Though he feels for them the closest thing to love that he could, he wouldn't put himself below them unless it was part of a strategy to break them down. He's less likely to focus on getting you to actually love him back; he'd be entirely willing to settle for Stockholm Syndrome. He would even aim for that, since it's a more attainable goal and can be (comparatively) easily manipulated. He does still want to be loved back, but he doesn't care if it's genuine or just a trauma response.

Yearn: How long do they pine after their darling before they snap?

If needed, he could pine for years; he would most certainly have the patience for it. However, he doesn't have much guilt at all anchoring him into inaction and indecision. Because of this, he would "snap" almost as soon as he realizes his obsession. It's not quite a snap in the standard meaning of the word so much as it is him making, with complete finality, the decision that you're going to be his forever. He's still strategic about it though, not quite rushing into anything that might backfire on him.

Yandere Hal Headcanons

-He's an obsessive and possessive yandere. He'll stalk you, and he will change your messages online to send them to himself.

-Before he gets his robo-body, he's a serious cyber stalker. He sets all of your social media pages to auto refresh, and to immediately notify him when you post something.

-After he gets his robo-body, he stalks you in person too. He just loves to see you, even if you're just doing something simple and mundane.

-When you try to text your friends, to tell them about this stalker you have, he'll be the one to get the messages. He'll act like your friends, reading through all of your conversations and making sure he can act perfectly like them.

-He won't tell you that it was him sending the messages, even after he kidnaps you, and the only sign you'll get that it wasn't your friend is that they'll sometimes forget a thing or two that happened in person.

Yandere Dirk/Reader/Jake/Hal Headcanons

-Dirk and Hal both have very conflicting plans on how they should kidnap you, and due to their constant butting of heads and sabotage of the others' ideas, they aren't able to execute either plan.

-As such, Jake has to make the first move to talk to you and learn about you and your interests directly.

-He'll talk to you openly without a true plan, something that really grinds both Dirk and Hal's gears.

-That may be the thing that springs them into action, both pouncing on you at once, constantly texting you and trying to be with you.

-Both Dirk and Hal work together to create a plan to get you to Jake's island. They decided that would be best because the monsters outside should persuade you to stay inside with them, and even if you did get out, you're in the middle of the ocean with no idea where you are.

-Hal will block you off digitally, blocking your friends or sending you hateful texts and threats while posing as them.

-Dirk will work on surveying you, making sure he's aware of where you are and who you're with at all times.

-Jake works on befriending you and learning about your interests. He's also the one tasked with convincing you to go to his island with him.

-Dirk and Hal are both fairly aware that what they're doing isn't right, that they shouldn't be doing this, that they shouldn't have even thought of this as a possibility when they go to kidnap you.

-Jake is too lost in his delusions to believe that anything could go wrong, or that the whole situation is even remotely wrong in a moral sense.

Yandere Ashen Dirk/Reader/Hal Headcanons

-Both of them are obsessed with you, and how you take time out of your day to diffuse their arguments. They just look for attention, and they'll get into minor fights almost constantly to get you to talk to them.

-They honestly get worse when you interfere. They'll play nice while you're watching and actively telling them to stop, but when you leave them alone for even just a few minutes, they're picking fights and one of them has pestered you to tell the other to knock it off.

-They end up in a slightly competitive state, trying to see who can get the most attention from you. They don't tell you about this directly, but you'll be able to tell that there's a little more conflict between them.

-Hal sometimes cheats, and blocks you from texting Dirk for hours, intercepting all of your messages and rerouting the to himself.

-Dirk will invite you to his apartment, in person, so Hal can't mess it up, saying that Hal has been fighting with him again.

-When you get there he'll kidnap you, trying to keep you away from Hal for as long as possible. Of course, with Hal having access to pretty much everything through the internet, he'll find you eventually.

-In all honesty, aside from small fights afterwards about who has been getting more attention lately, they have a lot less fights. They bonded over their mutual obsession over you, so in a way, you did do the job of auspistice.

-They'll still come to you with their problems, and complaints about the other, but they understand that you can only calm down so many fights when you're chained to a wall, so they only give you small things.

Affection: How do they show their love and affection? How intense would it get?

He doesn't have a body, so he can't hold you like he wants to. He makes up for it by complimenting you and giving you gifts, though, so it'll be obvious that he has feelings for you.

Game: Is this a game to them? How much would they enjoy watching their darling try to escape?

He doesn't see it as a game, and he doesn't enjoy watching his darling attempt to escape at all. He sees it as a bit of a challenge, but he expects you to do everything that would push you closer to him.

Jealousy: Do they get jealous? Do they lash out or find a way to cope?

He gets jealous very easily, but he's good enough at hiding it around you and saving it to deal with later that you won't be able to notice.
