It’s apparently a technique used in a genre of porn called sissy porn, as Andrea Long Chu wrote about it here.
It refers to the particular aspect of it where the subject is made out to be “simplified, emptied, dumb.“ It’s also referred to “intelligence play”.
Let me get this straight. (ha. straight. anyway.)
CALIBORN tells you that you are a BIMBO???
And people get off on this??
It makes me glad to merely be a yaoi fangirl...
So, huh. What happened to Jake in meatverse was “bimboification”. I thought that the tag was a joke. I don’t know, like about a woman being made out to be a slut, or something.
Porncourse and transcourse on my experiences based on Andrea Long Chu’s writings under the cut
ALC makes these points: the nonconsensuality of desire. Everyone(!) is a “politically irreparable” bottom. It aligns with my experience consuming yaoi, like falling ass backwards into the gravitational pull. No one warned me about the stairs, so like.
Also that transwomen, being women born in male bodies, because of how they are socialized as men, naturally get drawn towards sissy porn. There’s no protestations about it. Similarly, if one happens to be a transman, born in a female body, there’s a good chance that he’s going to be drawn towards yaoi. Because apparently there’s some drama about both these things.
However, one might make the point that, had they never encountered the porn, they might have never been trans. Maybe, had they never had the impetus to conceive of themselves in the other gender’s body, they would’ve been just fine being themselves. Ignorance is bliss. Their one decision to look at a particular Tumblr, click another link, planted a seed in their brain that had no choice but to blossom. The momentary decision to not set a boundary, to be like “nope, I have standards,” cemented their inevitable transness. Yeah, yeah, good point. Let’s abolish porn. Everyone in favor say “yay”. I think that’s everyone. (Tumblrpocalypse: commence.)
Anyway, it can’t quite be said that one came before the other. They’re circumstantially simultaneous.
Andrea Long Chu is famous for her other piece called “On Liking Women,” in which she discusses her transwomanhood. In it she discusses some radfem ideas:
Now that is Aradia energy.
Men are timid, guilty, dependent, mindless, passive, animalistic, insecure, cowardly, envious, vain, frivolous, and weak. Women are strong, dynamic, decisive, assertive, cerebral, independent, self-confident, nasty, violent, selfish, freewheeling, thrill-seeking, and arrogant.
The troll boys vs. the troll girls though...
Solanas’s revolutionary infantry SCUM (which at one point stood for “Society for Cutting Up Men,” though this phrase appears nowhere within the manifesto) will spare any man who opts to join its Men’s Auxiliary, where he will declare himself “a turd, a lowly abject turd.”
Holy shit.
This is after all a pamphlet advocating mass murder, and what’s worse, property damage.
Yep this is Megido energy alright
Serious takeaway: people should be able to define themselves the way they want. And I am a ciswoman who is also a transwoman in the sense that I aim to have a female body. I do want to be a woman, and I will be a woman.
