Over thirty thousand years ago the man whose bones were discovered died in a cave. Dna will be extracted from the skeleton even though its degraded some pieces will survive. Theyre looking for mitochondrial dna which provides a record of ancestry. Its only inherited from the mother so its intact from generation to generation. Moderns shared a common ancestor at least a hundred thousand years ago and reinforces the theory that neanderthals were a branch of evolution and not a direct ancestor. This film is actually sort of lacklustre. I think ive seen it before. Oh well! I know its a novel idea but perhaps im *refining* my tastes eh? Whatever thats supposed to mean.
